Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race-Chapter 150 - Immortal Demon King Badigadi
Chapter 150 - 150 - Immortal Demon King Badigadi
The news spread through the Sword Sanctuary and throughout the surrounding city with remarkable speed: A Demon King had appeared.
Normally, news of a Demon King would arrive long before he did. But this one moved so fast that they only discovered him at the moment he arrived.
Most of the city's inhabitants fell into a state of confusion and panic. This was understandable.
As a basic rule, Demon Kings never ventured beyond the Demon Continent.
Long ago there had been among them those who were warrior-like and aggressive, of course, but during the Laplace War, centuries ago, many were exterminated.
The survivors who now ruled the Demon Continent were for the most part peaceful or naturally cautious and largely uninterested in conflict.
However, regardless of their personalities, these kings were still powerful enough to lay claim to a piece of land on the dreadful Demon Continent.
If any of them decided to attack human territory, the damage would be incalculable.
One might imagine that the kingdoms he passed through must have been on high alert, but since he moved like the wind, none of them caught up to or intercepted him.
It was not hard to identify who he was. There was only one Demon King with black skin and six arms: Badigadi, the Immortal.
He was one of the ancestral kings who had lived since before the Laplace War. His most notable power, as his name suggested, was literal indestructibility.
Thanks to his peaceful nature, little was known about his combat capabilities, but some historians believed he had even fought against Laplace himself.
That meant even the fearsome Demon God failed to destroy him completely.
Within the Sword Sanctuary itself, however, the reaction was somewhat different.
Not to mention the Saint-level fighters and above in the main dojo, even the advanced-level practitioners' dojo grew eager to test their strength against a Demon King; after all, this place's atmosphere was the pursuit of strength.
Many of these warriors had long dreamt of defeating a Demon King.
Of course, most of the swordsmen in the outer dojos abandoned such thoughts when they learned he had beaten dozens of warriors at once upon his arrival, without suffering a scratch.
In any case, all of that was shocking enough. But there was more: the reason the Demon King came to the Sword Sanctuary.
It was not because of the Sword God, Gall Farion. No. As soon as he arrived, the first person he asked for was Rygar Adoldia!
---
After meeting at the Sanctuary's entrance, Rygar decisively accepted the Demon King's challenge.
With that, the two began walking together toward the interior of the Sword Sanctuary.
Nina, still somewhat tense, hurried ahead to warn everyone about what was about to happen, while Rygar took the lead, guiding Badigadi through the complex.
During the journey, as Rygar spoke with the Demon King, his thoughts were racing.
The Demon King's presence was intriguing and perhaps also an opportunity. A demon thousands of years old... alive even before Laplace's rise.
A being holding the title of Demon King of Wisdom.
If anyone could know something about Hitogami, that someone would be him.
When Rygar first arrived at the Sword Sanctuary, he tried to find information on the subject.
A little over a year ago, after long months of training with Gall Farion, he took advantage of one of the rare direct conversations with the Sword God to ask if he knew of the Human God or had any information about him.
Gall simply said he had never heard of such an entity.
Rygar did not give up and tried again with Reida, the Water God, when he had the chance.
But again, he had no success. No clue, no hint. It was as if Hitogami simply did not exist in the world they lived in.
This puzzled him even more.
How was it possible that two of the world's most powerful beings—the Sword God and the Water God—had never even heard of the Human God? Could he be an entity from another plane? A being from another, nonmortal dimension as he always claimed?
Having received no clear answer, Rygar decided it was not worth pressing the matter at that moment.
After all, until then, the Human God had never done anything directly against him, so he probably had his limitations. He always seemed to offer "helpful" advice.
He recalled the moments when Hitogami had appeared to him: when he was in the dwarven territory to hone his sword; before meeting Aisha; before the Larax ambush; and even after his encounter with the Dragon God.
All the advice given by Hitogami, when analyzed superficially, seemed intended only to help him or at least avoid tragedy.
But there was something that kept him always on guard: an instinctive unease.
Whenever Hitogami appeared in his dreams, Rygar felt profound discomfort, almost as if he were making a pact with the devil.
His sixth sense always warned him something was wrong, even when the Human God's words appeared benign.
That was why Rygar never trusted him and never would.
Even though, until now, his advice had not caused direct harm as far as he knew, he believed Hitogami was a manipulator.
And that his words always had something behind them.
And now, before Badigadi—one of the oldest beings still alive—and someone bearing the title of "King of Wisdom"—Rygar saw a new opportunity.
Perhaps this was the first being who could truly give him a concrete answer about the Human God.
But that would come later. After the duel. After measuring strength against the Demon King.
With a slight smile on his face and a sharp mind, Rygar walked alongside Badigadi down the corridor leading to the heart of the Sword Sanctuary.
Then a thought occurred to him suddenly.
He stopped for a moment, turning to face the Demon King.
"I have already accepted your challenge," Rygar said calmly. "But there is one detail..."
The Demon King raised an eyebrow, curious.
"Hm? And what is it?"
"Challengers who come to the Sword God Style usually do not face the Emperors directly. There is a certain order to follow."
Rygar crossed his arms, still calm. "You have already defeated the outer members, but before reaching me, there are still the Sword Saints and the other Emperors..."
Rygar smiled, a slight glint in his eyes.
"Moreover, I would like you to train with some of my apprentices."
Badigadi laughed loudly, his voice echoing through the Sanctuary's corridors like thunder.
"Bwaaahahahahahaha! But of course! I will fight through all the ranks then!"
With that decided, they continued on for a few more meters until a fork in the path.
Rygar indicated the direction of the arena with a gesture, then temporarily parted from Badigadi, heading to the main hall to speak with Gall Farion.
When he arrived, he found the Sword God standing before one of the large circular stone windows of the hall, his eyes shining with rare excitement.
"So... an Immortal Demon King appeared to challenge you?" asked Gall, crossing his arms with a broad smile.
"I admit I am eager to see what he can do."
"Me too," Rygar nodded with an equally fierce smile.
"But before that, I think he could serve as a good test for some of our most promising disciples. I thought we could have some of them face him first."
Gall Farion was pensive for a second, but soon agreed, still smiling.
"Hah! This will be truly excellent training. Who starts?"
"It could be Nina. She was the first to meet him."
Gall Farion nodded once more.
"So it shall be!"
---
Messengers were sent. Disciplines were paused.
The news of the Immortal Demon King's presence spread like fire in dry grass.
Everyone began converging toward the Free Field, the central area where Rygar usually held his most intense battles.
The Free Field was a platform of hardened earth and magic, constructed by Rygar a few months earlier.
It resembled a vast, open arena, with stone pillars marking its perimeter.
He had shaped the structure personally with earth magic, making it incredibly resilient, capable of withstanding impacts at absurd levels—which the common fields of the Sanctuary could not contain.
Of course, the Sanctuary's buildings were not ordinary, but they were insufficient for containing very high levels.
Gall Farion was positioned beside the Free Field, observing with crossed arms.
At his side stood Reida and Aisha.
Further ahead, Timothy and Clint stood among the spectators, and several Sword Saints had already gathered in a circle around the arena. Among them were Jino Britz, Ginav, and the Water Saint, Isolte.
The entire Sanctuary seemed to have mobilized.
It was rare for something to cause such a stir, but the Immortal Demon King's presence had ignited everyone's warrior spirit.
Some were still on their way: Eris and Ghislaine were training farther off but had been notified. Other Sword Saints were coming from the outer areas.
In the center of the field stood Rygar.
He carried two swords on one side of his waist and a third on the other.
He wore the traditional mantle of the Sword Sanctuary's swordsmen—but his mantle, specifically, appeared slightly different from the others.
His golden eyes shone with determination, and his posture was relaxed yet ready, one hand resting on the hilt of his sword as he stared at the opponent before him.
On the other side, standing with his enormous, muscle-covered body, was the Immortal Demon King Badigadi, observing Rygar with a wide, challenging grin.
"Tell me again... you really came here just to challenge me?"
"Bwahahahaha!" Badigadi let out a thunderous laugh. "I was just passing through! Actually, I was on my way to Ogre Island! But when I passed through the Dragon King's Realm, I stopped to visit a relative... and he told me about you!"
Rygar frowned slightly, confused.
"Lwis, right? I noticed the similarity in skin tone...but how is he your relative?"
"He is the great-grandson of my sister," Badigadi answered simply.
Rygar nodded slowly.
"So he is your great-grandnephew..."
"Indeed," confirmed the Demon King, proudly.
Then he continued:
"He told me he encountered a beastman with golden eyes like those of Laplace! He also said you were one of the best warriors he had ever fought...and that you developed a kind of regeneration similar to my race's!
Badigadi seemed excited, as if he had met an old friend rather than a future opponent.
"I see..." Rygar murmured thoughtfully, his golden eyes carefully watching every gesture and intonation of the Demon King.
At that moment, Nina arrived with Eris and Ghislaine. They seemed to have already been warned about what was about to happen and joined the other practitioners around the Free Field.
Nina was walking with them, strolling absentmindedly, until Gall Farion's firm voice echoed across the field:
"Where are you going, Nina? You will fight first!"
She stopped immediately. Her steps ceased, and she turned slowly to face the master. All eyes turned to her at that moment.
"M-me?" she asked, with a tone of surprise and hesitation.
Gall Farion laughed and said casually:
"Hahaha! Of course! Who else would it be? You're not afraid, are you?"
Badigadi also laughed heartily, crossing his arms enthusiastically:
"Bwahahahaha! It will be interesting!"
He began to warm up right there, flexing his muscles and rolling his shoulders like a gladiator preparing for combat.
His presence was monstrous, and even the Holy-level practitioners felt the weight of that aura.
Nina looked directly at Rygar as he exited the field, walking to the arena's edge.
He stopped and said: "Come on, Nina. Give it your best. Trust your training!"
Nina stared at him for a moment, then turned to Gall Farion, who merely smiled confidently.
She then looked at Jino, who stood beside Ginav. Jino did not speak, only moving his lips discreetly:
"Good luck."
Nina took a deep breath. She looked once more at Rygar and then nodded:
"I will."
She stepped onto the field with firm steps. Her feet echoed against the hard ground of the compacted earth arena, marked by countless scars from past training.
Badigadi was still stretching, unconcerned, as if it were just another morning warm-up. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Around them, the murmur began to rise—many were whispering about the Demon King's strength.
Most of those present were Sword Saints, many of whom had witnessed fierce sword fights...but almost never against a Demon King.
The only one who seemed uninterested was Reida Reia, watching with crossed arms, leaning against a tree, bored.
Nina then stood face to face with the Immortal Demon King. Her eyes were steady, her body on guard. Badigadi glanced at Rygar and Gall Farion with slight doubt.
"Are there any rules to follow in the fight?" he asked casually.
Gall replied with a slight smile:
"None. The first to defeat the opponent by any means possible is the winner. Just... avoid killing them," he added, slowly placing his hand on the sword's hilt in a threatening gesture.
Badigadi laughed heartily:
"Hahahahaha! All right then!"
As the combat was about to begin, and Rygar, at the edge of the arena, activated his Demon Eye.
In an instant, his gaze sharpened—and then froze.
"...!"
He stared intently at where Badigadi had been a moment before—but saw absolutely nothing.
No silhouette. No outline. No mana flow. Where he knew the Demon King was... there was literally nothing.
'...It can't be.'
Now this was a situation he had never encountered before, not even against Orsted.
His eyes saw everything, except the Demon King, it seemed this Immortal Demon King was not as simple as he appeared.
