My Exclusive Dream World Adventures-Chapter 88 - 0 Resignation
Chapter 88: 088 Resignation
Dai Zixin watched in stunned disbelief as Chen Xu actually dared to openly confront the famously ruthless Director Luo, her mouth agape with shock. She sneaked a glance at Director Luo’s face, noticing a subtle shift in her expression, and immediately felt overwhelming pressure bearing down on her.
Remembering all the various rumors she had heard before, she suddenly felt a flutter of fear and could not help but worry for Chen Xu.
“What do you mean?” Luo Xiyun’s voice was a bit cold.
“We have a normal colleague relationship, a comparatively good one. Does the company not allow male and female colleagues to interact?” Chen Xu’s voice sounded not at all panicked; his tone was calm, not agitated. It wasn’t a question or an accusation, just a statement.
For a second or two, Luo Xiyun was silent.
On the side, Dai Zixin felt as if the air itself was solidifying, not daring even to breathe heavily.
Ding—
The elevator arrived, breaking the silence between the three of them.
“Be mindful of yourself.”
After saying this, Luo Xiyun walked toward the elevator.
Dai Zixin looked at her retreating figure with a face full of shock. That was it? She just let Chen Xu off the hook so easily?
What about the cold-hearted reputation?
What about the blow-dryer treatment?
What about the female demon boss?
In that moment, the image of Mr. Luo in her mind started to crumble.
“What are you staring for? Hurry up and get in the elevator,” Chen Xu urged, and she followed him into the elevator.
After reaching the office, Dai Zixin waited for Luo Xiyun to enter her office, then couldn’t hold back and said to Chen Xu, “Mr. Luo doesn’t seem the same as the rumors suggest.”
While flipping open his black notebook, Chen Xu asked, “What do the rumors say about her?”
Dai Zixin found herself at a loss for words. In the office, with all the colleagues around, she wouldn’t dare to speak ill of her superior. She wasn’t that foolish.
Chen Xu continued, “There’s also a rumor in the office that we’re dating. Do you think such a rumor is reliable?”
Dai Zixin paused, suddenly realizing—of course, she herself was a victim of the company’s behind-the-scenes gossip. How could she have believed such rumors?
She felt incredibly foolish.
“You’ve been in the new department for nearly a month now. When have you ever seen her scolding anyone?” Chen Xu continued as he flipped through the notebook, “She is simply very strict about work, always focusing on issues, not people. As long as you’re not in the wrong, she won’t target you intentionally.”
After listening to him, and reflecting back on her interactions with Mr. Luo over this period, Dai Zixin found some truth in his words and couldn’t help saying, “Chen Xu, I didn’t expect you to understand Mr. Luo so well.”
“Figuring out a superior’s personality is an essential skill for every workplace professional. Don’t just blindly follow rumors,” Chen Xu said, closing the notebook and getting up to walk toward Luo Xiyun’s office.
Dai Zixin watched his retreating figure, a newfound respect dawning on her. He usually seemed so silent and low-key; she had no idea he was so insightful.
……
Knock knock.
In the office, Luo Xiyun, holding a small spray bottle, was watering the sprouting plant on her desk. Upon hearing the knocking, she put the spray bottle down, took off her gloves, and sat back in her chair before saying, “Come in.”
The door opened, and Chen Xu walked in.
She was momentarily taken aback; this was his first time knocking on her office door himself. In the past, whenever he needed something, he always relayed it through Secretary Guo.
She turned her chair slightly, facing directly ahead, and asked, “What is it?”
“There’s something I want to let you know in advance,” Chen Xu, sitting in front of her desk, said, “I’m planning to resign.”
After saying this, he felt a great sense of relief wash over him.
This content is taken from fгeewebnovёl.com.
Before, he really couldn’t make up his mind. His pressure was too great, having to send money home every month, and his own daily expenses also needed to be covered, and he had no savings. Whenever he thought about facing these situations, he didn’t dare to make decisions lightly.
Now he realized, it actually wasn’t as difficult as he had imagined.
After a few seconds, he finally heard Luo Xiyun’s response, “Why?”
Her voice sounded very calm, but Chen Xu knew her too well. From that single sentence, he detected a hint of anger.
He could understand. The new department had just been established and was in critical need of staff. His resignation would seem rather inappropriate. It was only natural for her to be upset.
However, he could only silently apologize in his heart.
“Personal reasons.”
Another brief silence followed.
This kind of silence brought an unusual feeling to Chen Xu, as if he had returned to a dream where she was giving him the cold shoulder.
“The company needs staff right now. Let’s talk about the resignation after the New Year,” Luo Xiyun broke the silence.
He composed himself and replied, “Alright.” That was his plan all along, as the time before the year-end was the busiest for the company, and he couldn’t just up and leave.
When he left the office, Chen Xu felt a bit puzzled. She wasn’t one to drag her feet. Based on his understanding of her, her expected reaction should have been to tell him to settle his salary and leave immediately.
It seemed that after taking charge of the work directly for a month, she had become a bit more rational.
He quickly found a reasonable explanation and felt somewhat relieved.
She had finally grown up a bit, which was a good thing. With her previous temperament, if she continued like that in the business world, one day she would suffer a great loss.
He stepped out of the office and encountered Secretary Guo, nodding to her as a gesture.
Secretary Guo was somewhat surprised to see him coming out of Mr. Luo’s office but didn’t ask further, instead, she knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
She pushed the door open and entered, “Mr. Luo, here is a document that needs your signature.”
Luo Xiyun received the document and glanced through it.
Secretary Guo had a strange feeling, sensing something off with Luo Xiyun’s mood from the way she flipped through the papers. She wondered, what’s wrong so early in the morning?
Luo Xiyun obviously had little patience as she quickly flipped through the document and, picking up the pen, signed.
Hiss—
As she wrote the final stroke of the character “Xiyun,” the pen tip tore right through the paper underneath.
Secretary Guo’s heart skipped a beat, as this had never happened before. When she looked down, she noticed that Luo Xiyun was gripping the pen with great force, the veins on her hand standing out.
She was sweating from her forehead, and her voice was anxious, “This…”
Luo Xiyun handed over the document, calmly saying, “Print another copy.”
“Yes.”
Secretary Guo, feeling as if she had been pardoned, picked up the document and hurriedly left the office. Before closing the door behind her, she sneaked another glance and saw her still tightly holding the signing pen.
She gently closed the door, feeling her heart pounding violently.
Having worked with Luo Xiyun for so long, it was the first time she had seen her so out of character.
What on earth had happened?
Suddenly, she remembered encountering Chen Xu just before entering. A somewhat absurd thought crossed her mind, could it be because of him?
