Chapter 30 - 30: I’m Not Blaming Her

She had done this before, and the brat had always stayed silent.

But now that he could talk, he had become a real problem.

Daniel's lips curled into a cold smirk. "It's funny to hear you say that casually. I'd love to see what kind of harmless fun you had with Rai, Mrs. Bently."

Harmless fun?

She had the audacity to call dangling a child outside a window a game.

If Rai hadn't spoken up now, who knew how much worse he had suffered before?

Daniel pushed down the guilt that was clawing at his chest and turned to his son.

Kane hesitated, and his wide eyes were filled with innocence and trust. He then said softly, "Don't blame Grandma, Daddy. She was just playing a game with me... like before."

"I'm not blaming her," Daniel said, gently stroking Rai's face.

But when he turned around, his eyes were cold and dangerous.

"Didn't you hear it, Mrs. Bently? It was all just for fun. We wouldn't want to deprive you to experience the fun of the game."

Ruby's scream tore through the air as the bodyguard grabbed her by the ankle and dangled her outside the window.

A gripping terror hit her hard as the ground below seemed to spin.

Kane clapped his hands, laughing. "You're really good at this game, Grandma! I was too scared to play, but you're so brave. Right, Daddy?"

That's what she gets for being a bully! My brother must have gone through so much because of her!

This was payback for his brother.

But Kane's attention drifted to Daniel. He watched him silently, fascinated, as his father clenched his jaw, barely holding back his fury.

For once, Kane thought his two-timing dad deserved a thumbs-up for acting like a real father.

Ruby, on the other hand, looked messy. The dizziness overwhelmed her, and by the time she was pulled back inside, she threw up everywhere.

She slumped against the floor, barely able to stand.

Her voice quivered as she switched between apologizing and begging Daniel to help Kate.

Daniel didn't spare her a glance.

With a flick of his hand, the guards threw her out of the estate.

Then, his voice thundered, saying, "Don't ever let her near Rai again!"

"Yes, sir!"

Soon after, Ashton hurried upstairs with his report.

"Sir, there's been no direct contact between Ms. Kate and Chantelle except when they visited the charity association's office together a day before the event. But I did find something else; Ms. Chantelle was involved in the chaos at the charity gala."

"The man who threw paint on Ms. Bently is Steve Walter. My investigation confirmed that Chantelle ordered him to enter the event. It looks like she's targeting Ms. Bently."

Ashton carefully watched Daniel's face as he talked.

If he sensed even the slightest hint of anger, he knew it was his cue to shut his mouth.

Daniel's features tightened as his expression turned dangerously cold.

A chilling aura filled the room.

"Chantelle," he muttered in a voice full of menace. "You really have the nerve to play games under my nose."

The way she sat back and enjoyed Kate's downfall was burned into Daniel's mind.

He could still see the thrill in her eyes, the arrogance in her posture.

Something had definitely happened between those two women.

The thought hit him hard, and it was too disturbing to ignore.

His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. He took a deep breath, forcing down his annoyance.

He then ordered in a cold tone.

"Keep digging into the charitable association. Go back five years. I want a full list of staff changes and the exact dates."

There was no way she had covered all her tracks.

"Yes, sir!"

Behind the door, Kane clutched a glass of milk, and his small body trembled.

He had never seen his dad this angry before.

While no one was watching, he quickly pulled out his phone and typed a message.

"Mom! Mom! Mayday! Dad is looking into the charitable association! He's about to find out about your connections!"

With a quick tap, he sent it to Chantelle.

At the hospital

"Kate Bently, the Black Widow's road to charity."

"The biggest fraud of the year – Kate Bently, the charitable princess."

Kate lay in bed, staring at her phone. She kept scrolling through the same viral news.

The so-called princess and her so-called donation. What a joke.

Charitable princess? Yeah, right.

She was just trying to build her reputation. All she wanted was to get close to the Wilsons.

I heard Kate pays bribes because she's banned from all global charity events. The president caught her faking donations.

But that's nothing compared to what I just found out. She planned to announce her engagement to Mr. Wilson after securing the title of prestigious Global Ambassador for Philanthropy.

Karma really hit hard.

How did it come to this? Everyone was supposed to admire her.

She was meant to marry into the Wilson family and become the most respected woman in all of Easthan!

Instead, she was now a laughingstock. The public had turned against her.

"Ah!" Kate shrieked and smashed her phone on the ground out of rage.

"Bam!" The phone shattered into pieces.

A black stiletto crushed a shard of the broken screen near the door.

The woman wearing the heels had long, toned legs wrapped in black nylon stockings. Her skirt hugged her curves, sitting just above her knees.

A red, tailored overcoat fit snugly over her upper body. Her long hair cascaded over her chest, framing a jawline that was both sharp and delicate.

Hearing Kate's outburst, she smirked.

"How are you, Ms. Kate?" Her voice was cool and firm, wrapped with barely concealed contempt. Her dark eyes landed on Kate, who looked insane.

Kate whipped her head toward the voice, rage burning in her bloodshot eyes. Her nails dug into the pillow as she screamed, "Chantelle! It was you, wasn't it?! You did this to me!"

"You ruined my life!"

Kate struggled to get out of bed. She stumbled forward, storming toward Chantelle.

"You're a shameless bitch—" she shouted.

"Smack!"

A sharp slap landed on her face.

Her ears rang. Her head spun.

She clutched her swollen cheek, eyes wide in shock.

Chantelle calmly dusted off her fingers as if nothing had happened.

Kate gawked at her in disbelief. "How dare you hit me! You're dead meat! Daniel will come after you for this! Even if you come begging me on your knees, I won't—"

"Smack!"

Another slap cut her off.
