Moonquest: A Journey To The Stars-Chapter 89: SCREEECH!: The Case Awakens...
Chapter 89 - SCREEECH!: The Case Awakens...
"Imp...oss...ible..."
With these final words, Gears finds his body shattering into tiny bits, flesh and gears intermingling in one large pile of sludge. Seeing its creator dead, the mad Mechmagos' domain quickly crumbled, revealing severely deformed buildings, of which many began crumbling once the effects of the domain wore off.
Witnessing the final moments of the Mechmagos did nothing but fill his heart with relief.
Relief that it has all come to an end
He lifted his head, gazing at the sky. Rest in peace, kid. Don't worry, I'll keep them safe...
Heaving a sigh, he turned his head, only to be met with the stares of all Human, and Goblin, a Succbus, a Dwarf, and a (still crippled) Elf. "Holy shitballs, what was that!?"
In awe of what he saw, Lewis screamed in what seemed to be pure...joy? Coming closer to the tired Orc, he continued peering at him, to the point where Titus grew uncomfortable. "Aight kid, spill. What'd you wanna ask?"
"What was that? Is that armour really that armour? How many aliens have you killed? Have you ever ridden on a spaceship? Do you worsh–"
"Enough yapping kid! I swear, I believe that I now have calluses growing in my ears!"
Stopping Lewis from hammering away with his verbal diarrhoea, Titus removed his hand from his mouth, glad to have stopped the barrage pouring forth. Meanwhile, the others had also begun breaking from their stupor. "Hey, hey! Old man, what was that?"
Eyes gleaming with stars, Goblina nearly knelt in front of the old Orc, wanting to worship him in all his glory. Holding her in place with one of his huge palms, Titus gently pushed her back. "Kid, I think you're coming too close to my likings."
Seeing her downcast, he could not help but soften his heart. "Alright... Maybe one day, when all this mess has cleared out, maybe then I'll be willing to possibly share my adventures with you lot. Yes, I know that look of yours. Shame on you all for forcing a young girl to be the spear. I swear, if it wasn't for–"
His eyes shrank in fear, for he heard whirring noises behind him. Turning his head, all his remaining hair stood in fear, for the mad Mechmagos' body began swelling. "If I can't have the city, I'll fucking take you all down with me! Ahahahahah...!"
His body swelling, it began turning bright red. The core in the centre of his chest swirled faster and faster, lightning crackling across. "Shit! If he blows himself up, he'll take out half of the continent with him!"
Unwilling to see the unnecessary loss of life, he chose to sacrifice himself, intending to use his body as a shield to take on all the damage.
But that was when the case glowed
Under their astonished eyes, the ancient bronze case began clanking, before splitting open, revealing something very shocking:
A bronze arm, filled with gears and wires, mounted with a... gun at top!?
Amidst their awestruck eye, the arm flew right into the air, before releasing a blinding flash of light. Spreading quickly across the city, it vapourised the self-destructive Mechmagos, turning him into ashes, before doing the same to the other escaped Technopriests.
But it didn't stop there
Forging on, it began electrocuting every single monster that lay siege to the city, from the Wabbits atop their war chariots to the Urks prepared to race the women of Mithrador, all fell down with lightning crackling in their mouths, dead.
Once it felt that there were no other enemies, it promptly began assembling back its case, resting upon it until it was needed once again.
All the while, the group kept their mouths open wide in shock.
