Chapter 48: Morning Delivery

Opening his eyes, Feng Wu was surprised to see that the porcelain bowls and plates were gone. He turned to Feng Xiyan and said, "Master, this..."

Feng Xiyan motioned toward the incense burner and said, "The only way for Heaven to accept our offerings is through sincere prayer."

Hearing this, Feng Wu nodded and stuck the incense on the incense burner. He then clasped his fists and said, "Thank you, Master, for enlightening me."

Feng Xiyan waved his hand and ordered, "You can return to your post now."

"Yes, Master." With that, Feng Wu vanished from the tent.

After Feng Wu left, Feng Xiyan performed his morning prayer before wiping his body with a wet cloth and changing into clean clothes.

After tying his hair up, Feng Xiyan wore only his daily attire and didn’t put on his armor. Carrying his sword and the mirror wrapped in red silk, he mounted his war horse and rode back to the Great General’s mansion.

Today marked the third day since the porridge stalls had been set up near the Great General’s mansion. As usual, there was a large crowd queuing in front of the stalls.

Seeing that the line stretched for several miles, Feng Xiyan ordered the servants distributing the porridge stalls to set up five additional stalls to speed up porridge distribution.

After inspecting the porridge stalls, Feng Xiyan headed to the city wall to assess the situation there.

While Feng Xiyan was busy with his morning routine, Bai Hanyun had just finished her breakfast. Before she could clean up the dishes, the goods she had ordered from Li Dagou arrived.

Seeing that the delivery team was the same as before, Bai Hanyun opened the gate for them and said, "Brothers, please help me bring them to the backyard."

Having delivered goods to her twice before, the deliverymen were familiar with Bai Hanyun’s generosity. Without wasting time, they began unloading the goods and moving them to the backyard.

Once they finished, Bai Hanyun handed each of them 100 yuan and sent them off. Just as she closed the gate and transferred the remaining payment to Li Dagou, three trucks stopped in front of her house.

Opening the gate again, Bai Hanyun recognized the man standing there—it was the one she had bought winter melon from.

"Are you here to deliver the vegetables, Brother Tan?" she asked with a smile.

Tan Hao nodded and explained, "I sent you a message, but you didn’t reply, so I decided to deliver them today."

Checking her WeChat, Bai Hanyun saw that he had indeed messaged her, but it was late at night, and she had already gone to bed.

"I went to bed early last night, so I didn’t see your message. Brother Tan, what kind of vegetables did you bring today?"

Instead of answering her, Tan Hao turned to the other villagers and said, "Brothers, unload the goods."

Feeling curious, Bai Hanyun approached the trucks and saw that today’s vegetables included carrots, radishes, and water spinach. There was even a truck full of watermelons on the third truck.

Her eyes lit up at the sight of watermelons. Turning to Tan Hao, Bai Hanyun asked, "Brother Tan, how much for all of these?"

Tan Hao took out a paper listing the amount and price of the vegetables, and then showed it to her.

"Miss Bai, carrots are 2.5 yuan per kilogram. We have 5,000 kilograms today, so that’s 12,500 yuan. Radishes are 2 yuan per kilogram, and we brought 10,000 kilograms, totaling 20,000 yuan."

"As for the water spinach, it’s 6 yuan per kilogram. I brought 3,000 kilograms today, totaling 18,000 yuan. Our watermelons are sold per piece, not by weight. Each weighs about 10 kilograms on average."

"I discussed with the villagers and they agreed to sell the watermelons at 30 yuan each. We brought 5,000 today, which totals 150,000 yuan."

After listing the prices, Tan Hao smiled and added, "Since you are our valued customer, Miss Bai, I will give you a discount. Just pay 200,000 yuan for everything."

Although the discount was small, Bai Hanyun appreciated the gesture. She nodded and said, "Deal. Please help move them to the yard."

Tan Hao’s eyes lit up with relief at her words.

When he decided to bring the vegetables and watermelons this morning, the villagers had mocked him for being reckless. If Bai Hanyun didn’t buy them, he would have taken a huge loss.

Tan Hao was hesitant at first, but recalling yesterday’s conversation with Bai Hanyun, he decided to take the risk—and it paid off.

With a smile, he said, "No problem."

Tan Hao turned to the villagers waiting by the trucks and said, "Brothers, let’s move everything in!"

The villagers, who had been anxious during the trip, finally felt at ease.

All the way here, they had worried they were wasting time and fuel. Now that Bai Hanyun agreed to buy the goods, their spirits soared.

"Yes, Brother Tan!" They said and began to unload the goods.

As the villagers moved the vegetables and watermelons, Bai Hanyun transferred the money to Tan Hao and said, "Brother Tan, if you have more vegetables and fruits in the future, please contact me. I will take them all."

Hearing this, Tan Hao’s eyes lit up. Accepting the payment, he quickly replied, "Don’t worry, Miss Bai. I will give you priority."

"Good."

After unloading everything, Tan Hao and the villagers left in a good mood.

Bai Hanyun then locked the gate and went to the living room to retrieve the antique mirror. She tapped the frame twice and waited for the surface to clear before looking into it.

Seeing only red cloth, Bai Hanyun asked, "Feng Xiyan, are you there?"

Standing atop the city wall, Feng Xiyan heard her voice. He quickly took out the mirror from his robe, unwrapped it, and replied, "Fairy Bai, I’m here."

Suddenly seeing his handsome face up close, Bai Hanyun was momentarily stunned before saying, "I’m going to send you some supplies. Can you receive them now?"
