Mushroom Lord in the Underground City-Chapter 361 - 353: Ming
The newborn Mushroom Race was named "Ming" by Lin Jun.
He has an infancy period of about half a month, after which he will enter a juvenile form and grow into a full adult within a year.
At the moment, he is enjoying a carefree childhood.
"Ming, go get it! Defeat it!"
In a specially dug pit, a Level 12 Rolling Beetle was wrestling with Ming.
The Rolling Beetle suddenly curled into a hard ball, rolling rapidly along the pit wall, then slammed into Ming, smashing him hard into the dirt wall.
However, Ming quickly climbed back up and pounced again, but was once more pinned down by the Rolling Beetle’s larger size, unable to move.
Yet, neither the beetle’s legs nor horns could harm the small Mushroom Race creature.
"Ming, don’t struggle aimlessly! Break its leg! Yes, that leg!" From the edge of the pit, Marshal Puki stood above, continuously commanding remotely.
With the hint, Ming stopped flailing, firmly grasping a struggling beetle leg with both hands, twisting and pulling back and forth.
Half a minute later, with a tooth-grinding "crack," the first beetle leg was finally snapped off by him.
He repeated the process, and a few minutes later, the last leg of the Rolling Beetle was removed. Although it was still alive, the victory was already decided.
[Level Up LV4→LV5]
Puki extended mycelial tendrils, pulling the small Mushroom Race creature up from the bottom of the pit.
"Boss!" Ming panted heavily, looking up at Marshal Puki with a face full of anticipation.
Lin Jun naturally knew what this little guy was expecting.
The tentacles wrapped around Ming’s head, rubbing vigorously: "Well done! Well done! Tonight, there’ll be extra food, eating delicious mushroom stew oysters!"
Before he finished speaking, the mycelial tentacles wrapped around Ming’s ankle, swinging him like a handy weapon into a whirring "human windmill," then smashing towards a large pre-prepared oyster!
Since the Seventh Floor of the Underground City turned into a shallow water area, this type of oyster became one of the few surviving shell-type demons.
Lin Jun now regularly goes to harvest a batch, simultaneously feeding them some mushrooms to maintain their population, and it can be considered semi-cultivated now.
With a crisp cracking sound, the hard oyster shell shattered upon impact!
Ming’s face was covered with bits of broken shell, yet he climbed up unfazed.
Recently praised, he chuckled as he scooped out the plump oyster meat from the cracked shell.
Whether or not he eats the oyster didn’t matter, but he loves being praised by the boss!
The Drilling Puki quickly prepared the mushroom stew oysters, with a cup of mushroom juice on the side, which was Ming’s dinner.
Ming held the steaming Drilling Puki, sitting close to Marshal Puki.
Born with the fusion of mycelium, Ming has a natural affinity for Puki.
In fact, he feels close to everyone he sees.
The surrounding folks, whether Mushroom Race or captives, all have mycelium, it’s just that Puki makes him feel a bit more connected.
Even the green uncle who stays on the pole all day shouting and yelling, in his eyes is just a bit noisy, not annoying.
Actually, according to convention, Ming during this infancy period should be closely protected, but since Ming has this absurd innate trait of [Physical Immunity], it isn’t necessary to be so cautious.
Regrettably, this powerful [Physical Immunity] characteristic is something Lin Jun himself cannot acquire.
[Greed] cannot extract those skills granted by Lin Jun.
The [Physical Immunity] in Ming relies on Lin Jun first granting [Physical Resistance Level 10], then through the "cradle" newborn ceremony, seizing and merging another [Physical Resistance Level 10] from the sacrificial Gallon, ultimately creating it.
Similarly, because this special skill is created through the "cradle" newborn ceremony, each Mushroom Race only has a chance to acquire it at birth.
This means in the future, if suitable sacrifices are found, Lin Jun might still breed Mushroom Race with [Magic Immunity] or other amazing traits, but couldn’t concentrate all these powerful skills into a single individual.
There is a bit of regret.
Otherwise, an army of Pukis with physical immunity... world domination would be imminent!
In reality, even though such physically immune Mushroom Race cannot be mass-produced, after all, where to find so many similar to Gallon with full-level resistance guys for sacrifice?
It’s not impossible...
That day on the battlefield of the Crimson Tower, several were seen, but unfortunately, they were all wild, with no chance to capture.
So, not all Mushroom Races could have such innate advantages as Ming.
This time, Xing Huo presided over several newborn ceremonies in a row, successfully welcoming over ten new clansmen.
However, these newborn Mushroom Races are not as inherently gifted as Ming, born without transcendent special skills.
Most of what they acquired are mundane base resistances like [Physical Resistance Level 10], [Cold Resistance Level 8], [Magic Resistance Level 8].
Endowing these blank slates with base skills doesn’t consume much of Lin Jun’s magic power.
The real issue is that waiting for them to grow up and form a combat-effective force takes quite some time.
Except for the special Ming, all the newborn Mushroom Races were placed in the safe Mushroom Garden, carefully looked after by Xing Huo.
And in the Far North, at the former location of the Demon Tribe. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It was first transformed into a fortress, then completely destroyed in a self-destruction.
Currently, the captives and demons are frantically building a new settlement here with Pukis.
Currently, half-demons, Lizardmen, etc., still holding captive status, are squeezing into shared wooden houses, which is still acceptable.
But if they regain freedom in the future and still maintain such rudimentary living conditions, it will likely fail to retain their loyalty.
Lin Jun has never advocated a reign of terror, improving the living environment and quality naturally becomes a priority.
The initial plan is to build a city capable of accommodating about ten thousand people.
After all, the fungal mat in the Far North is still continually spreading, gradually encroaching on neighboring tribes.
In line with the usual strategy, Lin Jun plans to gradually infiltrate and assimilate these areas.
In the future, there will undoubtedly be more people, naturally necessitating the reservation of some space.
Originally, Lin Jun intended to build an underground city.
In narrow, enclosed, and structurally complex underground environments, Pukis can demonstrate their greatest combat skills.
The defense of the underground city would be several times that of an ordinary city.
However, when the underground network was turned into an underground city, thorny issues immediately arose.
Severe seepage, unpredictable partial collapses, maddening ventilation problems...
Even though Lin Jun tried reinforcing supports, strengthening rock walls, digging more ventilation shafts, it didn’t work.
A layman will always be a layman, thinking must still abide by certain rules!
On the continent, only Dwarves and Mouse People seem to have experience in this field, unfortunately, Lin Jun hasn’t had much contact with either.
Can only make do, building an ordinary settlement first.
