In the devastated capital of the Clan, Duke November was surrounded by several monstrous abominations. Regardless of how much he utilized his temporal domains, the True Blood could barely keep up against the horrors before him.

"Damn it!" He cursed while avoiding the bite of Ragnarok, who trampled onto the Gothic castle of the capital. His crimson gaze widened, realizing the situation he confronted.

Duke November was fighting a losing battle with no reinforcements. It would only be a matter of time until he was defeated by these monstrous abominations.

With this in mind, he turned his attention towards the coordinates where the progenitor disappeared and took a deep breath.

Even though his loyalty ran deep, his mind remained rational.

The conclusion to his resistance was death. A demise without any meaning. An end he'd rather avoid, especially as a long-lived being.

"Progenitor..." Duke November took a deep breath and was about to bolt out of the capital. But before he could do so, the location where the progenitor disappeared had its space distorted.

As cold sweat dripped from his forehead, relief flooded his heart. However, when he saw the severely injured state of the progenitor. He was astounded, to say the least.

"Progenitor!" He caught the bloodied body of the progenitor and noticed that the black armor of his master had already been shattered into pieces.

The progenitor opened their crimson gaze and stared at their subordinate. Madness seemed to emanate from their pupils, but they maintained their calm through sheer will.

"T-the adversaries were much stronger than we expected."

"We have no choice but to surrender."

"Otherwise, our annihilation will be an unavoidable fate."

Hearing the words of his master, Duke November was dumbfounded. Dread filled his heart as chills echoed throughout his spine.

His master was the symbol of arrogance. As the progenitor of an entire species, submission was an impossibility. Even the origin of the lycanthropes would rather face death than surrender.

From this realization, a maddening thought surfaced in his mind.

Was this really his master?

As he gritted his teeth, Duke November questioned the one before him.

"Who are you?"

He hoped that he would be wrong and that his master would punish him for his heretical thoughts. Unfortunately, the worst scenario in his mind wasn't far from the truth.

The progenitor smiled at him as their injured body recovered in mere moments. Straightening their back, the origin tilted their body and asked. "Was the act so obvious?"

"No, no... How could this be?"

Duke November backed away from his master and felt his sanity breaking apart. The origin of the vampires was reduced to a mere puppet. The thought alone was maddening.

"We wanted to try absorbing the Clan from within by using the body of the progenitor. Looks like the plan was awry from the start." The progenitor chuckled and walked towards the True Blood.

"Are you curious about what happened to your master?"

"I would be too if I were you."

"Would you like to know?"

Duke November clenched his fist, hatred seething deep within his bones. There was no doubt about it. The person in front of him was the progenitor.

The problem, however, was the fact that the one inside wasn't his master anymore. It was someone else, probably a monster of some kind.

"What are you?" He questioned while becoming cautious. The monstrous abominations around them seemed to stop attacking him, and instead encircled the ruined capital of the Clan.

The progenitor stepped forward and smiled at the True Blood. "Who are we? That is a good question, but how about I tell you the truth?"

"Your master is already gone."

"He was tortured before his untimely demise. At first, he was arrogant and resisted the horror of his circumstance. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for his so-called eternal mind to break apart."

"His screams echoed, his cries were music to our ears. Your master's tear-stricken face was pitiful. It took quite some time for us to break him apart so that he could be devoured properly."

"The result?"

"Well, you're looking at it."

The progenitor smirked while pointing at itself.

Duke November clenched his teeth, his veins popping as his bloodshot eyes glared at the bastard pretending to be his master. "You bastard!"

"How dare you-" Before the True Blood could continue, the progenitor snapped their fingers, and a crimson moon rose from the blurred horizon.

"His body, his identity, his mind, his memories, his dreams, his power, his soul... It all belongs to us now." Duke November felt despair creeping into his heart.

It was at this moment that he realized the hopelessness of his situation.

Damien opened his status display and saw his Terror Points rising.
