Chapter 760

Flying high above the Northern Forest, Anton was flabbergasted when he still received range attacks from some of the high-level monsters below. He had no choice but to fly further up. The issue was that it was really too cold, and even with his vaunted physical stats, he was forced to go down a little. He decided to endure the attacks since his defenses were powerful enough to withstand them. Those he considered dangerous, Anton simply teleported out of the way.

Based on the reactions of the monsters, Anton's supposition that his journey in the middle of the forest would be filled with battles was probably right. He did not mind fighting with the monsters, but what he did not want was to destroy the forest in the process.

Anton still needed to go on the ground when the sun had set to rest. This time, he had to summon all of his Druid summons to keep guard. Based on the power of the forest monsters, he deemed them as powerful as the dungeon monsters that he encountered past the 60th floor of the Corridors of Amuneta Dungeon. Basically, what Enoril and Leldorin had said was correct. One would not be able to survive in the middle of the forest if one did not have the power of at least a Supreme Rank Wizard.

He actually didn’t manage to get rest that night because the camp that he chose kept being attacked by powerful forest monsters. Anton was hugely surprised that an honest-to-goodness eight-headed hydra appeared.

Even when the sun appeared on the horizon, the forest monsters kept attacking. All of Anton’s summons did not have an iota of peace and kept fighting through the night. He was thankful that his summons were not sentient because if they were, they would have been filled with complaints.

Anton had to bow to the inevitable and traveled sideways, once he was up in the air, looking to get out of the forest as soon as possible. Thank goodness no one was there to see him retreat, or else his face would have been so red with embarrassment. He had kept boasting to everyone that he was powerful enough to face anything the forest could throw at him. Anton was indeed powerful enough to fight it out with the forest monsters, but the sheer number of them would cause him to fight nonstop, which was a senseless thing because he did not desire anything from the forest monsters that he could not get from dungeons. In a sense, he would be the invader, and he didn’t like the thought that he was somewhat similar to the Undead Coalition.

Thankfully, after a full day of flight that was boosted by one of his spells for faster speed, he finally got out of the forest. He saw the road and sighed at the fact that he would be using it to go to the kingdom of Enundia.

Anton could have fought off with the forest monsters, but since it was winter and the forest was knee-deep in snow, he felt that it was not worth it. If it were any other season, he would have soldiered on, just to see the different sights inside.

It was already night when he arrived at the road, so he simply retrieved his tiny house from his inventory, summoned a couple of Spirit Wolves as guard and entered it. Once the inside of his house was warm due to his Fire Wall stove, he removed his outer clothing and immediately rested. He did not even bother to eat since he was tired. He had not slept the night before and fought with the forest monsters all night long.

Even with his Pearl of the Ocean, Anton actually slept for seven hours, which was extraordinarily long for him. He wondered why that was. He had experience fighting continuously before, but the tiredness he felt last night was the first of its kind.

Anton realized that it was because when he fought with the undead, deep down, he felt that it was his duty to get rid of the cancer of this world. Fighting the monsters last night made him feel a little guilty since, in his mind, the creatures deep inside the forest were only living their lives there. Although he knew that monsters were creatures that were unnatural and should be killed, sometimes feelings were illogical.

The next day, Anton decided to stick to the roads, which were strangely devoid of snow. He summoned one of his Dire Wolves and rode its back, commanding it to move slowly and smoothly since he planned to study his Medium Array book while traveling, and when he got tired of it, he would level up his ladder Warlock. Thankfully, he had those activities that he wanted or needed to do since the northern road looked extremely boring, unlike the inside of the forest, where one could find strange and wonderful things even in the middle of winter.

After a couple of days of traveling on the northern road, Anton managed to reach level 85. He also learned a lot of things from the Array Books. He was a little confident to start creating an array to keep a specific locale permanently in a specific season. The first garden that he planned to create would be a garden that would always be in autumn and would always be in the twilight time of the day. It would be just a small area, since the expenditure in mana stones for something large would be tremendous.

Anton did not meet anyone during those two days of travel using the northern road. It was understandable since it was the middle of winter. Sensible people would usually remain inside their homes in these kinds of weather instead of trudging through snow just to explore.

On his third day on the road, Anton saw a village in the distance. He thought of going there to check it out, but seeing everything in the area was buried in snow, aside from the road, which Anton thought could be a result of some spell, meant that he would not see anything worth seeing there.

He suddenly thought of just giving up, returned to the Rose Manor, and would wait until spring before starting traveling again. If he could not wait, he could start traveling south.

Anton felt a little embarrassed at that thought. He decided to continue and would at least check out the Northern Kingdom of Enundia. People had been telling him that Enundia’s view was the best during winter. Based on what he knew, he would still need to travel a week before he reached the vicinity of Enundia. That was if he continued his slow pace of travel.

He decided to start traveling as fast as he could. With his telekinetic flight boosted by some of his spells, Anton would probably reach the kingdom in a couple of days.

After he reached that decision, Anton dismissed his dire wolf and started flying. There was no sense for him to remain on the road since there was nothing to see there. There were no travelers.

He flew nonstop until the sun had set. He set up camp away from the road, summoned spirit wolves to guard him during his rest, and spent the hours before sleep claimed him leveling up his ladder Warlock character. He wanted to reach the maximum level of the said character as soon as possible. Based on his leveling speed, there was a chance that he would not be able to reach the maximum level of all of his Diablo characters before the ladder season ended.
