Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 481: Jude’s Girlfriend
Daniel kept thinking about useless things while carefully observing the surroundings. The speed of the car was also much slower than before.
To make the operation go smoothly, Daniel drove the car toward the outskirts of the countryside. Now, they were on a remote road with only a few people around.
In an instant, Daniel jerked the steering wheel and pulled Chantelle into his arms, protecting her with his body.
Chantelle also saw a woman suddenly appear in front of the car. Her hair was messy, and her body looked like it had been soaked in blood. She looked completely bloodied.
The car crashed into a tree next to the highway. The engine hood was broken, and smoke was coming out.
Chantelle did not suffer any injuries, while Daniel had some bruises on his forehead and hands.
"Are you okay?" both of them asked at the same time.
Chantelle said she was fine. Daniel smiled with relief and helped her out of the car.
After seeing that he could stand on his own, she turned around to look for the woman they had avoided.
When she brushed the woman’s hair away from her face, her eyebrows raised in surprise.
"You know her?" Daniel looked at Chantelle. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
She nodded. "You know her, too. Jude’s girlfriend, Shiela."
"When did Jude have a girlfriend?" Daniel had no idea about it.
Chantelle looked at him speechlessly. Jude was busy working for Daniel in the Wilson Group of Companies, but Daniel didn’t care about him at all. Even if Shiela was not his girlfriend, she was definitely a very important woman to him. Chantelle had seen them several times before.
"Go and bring the medical kit from the car," Chantelle said to Daniel, who was starting to investigate the surroundings. Saving Shiela’s life was more important.
Chantelle checked the injuries on Shiela’s body. There were scratch wounds from branches and daggers. Most of the injuries were from daggers. This was man-made and not an accident.
In other words, Shiela’s sudden appearance might not be related to their plan.
Daniel got into the car and brought the medical kit. He also called an ambulance. After thinking about it, he called Jude.
Jude’s reaction was more agitated than he expected. "What? What’s wrong with her? Where is she? I’ll be there soon!"
Daniel glanced at his phone screen as it went black for a few seconds, then he went to help Chantelle.
Chantelle briefly bandaged Shiela’s wounds and helped her to the roadside to wait for help.
Daniel did not say much. It was not that they lacked a sense of danger. A woman covered in injuries, running down the hill in panic, must have been chased.
They had been there for a while, but the people chasing Shiela never showed up. This could only mean those people recognized him and were afraid of him. Why were they afraid? It was because they knew there were a few secret bodyguards following and protecting Daniel and Chantelle.
After all, the two of them came out to trap the mastermind behind the accidents that happened one after another. They would not risk themselves by coming without backup.
Shiela looked severely injured. Those injuries were caused by torture. The vital parts of her body were not harmed, so there were no life-threatening issues. This was one of the reasons Chantelle did not send her to the hospital first. She was waiting to see if the people who hurt her would appear.
A moment later, the woman in her arms moved. Chantelle saw Shiela’s eyes, and they looked frightened.
Chantelle tried to calm her. "It’s okay now. It’s me, Chantelle. Do you remember me?"
When Shiela heard Chantelle’s name, her body trembled.
Both Daniel and Chantelle felt a strange feeling inside.
"The ambulance will arrive soon. Jude will be here too. Don’t be afraid." Chantelle could see she was so weak she might faint at any moment, so she didn’t ask what had happened.
Suddenly, Shiela yelled in panic and grabbed Chantelle’s collar. "Go! Go now! They are going to catch you."
Chantelle looked at Daniel, who gave her a reassuring look.
Then she whispered to Shiela, "Look, Mr. Wilson is here. No one can hurt us. Don’t be afraid."
Why was she afraid of Daniel?
Daniel looked into Chantelle’s puzzled eyes and quickly shrugged his shoulders to show he didn’t know anything about it. He had even forgotten who Shiela was.
"Go! Hurry and go! Don’t stay here..." Shiela muttered in Chantelle’s arms, as she didn’t want to yell anymore.
Chantelle gently patted her back to soothe her.
Ten minutes later, Jude arrived before the ambulance.
He saw Shiela covered in bandages and stumbled as he walked. When he reached them, he forcefully lifted Shiela out of Chantelle’s arms.
Chantelle was afraid he would panic and explained, "They are all superficial injuries, not life-threatening at all."
Jude nodded, and he did not look at Daniel for the first time. He put Shiela into the passenger seat and planned to drive away. Daniel quickly opened the driver’s door and pulled Jude out of the car.
"Carry Shiela to the back. I’ll drive." Daniel said after seeing Jude’s shaking hands and feet. He would definitely drive the car into a ditch.
Jude also realized his condition was very bad. He listened to Daniel and carried Shiela to the back seat, carefully covering her with a blanket.
Chantelle got into the passenger seat. She was tired of the accidents happening one after another. It was not only physically exhausting, but mentally exhausting too.
Daniel did not send Shiela to the hospital. He brought her to the 87th floor of Silver Crest Global District.
Philip and Alexander were shocked when they saw Jude carrying someone covered in blood. They let out a sigh of relief when they realized it was not Chantelle.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt? Is that blood yours? No, you need a full body check first." Alexander anxiously started pulling Chantelle toward the examination room.
Chantelle was about to explain that she was fine when Daniel grabbed Alexander’s wrist. It was clear that Daniel was using a lot of force, because Alexander’s face was turning pale.
Even with cold sweat forming on his forehead, he still didn’t let go of Chantelle’s hand. She quickly told Daniel, "Let go."
Alexander was a doctor. If something happened to his hand, he would never be able to hold a scalpel or be a doctor again.
Daniel stared at Alexander without blinking, signaling that he should let go of Chantelle first.
However, Alexander still refused to let go. He even spoke sarcastically to Daniel, "If you can’t protect Chantelle, let her go. Ever since she came back to you, she hasn’t had a single peaceful day."
