My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 85: What’s Owen’s is Sister-in-law’s, and Sister-in-law is the Boss
The background music in the private room had stopped the moment Stella Sterling was pushed in. Now, everyone’s gaze was fixed on the few people at the center of the conflict.
Stella Sterling’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough for everyone to hear.
It was a well-known fact that Felix Hollis wasn’t exactly handsome, but out of respect for the Hollis Family, no one ever brought it up.
Only Stella Sterling had the guts to openly call Felix Hollis "memorably ugly."
The few young women sitting to the side had been called here tonight to keep Felix Hollis company. When they agreed to come, their intentions weren’t entirely pure.
But those little ideas vanished the moment they got a clear look at him.
But money is hard to earn, and some jobs just suck. Since they were already here, they had no choice but to bite the bullet and put on a show.
Stella Sterling’s words had clearly struck a chord.
In the dead silent room, a stifled laugh escaped from someone, and Felix Hollis’s face instantly turned shades of green and white.
Once he processed it, he rolled up his sleeves and charged toward Stella Sterling.
"Stella Sterling, you fucking—"
Chase Sterling’s brow furrowed. He subconsciously moved to stop him, but then had a second thought. ’Stella just humiliated me completely. After she insulted me so harshly, why should I go out of my way to help her?’
With that thought, he settled back onto the sofa.
’This would teach Stella a lesson.’
"Mr. Hollis! I’m so sorry!" Kiana Sterling apologized loudly, stepping in front of Felix Hollis to block him.
She forced a smile. "Mr. Hollis, my apologies. Our Stella is a bit spoiled and blunt. Please don’t stoop to her level. If you’d like to drink, Mr. Hollis, how about I join you?"
"No!" Chase Sterling immediately shot back. "Kiana, you were just discharged from the hospital. Don’t joke around with your health."
Speaking of the hospital, Chase’s expression darkened. "And on that note, Stella is the one with undeniable responsibility for you fainting yesterday, Kiana. So she should be the one to drink!"
Stella Sterling listened from the side, completely bewildered.
"Are you serious? How am I suddenly responsible for Kiana fainting yesterday? Chase, you should get your head checked. You’re seriously sick!"
Chase Sterling shot her a cold, dark glare. "If you hadn’t been clinging to Ethan, would Kiana have gotten so emotional that she fainted?"
Sometimes, when you’re rendered speechless, all you can do is laugh.
’At the hospital last night, the police must have reported the objective facts.’
’For Chase to be saying this, Kiana must have added her own embellishments afterward.’
She gave a cold laugh. "And what kind of ’good brother’ are you, bringing her to a place like this on the very night she gets out of the hospital? Seems like you’re not so great yourself."
"Stella! You’re being completely unreasonable!" Chase slammed his good left hand on the table and shot to his feet. "You’re drinking this liquor today whether you want to or not!"
At this point, Stella knew she was outnumbered and couldn’t win. She decided to just go along with it. "Fine, I’ll drink."
"What?"
Chase was surprised that Stella had agreed so readily.
Felix Hollis, off to the side, was also surprised. After all that commotion, Stella Sterling had actually agreed to drink with him.
’Hah, and here he thought she would hold out for longer. So this is all she amounted to.’
The anger from his earlier humiliation was instantly forgotten. Felix Hollis sat back down on the sofa, his eyes glued to Stella, as all sorts of ideas began to sprout in his mind one after another.
Stella said, "Since I have to drink, it’s not too much to ask to order a few things I actually want to drink, is it?"
"Why are you always so difficult?" Chase intuitively felt she was up to something.
Stella ignored him and looked toward Felix Hollis, who was gloating. "Mr. Hollis, may I?"
"Order."
Since Felix Hollis had given his approval, Chase couldn’t object. He could only let out a cold snort and sit back down.
Stella picked up the tablet in the room to place an order. Kiana tried to persuade her from the side, "Stella, you can’t hold your liquor. Stop making a scene. Just apologize to Mr. Hollis properly, and we can go home, okay?"
For once, Stella didn’t argue back. "I already agreed. I can’t go back on my word. Worst case, I’ll just drink myself to death tonight."
"What are you talking about! Stop this nonsense. I’ll help you drink in a bit. You just be a good girl and apologize to Mr. Hollis."
The corner of Stella’s mouth twitched into a smirk, but she said nothing.
A few moments later, there was a knock on the door.
The man who had been guarding the door finally stood up and moved aside.
This was the same man who had gone to the restroom with Felix Hollis earlier. If he hadn’t been blocking the door this whole time, Stella would have left long ago.
Stella turned and asked Kiana, "What’s that guy’s name?"
The farce wasn’t over yet, so no one else in the room dared to make a sound, quietly watching the big shots’ drama unfold.
So when Stella asked her question, Felix Hollis sneered, "What? Has Miss Stella Sterling taken a liking to him?"
Stella smiled. "I have. I’d like to get to know him."
Instantly, the faces of both Felix Hollis and the man darkened.
One out of anger, the other out of fear.
A handsome young man with short hair pushed in a cart full of alcohol. "Honored guest, here is the liquor you ordered."
Stella looked up and smiled.
’It was Julian Chandler.’
He wore a black waiter’s vest over a loose white T-shirt—a rather half-hearted attempt at a uniform.
"Could you please open all the bottles for me?"
Stella walked over and, while Julian Chandler was bent over opening a bottle, she murmured, "Put the bill for Ariana Grant’s room tonight on Chase Sterling’s tab, too."
After speaking, she took the bottle of imported liquor Julian had just opened and poured herself a full glass.
She carried the glass over to Chase. "So I absolutely have to drink tonight, is that right?"
Chase said, his voice resonant with anger, "Yes!"
Kiana immediately ran over. "Brother! Stella can’t drink, don’t force her. Stella, stop this. Just admit you’re wrong to Mr. Hollis, and let’s not drink."
Stella softened her voice and asked Felix Hollis, "Mr. Hollis, is it possible for me not to drink?"
"Hmph, so you know how to back down now? Where’d all that toughness go? No! You have to drink!"
Stella bit her lip, looking so aggrieved she might burst into tears at any moment.
Kiana snatched the glass from her hand. "Stella, apologize to Mr. Hollis, and I’ll drink this for you, okay?"
Hearing this, Stella looked up at her. "Okay. Go ahead and drink it."
"...What?"
Kiana was stunned.
"Didn’t you just offer to drink for me? I said okay."
"..."
Even though Kiana knew she had fallen into Stella’s trap, she was speechless.
After all, she was the one who had offered to drink for Stella in the first place.
The room had been quiet then; everyone had heard her.
Now, Stella asked pitifully, "Sister, why aren’t you saying anything? Was your offer to drink for me just a lie?"
Kiana’s face paled, a venomous hatred showing in her eyes as she looked at Stella.
Just then, Julian Chandler stepped forward and handed the bill to Chase Sterling. "Sir, here is the bill. Could you please confirm it?"
Chase took one look and was stunned.
"Five million! Stella, what the hell did you order that costs five million!"
Stella looked completely innocent. "I don’t know. I don’t come to places like this often, so I don’t really get it. I just randomly ordered some drinks."
Julian Chandler explained from the side, "Sir, allow me to clarify. On the bill, two million is for the beverages and the room fee. The remaining three million is the fee to have our boss come out and drink with you."
Chase’s brows knitted together. "When did I ask your boss to come out and drink?"
Julian Chandler gestured respectfully toward Stella with both hands. "She is our boss."
’Owen funded most of the Qillian Club,’ Julian thought. ’And what belongs to Owen belongs to his wife. Therefore, his wife is the boss!’
