My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 122: This Is How You Get Spoiled
The teddy bear was made of a soft, comfortable fabric.
Its shape had likely been designed as well—it was the perfect size for a full embrace.
After washing up, Stella Sterling came out and lay on the bed for a while, hugging the little bear version of Owen Rhodes.
’Hmm, I really like this gift. I guess I’ll forgive him.’
After dinner, Owen Rhodes called.
"Are you tired today?"
Stella Sterling was sitting in her bedroom hugging the Owen bear, her phone on speaker on the small coffee table.
"I’m alright. I didn’t get enough sleep, so I barely painted today."
The man on the other end of the line chuckled softly. "My fault."
"Of course it’s your fault!"
Sensing she was about to get upset, Owen Rhodes quickly asked, "Did you get the gift?"
"Mhm, I got it. Thank you!"
Just from the sound of her voice, Owen Rhodes could tell Stella Sterling was in a pretty good mood. It seemed she was placated.
"Remember to sleep with it tonight."
’Huh? Why?’
She didn’t understand until that evening, when she discovered the doll had a built-in thermostat and heating element.
’That Owen Rhodes... sometimes, he was so thoughtful it was impossible to stay mad at him.’
Stella Sterling fell asleep in the fluffy warmth, never expecting that the next day, she would once again be woken up by Owen Rhodes.
Right on time, the Owen bear emitted a gentle voice. "Stella, time to get up. Stella, my little piggy, time to get up!"
Stella Sterling was a little groggy at first and thought she was hearing things.
Only after she became more alert did she realize the voice was coming from the doll in her arms.
Stella Sterling couldn’t help but smile, then she got up to wash her face and brush her teeth.
She didn’t know what kind of program was built into the doll, but it was smart enough to stop Owen Rhodes’s wake-up call as soon as it sensed she was out of bed.
Even though Owen Rhodes wasn’t there to prepare a snack pack for her today, Tate had one ready.
Ken took care of arranging everything else.
It seemed that, for the time being, she didn’t have to worry about anything but painting.
’Yep, this is how you get spoiled rotten.’
But then she glanced at her left arm, still in a sling against her chest.
’Oh well, it’s only for two weeks. I probably won’t be completely useless that fast.’
That afternoon, Faye Rhodes came to the studio again.
Ever since Stella Sterling had started her work, Faye Rhodes had been showing up at the studio every day.
She stared at the canvas, which for now only had a rough sketch, and let out a "Wow."
Her tone was so sincere that even Stella Sterling couldn’t help but say, "Faye, I think you might be seeing me through some seriously rose-colored glasses."
"No way!" Faye Rhodes said earnestly. "Even though it’s just an outline, I can already imagine what it will look like when it’s finished."
Besides!
’She was actually getting to see the entire painting process. This was the ultimate honor!’
But it was precisely because she had been watching Stella’s conceptual process over the past few days, watching her sketch out the composition on the canvas, that she had faintly confirmed something.
’She had long suspected it, but back then, it was just a suspicion.’
’These past few days, she wasn’t just supervising Stella’s work as a client; she was also looking for confirmation for her own peace of mind.’
’As it turned out, her little intuition-radar was highly sensitive and hadn’t failed her.’
’Since there was nothing wrong with Stella, the problem must lie with Kiana Sterling.’
Seeing Faye Rhodes suddenly stare out the window without a word, Stella Sterling couldn’t help but ask, "What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?"
Faye Rhodes snapped back to reality, the look she gave Stella Sterling somewhat complicated.
She stared at Stella Sterling for a moment, then suddenly grabbed her right hand.
Stella Sterling quickly said, "Hey, I haven’t washed the paint off my hand yet."
Faye Rhodes paid it no mind and said earnestly, "Umi, I’ll always be your most loyal fan!"
Stella Sterling paused, then couldn’t help but laugh. "Alright, thank you."
’Oh my god...’
’Look, my aunt-in-law is so beautiful even when she laughs.’
’Who’s the lucky one here...?’
’Oh, my little uncle is.’
’Way to go, Uncle!’
Stella Sterling felt an inexplicable, fervent heat in the way the short-haired girl was looking at her.
Just as she was about to say something, a shadow fell over them, and a dark figure flashed past.
She felt a tug on her hand. Thankfully, Faye Rhodes let go quickly, so her good right hand wasn’t injured.
Stella Sterling turned her head and saw...
The look on Zion Shawcross’s face was equally complex as his gaze shifted between her and Faye Rhodes.
’She had a gut feeling Zion Shawcross had misunderstood something.’
Before she could explain, Faye Rhodes was already glaring at him, her expression turning hostile.
"What do you think you’re doing! Can’t you see Umi is injured? You were so rough! What if her other hand gets hurt too?"
As she spoke, Faye Rhodes turned to look at Stella Sterling anxiously.
Stella Sterling shook her head to show she was fine, then quietly slipped away from the budding conflict.
’Zion Shawcross’s path to winning over Faye Rhodes might not be smooth, but it would certainly be interesting.’
...
Ethan Rhodes had just learned that Owen Rhodes was on a business trip in Veridia.
He had fallen down the stairs during the Rhodes family banquet, so Yolanda Thorne, still worried, had insisted he rest at home, even though he said he was fine.
He’d been quite lucky, all things considered. He had fallen down the stairs and crashed into a liquor cabinet, yet he’d only sustained superficial injuries.
The bruises looked awful, but no bones were broken.
He had been resting at home these past few days, not going in to work at Kyros.
It was only from seeing Evan Rhodes’s social media post today that he learned Owen Rhodes had gone to Veridia for work.
His heart, which had finally managed to settle, suddenly grew restless again with Owen Rhodes’s temporary absence.
He’d been idle these past few days, and an idle mind was prone to overthinking.
And he had indeed thought a lot—about him and Stella Sterling, and about him and Kiana Sterling.
It had been some time since he’d recovered his memories, but he still found it hard to believe that Stella Sterling had actually married Owen Rhodes.
He also found it hard to believe that Stella Sterling would actually leave him.
Resentment festered in his heart. He might have been able to accept Stella leaving, but he could not accept her leaving him for Owen Rhodes.
He was desperate to find Stella and confirm whether she had only left him because Owen Rhodes had forced her to.
He desperately wanted to see Stella.
The urge had grown stronger and stronger over the past few days.
But Yolanda Thorne wouldn’t let him leave the house, and he had no way of contacting Stella.
Just as he was thinking about this, Kiana Sterling arrived.
Ethan Rhodes was lying in bed when Kiana Sterling came in carrying a fruit platter, a smile breaking out on her face the moment she saw him.
"Ethan, would you like some fruit? A friend recommended some wonderful honey peaches. I know you like them, so I cut some up for you."
Ethan Rhodes looked at Kiana Sterling’s smiling face, unable to put a name to the feeling in his heart.
’Kiana was beautiful, but... not as beautiful as Stella.’
He managed a small smile. "Thank you, Kiana."
The smile on Kiana Sterling’s face faltered. "Ethan, you’ve never been so formal with me before."
Ethan Rhodes’s brow furrowed for a moment.
He walked over and took the fruit platter. "Don’t read too much into it. I’m genuinely grateful that you’re always thinking of me."
Hearing this, Kiana Sterling gave a shy, happy smile.
Then she heard Ethan Rhodes ask, "Kiana, do you know what Stella has been up to lately?"
