My Dragon King System-Chapter 353: The Battle Of Guild Captains (Finale)
From her position at Team A’s line, Elena had been watching everything unfold carefully.
Elian and Melisende had their hands full with Ursula above. Veron and Greyfus seemed locked in a perfectly matched battle of swords and explosions, with neither giving ground to the other.
While Daegal maintained his hold against a relentless Azam.
But it was in that moment that Elena realized her action could be the deciding factor to winning this easily.
And moreover... "I’m also a guild captain like you all."
She whispered the words to herself.
Elena had always been the type of person who listened to orders from those in positions of authority or those older than her.
Ever since becoming a guild master, she had never made full decisions on her own without consulting Oliver or the other captains first.
But right in that moment, she decided to take that bold step forward, and not just simply do as Captain Azam had asked, which was staying put.
Elena raised one hand slowly, and a blue magic circle materialized above her palm. She hesitated for a second, realizing the magnitude of the spell she was about to cast.
But then she said to herself, "To win by any means necessary."
She repeated King Oberon’s instructions to herself before finally saying in a solemn voice:
"Convergence."
A massive magic circle glowed beneath her feet, and in that instant, a tremendous volume of water gushed out from it, lifting Elena up, while she stayed perfectly balanced atop the rising torrent.
The wall of water behind her immediately collapsed downward and merged with the massive surge now pouring from the circle beneath her.
That collapse and merge caused an advancing tsunami that towered over the entire field like a moving mountain.
And Elena rode the wave so gracefully.
Everyone fighting momentarily stopped—even those battling in the air, as they turned toward what looked like a literal ocean barreling across the battlefield.
In mere seconds, those on the ground saw a towering wave that cast shadows over them entirely.
And then the water crashed down on every single one of them.
CRAAAAAASH!
Azam tried to run away in a burst of speed to avoid being caught by the wave, but he had waited for too long to act.
At this point, his velocity couldn’t outpace it entirely, and the sheer external force of the water slammed into him mid-sprint and swept him off his feet.
Greyfus was blasted backward, tumbling helplessly through the churning torrent as explosions fizzled uselessly around him.
Veron’s conjured swords dissolved instantly as she was engulfed and thrown violently across the field.
Daegal’s wind defenses shattered like glass under the crushing weight of Elena’s tsunami, and he along with it.
Elena rode the waves cleanly through their defenses, sliding effortlessly past Daegal’s broken barrier and crossing Team B’s finishing line with calm composure as water pooled around her feet.
Ursula had wide eyes, while Elian and Melisende stared down in stunned disbelief at what had just happened below them.
Talen immediately saw how devastating these waves would be, and how they were continuing outward toward where the spectating mages stood watching with shocked expressions.
He launched himself into the air with Mystic Field active and stretched both hands toward the oncoming tsunami.
"Distort!"
His distortion magic warped reality around the waves’ movement, forcing their direction away from the path that would’ve drowned every spectator present.
The water curved unnaturally mid-flow and crashed into empty ground instead.
From the sidelines, Oberon’s eyes were wide with shock as he stared at what Elena had just done.
Thamoryn beside him had an equally stunned expression before slowly shaking her head in disbelief. "That girl..."
Oliver stood among the younger Ravens Grave members with his mouth slightly open, but then a smile spread across his face as he nodded approvingly.
"That’s more like it, Elena."
——
It seemed like all of it had passed now. The field was soaked and silent for a long moment as everyone tried to process what had just happened.
Water dripped from their uniforms as the captains of both Team A and B slowly picked themselves up from where they had been scattered across the battlefield; drenched and battered.
"Uhm..." Talen scratched his head as he stared at the battlefield. Team A still had their line intact, and Elena had gone past Team B’s
I think... we can safely say Team A has won."
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause from every mage, even including those from other guilds.
They all couldn’t help but acknowledge the power of Ravens Grave Captain.
Azam doubled over slightly. He had hands on his knees as he caught his breath, but couldn’t stop grinning even as water dripped down his soaked hair.
Ursula descended gracefully from above, landing beside Elena.
Elena allowed herself a small smile as the captain of starry maidens approached her with a nod of approval
"That final move," Ursula said quietly enough that only Elena could hear. "That was a good decision"
Elena inclined her head in acknowledgment.
On Team B’s side, the guild masters were picking themselves up off the ground looking wet, disheveled, and more than a little embarrassed by how decisively they’d just lost.
But regardless, they had nothing but respect for Elena.
Oberon approached them with Thamoryn by his side. "Well done! All of you"
They inclined their heads almost at the same time.
"This exhibition match has shown me exactly what I needed to see! You’ve all proven yourselves worthy of being called champions"
He acknowledged them once more with a bow before turning to leave with his second wife.
Murmurs ran through the crowd as members of the guilds starts gathering towards their guild captains.
"Good Job" Oliver said kindly before embracing Elena. He was really proud she pulled that off in the manner that she did.
As the crowd began dispersing slowly back toward the encampment area, Oberon caught Elena’s eye briefly across the distance between them, and gave her an approving nod which she returned respectfully before turning away herself alongside the rest of the guild
