Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 244: She Ran Away?
The phone placed on the table by Ethan Sterling suddenly lit up for a moment, with a call coming in, but it was hung up before he could pick it up.
Did his little friend give him a call? Was there something going on?
Could it be that she missed him?
That must be it.
Looks like not coming home for dinner for the past few days really got to her.
But why hang up so quickly? He didn’t even have time to answer the call. And she didn’t call back either, this woman is really getting more and more willful.
Seems like she deserves a bit of attention.
Since that’s the case, he won’t go home tonight, let’s see if she can hold out!
"..."
Nathan Ayers quietly observed his boss, seeing his expression change from sweetness to coldness, then to conflict, and finally even some harshness. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
When did his boss become so emotionally rich?
Nathan felt a chill down his spine and couldn’t help but take two steps back.
Just as he moved further away, Ethan’s voice came over.
"Nathan, prepare an outfit for me."
"Huh? What outfit?" Didn’t the boss just change into this suit?
"Something more stylish, I’m going to pick up the little one from school."
Ethan had an official expression as he turned and left the office.
"Alright..."
Nathan smacked his lips, realizing that the complicated expressions from Young Master Sterling earlier were because he was thinking about picking up Miss Redgrave from school.
Nathan didn’t linger any longer and quickly followed his boss.
The understated yet luxurious royal blue sports car was parked steadily at the entrance of Sovereign University, attracting countless glances.
...
"Where is Seraphina? She’s not off busy with something again, is she?"
Ronan Yates and a few others sat on the bench at the school’s entrance, waiting for Seraphina Redgrave, boringly playing a card game on their phones.
"Rhodes, can’t you wait to use the trump card?"
"If not now, when? We’re going to lose anyway," Ronan muttered.
Sitting there so long would make anyone a bit dizzy.
They caught sight of the luxurious sports car from the corner of their eyes and couldn’t help but look, only to see the car door slowly open and a pair of long legs stepping out first.
The man wore a dark gray suit, his posture tall and straight.
"Bang."
Seeing who it was, Ronan’s hand shook, making his phone slip to the ground.
The remaining people recognized the person too; after all, he once broke into The Defiance Society, and Seraphina even indulged his antics.
His undeniable presence made everyone instinctively breathe softer.
Ronan was the most agitated one, and just seeing that face made his fingers ache slightly, memories of having them bent fresh in his mind.
But you couldn’t really blame the brother-in-law, he was the one who mistook him for something else.
"Sis... sis... ah!"
Ronan had been sitting too long in a weird position, his legs had gone completely numb, so as he stood he fell straight into Ethan’s arms.
Before he could crash into him, Ethan pushed him away, full of disdain.
Ronan was pushed against the wall, got up quickly, and staring at that handsome face even under sunglasses, shouted, "Brother-in-law!"
He held his fingers, praying not to have them bent again.
It really hurt.
Brother-in-law?
What kind of address is that...
Ethan was a bit impatient, how did they get so familiarly related?
Wait a minute...
Sister? Seraphina Redgrave?
Rory and the others were too stunned to even breathe.
The brother-in-law has come again, wearing sunglasses, at least show your face.
He doesn’t look easy to get along with like this.
Ronan stood on the side like a little quail, looking at the still-stunned members and loudly reminded, "Greet your brother-in-law properly, or do you need me to teach you?"
Otherwise, you’ll have your fingers bent too.
"Hello, brother-in-law!"
In unison, everyone bent at the waist, the scene looking comically absurd.
Everyone was filled with respect, not entirely because of Seraphina Redgrave, but more due to Ethan Sterling’s own imposing pressure.
They didn’t know where this pressure stemmed from, but it was undeniably worrying.
"..."
Ethan looked at the group of students in front of him, and he didn’t find the title "brother-in-law" so annoying anymore.
To others’ eyes, Ethan’s silence seemed like an impatient reaction. After a while, Ethan responded with a "Hmm," pretending to be relaxed.
Then, Ethan asked, "Where’s Seraphina Redgrave?"
Looks like the brother-in-law is a bit slow on the uptake compared to others.
Ronan scratched his head, also puzzled, "Didn’t you get in touch with Seraphina either, brother-in-law?"
"Either?" Ethan immediately caught the important part.
"Yeah, Seraphina agreed to come to the bar with us for a drink to celebrate, but she suddenly said she had something to do and left early. Now we can’t reach her by phone, she doesn’t even know the bar’s address, I’m worried she might not find us, so we’ve been waiting here for her," Ronan explained.
Instantly, Ethan’s expression turned grim, the earlier slight pleasure from being called brother-in-law now replaced by sheer anger.
He turned, started dialing a number as he got back into the car.
Ronan, Rory, and the others had no idea what was happening, but it wasn’t anything good.
As the sports car roared to life, raindrops suddenly began to fall from the sky.
Ronan wiped the rain from his face, the sky was ominously dark.
The sports car sped down the road like a raging beast, the windshield wipers swaying back and forth, making Ethan deeply annoyed.
The calls he made seemed to vanish into thin air, none getting answered.
"Damn it!"
Ethan slammed the steering wheel, creating a piercing honk.
Why won’t she pick up the phone!
Ethan dialed Nathan’s number again, "Seraphina Redgrave is missing, find her! Turn over every stone if you have to!"
Nathan was stunned for a moment and voiced his instinctive thought, "Miss Redgrave, ran away?"
"Impossible!"
Ethan growled, his heart pounding, his impatience burning ever brighter in his eyes.
She couldn’t run, he had conceded so much for her, how could she have the heart to leave!
Is it just because he hadn’t come home for dinner these days? Did she pull such a big stunt to scare him?
It couldn’t be.
Unless, she had always wanted to escape, and all the previous obedience was a pretense, just for this big move?
Once this idea emerged, it rooted in his mind, growing into a towering tree.
Ethan’s eyes were tinged red, his face turned pale, and his grip on the steering wheel was so tight that the veins bulged.
"Find her at any cost."
If she wants to run, then don’t blame him for being ruthless. From now on, he would keep her forever locked up in Hibiscus Garden, never to leave, for the rest of their lives.
"Understood, Young Master Sterling."
Nathan understood Ethan’s current mood and didn’t dare delay, immediately beginning the search for Seraphina Redgrave after hanging up the phone.
Ethan’s mind was a chaotic mess, he slammed the horn again, his foot unrestrained on the gas, making the sleek sports car race wildly down the road.
All the surrounding cars moved aside, afraid of colliding with this car, not only fearing for their lives but also their financial ruin.
