My Childhood Bully is a Mafia Boss-Chapter 113
Ivy
I felt like I couldn’t breathe as I waited for my parents to arrive.
I felt emotional earlier and asked Aidan to invite them, but now that they were actually coming, I didn’t know how to feel.
I had been keeping everything from my parents since I moved in with Aidan. I lied to them constantly when they asked for my whereabouts. They had no idea I was pregnant! And now they will be here and the truth will come out.
Oh god, I am going to throw up!
I watched the clock tick, each second feeling like an eternity as I waited for my parents to arrive. My nerves were on edge, and I couldn’t shake off the feeling of suffocation.
But I couldn’t keep living a lie. I didn’t want to hide my pregnancy and relationship with Aidan anymore, and I wanted my parents to know the truth about my life.
The sound of the doorbell pulled me out of my thoughts, and I took a deep breath.
Was it them?
But it was only Lila.
"Ivy! Oh my god! I am so glad you are okay," Lila screamed and threw her arms around me.
"Huh? Why wouldn’t I be okay?" I asked. My heart was filled with happiness seeing my best friend again.
"I don’t know...you are living with a dang Mafia Boss. I’d been scared out of my wits for you ever since you told me. It’s a miracle that I didn’t call the cops," Lila said.
"And I am glad you didn’t," I said.
"How are you? And look at you! You are huge!" Lila exclaimed.
"I’d be offended if I wasn’t so pregnant," I grinned.
I couldn’t help but laugh at Lila’s blunt observation. She had a way of cutting through all the pretense and landing right on the mark. As she prattled on about how I was glowing like a soon-to-be mom, I felt a surge of gratitude for her presence in my life.
Just then, Aidan appeared at the doorway, looking as suave and charming as ever. His eyes softened as they landed on me, and I felt a rush of warmth in my chest. Lila shot me a knowing look before excusing herself with a sly smile.
Aidan came over to me, his hand resting lightly on my bump. "Are you ready for tonight?" he asked, his voice filled with excitement.
I nodded, feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation swirling inside me. Taking his hand in mine, I squeezed it gently, drawing strength from his unwavering support. "I am just nervous. What if my parents freak out and do something crazy like try to send you to prison?"
"Don’t worry, Ivy. It’s going to be fine," Aidan reassured me, his gaze unwavering as he spoke. His calm demeanor always had a way of soothing my anxious heart.
As we waited for my parents to arrive, the minutes felt like hours ticking by. The anticipation hung heavy in the air, each passing second adding to the tension coiled in my chest.
Finally, the doorbell rang again, and this time, it was my parents standing on the threshold. I could see the shock flicker across their faces as they took in the sight of Aidan and me together, his hand protectively on my bump. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Words failed me as I tried to find the right thing to say, but before I could utter a single syllable, my mother’s voice pierced through the silence.
"What is the meaning of this, Ivy?" she demanded, her eyes flashing in disbelief. My father stood beside her, his expression unreadable but his disapproval evident.
Aidan stepped forward, his posture exuding confidence as he greeted them politely. "Mr. and Mrs. Williams. I understand this might come as a surprise..."
My mother cut him off sharply, her tone icy. "Surprise? This is an outrage! What have you done to our daughter?"
"Mom, Dad... I have something important to tell you," I began, my voice trembling slightly but filled with determination. "I’m pregnant... and Aidan is the father."
"No shit, you are pregnant!" Mom exclaimed, and I almost giggled at her expression.
"Mrs. Williams..." Aidan started again, but Mom cut him off.
"And who are you? How come Ivy never told me about having a boyfriend who got her pregnant!?" she barked.
"Sweetheart, let’s all have a seat so Ivy can explain herself," my father tried to calm her down.
I felt the weight of their gazes bearing down on me, judging and questioning every decision I had made. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself before speaking, "I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. I know this isn’t what you expected, but Aidan and I are in love."
My mother’s eyes narrowed, suspicion evident in her voice. "In love? How can you be sure he’s not just taking advantage of you?" Her words stung, and I felt a surge of protectiveness rise within me.
"Aidan loves me, Mom. And I am a grown woman," I defended him, my tone unwavering.
Mom squinted her eyes at him.
"Hang on...Aidan...are you that boy from high school that used to be friends with Ivy?" she asked him.
Aidan’s eyes held mine for a heartbeat before turning to my mother, his expression earnest. "Yes, Mrs. Williams. I am that boy. And I care deeply for Ivy."
My mother seemed to be processing this information, her features softening slightly as she looked between us. "Ivy, why didn’t you tell us about this sooner? We could’ve helped you," she said, the edge in her voice replaced with a hint of concern.
"I don’t know," I lied. Now, how do I tell them that Aidan is in the Mafia?
Mom shook her head and stared at Aidan. "You...okay. You are all grown up now, but I remember you clearly."
Aidan nodded enthusiastically. "Yes. Then you should also remember that you liked me back then." He grinned.
"I thought you were a nice kid back then," Mom said. "But now I am not so sure anymore. You had my daughter sneaking around and got her pregnant!"
"Mom! We didn’t sneak around. Like I said. I am a grown woman, and I can make my own decisions. I decided to be with Aidan, and the pregnancy is an accident," I protested.
"An accident," she said dryly.
"You look like you are at least five months pregnant," my father began.
"Seven months, actually," I corrected him.
Irritation flared in his eyes. "Seven months pregnant, and you decided to tell us about it now?"
"I know this isn’t ideal, Dad. But things were complicated and I didn’t know how to tell you," I admitted, feeling a pang of guilt.
Aidan stepped forward, his voice calm and reassuring. "Mr. and Mrs. Williams, I understand this is a lot to take in. But I want to assure you that I love Ivy and our unborn child. I will do everything in my power to provide for them and keep them safe."
My parents exchanged a skeptical glance, and I could sense their hesitation. But to my surprise, my mother spoke up, her tone softer than before.
"Okay, Ivy. We’ll support you. But we need to talk more about this. And Aidan, you need to tell us more about yourself. What do you do for a living?"
Oh, crap. Here we go.
Aidan hesitated, and I knew he was unsure how much to reveal.
"I’m a businessman, Mrs. Williams. I have...investments and properties. And I’m also involved in... other ventures," he said carefully.
My father’s eyes narrowed, sensing that there was more to the story. "What kind of ventures?"
Aidan took a deep breath before responding, and his voice was measured. "Maybe now is not the best time to talk about business."
"Mom, Dad, I want you to know that Aidan is a good person. He loves me and our baby, and he will do everything to keep us safe," I said, my voice filled with conviction.
Calling Aidan a good person is a bit of a stretch, but at least his loving me part was true.
Mom nodded. "Okay, I’ll accept it for now." She smiled brightly. "But only because I’m very excited about having a grandchild. Oh, Ivy. I thought you’d never settle down and have kids."
My guilt and worry was now replaced with embarrassment. "Mom! What does that supposed to mean?" I asked, frowning.
"All I’m saying is that you used to bury yourself in your work too much and didn’t date as a young woman should’ve. So I’m glad Aidan snatched you away before you ended up alone as some bitter old woman," Mom said bluntly.
I groaned. I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mother’s mouth!
