After the moon goddess had stopped hugging me, she stood up, and I looked at her.

She stretched her right hand towards my face and touched my left cheek, causing something like a bright light to come forth from her hand.

She removed her hand from my left cheek and I touched my left cheek.

"It’s gone". I muttered, when I could no longer feel the injury that was on my left cheek.

The moon goddess suddenly sat beside me, as there was enough space for her to sit on the rock I was sitting on.

She held my hands and said to me, "You know, after I left your office that day, I thought about all the things I had done and regretted them. But, I’m sorry. I couldn’t bear to lose you. I lost all my loved ones. So, I really couldn’t bear to lose you too".

"I- It’s alright". I told her.

"You don’t have to pretend that it’s alright, Clara. I know that deep down, you are still disappointed with me. I caused the death of the real Anastasia". Moon goddess said to me and breathed deeply.

"Actually, about that.... You didn’t cause anyone’s death". I said to her and saw the puzzled look on her face.

Since the moon goddess wasn’t just anyone, I told her about everything that had happened to me two months ago after she had left my office.

She was indeed shocked.

She was petting my hands as she asked me, "The so-called real Anastasia I thought died during childbirth was my mistake? You have always been her? That explains almost everything. And, that part of your being, Elektra, became your wolf? I never knew that".

"Don’t forget the part about Alpha Dylan. He is my mate. At least, he is my ex-mate". I said to her.

"How come I missed all these important details?". The moon goddess asked me.

"I don’t know. But, I have some questions to ask you".

"Go ahead, my child. I am listening". She nodded as she said this to me.

I didn’t see any reason to waste time, making me go straight to the point. "Alpha Dylan is my destined mate, but how come the Lycan king claimed that I was his mate? How does this mate bond work, moon goddess? Most werewolves and some humans believe that it is you that make two werewolves a fated mate. But, some others believe that it is the universe that gives each werewolf their fated mates. I want to know how it truly works".

After a few seconds of silence, the moon goddess looked into my eyes and said to me, "My child, I am not the one who gives each werewolf their destined or fated mates. It is the universe. My main job in this aspect is that I must give my blessings to each of the fated mates. And, it has nothing to do with me if one of the fated mates dies, or they decide to reject each other and break their mate bond".

"If it’s like this, how come the Lycan king said I was his mate? I mean, my mate is Alpha Dylan, and we have already rejected each other". I asked her, and my eyebrows furrowed.

The moon goddess smiled. She added, "The universe is very tricky, even for me, my child. You must have heard about a second chance mate. A second chance mate is very rare. But, anyone who gets rejected by his or her fated mate may have a second-chance fated mate with another werewolf who was not opportune to have his or her own fated mate from the start. And in this second chance union, I, the moon goddess, do not have to give my blessings. And at times, I don’t know the identities of the second-chance couples. You see, despite being the moon goddess, I don’t know everything".

"So you’re trying to say that the Lycan king might be my second chance fated mate?".

"Yes, my child".

The moon goddess’ reply made me open my mouth in disbelief. Could I truly be the Lycan king’s mate? Me? The Alpha of the shadows’ pack!

Even though I don’t reject the Lycan king, my citizens, especially beta Damien, would not allow me to be the Lycan king’s mate!

"Argh!!!!! This is so not fair!!!! Dear universe, what other plot twist do you plan to add to my life!!!!? Have you not had enough?!!". I shouted from the depth of my heart while staring and pointing a finger at the sky.

The moon goddess came to me and hugged me without saying a single word. I needed that hug.

I stayed in her embrace. I wasn’t crying or anything. My face was blank.

The thing is, I tried to cry, but no tears came out of my eyes.

Not even a single drop.

"You are going to be alright, my child. I know it. After you fulfill your destiny by overshadowing your dark energy using your light energy and bringing bright energy to the entire world, I will take you with me". She said to me, but what could I possibly say to her?

Does she really think it is easy for me to overshadow my dark energy using my light energy?

Earlier today, my whole body was controlled by the dark energy for only a few seconds, and I felt like killing everyone and destroying everything.

Who knows the kind of destruction I will cause if the dark energy overshadows the light energy and permanently takes root in my life?

Then, I would not only destroy the world, but also myself!
