My Joker System: From Low Mana Trash to the Mightiest Wizard!-Chapter 100: Betrayal
Chapter 100: Betrayal
Hal was, of course, inwardly jumping for joy at the notification he had just received.
Not to brag, but... that was the easiest 5,000 Chaos Points of his life, wasn’t it?
He didn’t have time to celebrate, though...
"YOU DAMNED BRAT!!"
The silence was soon broken by Arran’s furious roar.
In the next moment, the young master of the Fellkin race turned and charged toward Hal, sending a chill down his spine and making the hairs on his body stand on end.
Arran no longer seemed in the mood to play around after his subordinate died without leaving behind a corpse.
The battle resumed soon after, with the Fellkin young master launching the next phase himself.
Arran fired Void Orbs, reappeared beside Hal, and furiously pummeled him with punches and palm strikes.
Hal barely managed to survive by cycling through his defensive and repositioning spells, relying on creativity, a touch of boxing skill picked up at his fitness center, and a bit of luck to keep his head intact.
He somehow managed to survive for around three seconds before help finally arrived.
Hal’s skull was about to be blown off by a vicious knee to the face when, suddenly, a thick barrier formed around him, blocking Arran’s attack with immaculate timing.
He had somehow become the new Monk, with Therese and Murphy now supporting him.
He didn’t have a choice in the matter, as Arran desperately wanted his head.
The fight continued and Hal didn’t even bother counterattacking.
His wise decision and his victory from earlier finally earned him Murphy’s elusive respect.
The balding four-eyes also believed it would be better for them to simply contain Arran, wait for Yve and Liora to defeat the other Fellkin subordinate, and then gang up on the last two Fellkins in a six-on-two skirmish.
A decisive victory was in sight when, suddenly, Khan disappeared.
Lucien was momentarily confused but kept his guard up, only to find his opponent reappear behind the other Fellkin young master, snatching a small purple crystal hanging from his waist.
Hal and the others were about to get a taste of the Fellkin race’s ruthlessness and scheming nature.
Feeling something snap beneath him, Arran was jolted out of his furious trance.
He quickly looked down, his eyes widening as he realized the emergency void portal crystal was gone.
The Fellkin young master immediately realized what had happened and was utterly enraged by the betrayal.
By the time he turned to look, Khan had already handed the crystal to Akara, and both of them were crushing their own without hesitation.
"Khan!! You think my clan will let you get away with this?!" Arran roared, attempting to give chase.
When he reappeared beside Akara, however, she was already being swallowed by the void portal.
All he could do was grasp at the empty air as the portal dissipated.
A rather awkward silence settled over the majority of the human squad as a ruthless betrayal unfolded before their eyes.
It seemed the purple crystal could only teleport a single Fellkin back to the Fell continent, and only the young masters possessed one.
Khan clearly cared more about his subordinate than Arran, which was why he had stolen the latter’s crystal and decisively returned to their continent, making the bold call that the battle was already lost the moment Amirra fell to Hal.
It was obvious that Khan was the smarter of the two young masters.
Arran wouldn’t have been left in such an awkward and dangerous situation if his brain were at least three-quarters as good as Khan’s.
Lucien and Murphy weren’t among those who simply stared, however, as the two were already on the move, cutting off the betrayed Fellkin’s escape route.
Now, Arran was surrounded.
With a rage-filled heart, the young master’s body began emitting black smoke, his eyes turning pitch-black as a crimson rune emerged on his chest.
The next moment, he disappeared and reappeared right in front of Hal.
Arran punched down with all his might, aiming to crush Hal’s head and smash it into the ground, but unfortunately for him, Hal was all too aware that he would be the target in this situation.
After all, who else but he had ruined everything for the young master?
He calmly dodged the first wild punch with a [Licht Step] and the follow-up with a [Blink]. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
As for the third, he knew Therese would cast a barrier for him, so Hal decisively cast another [Dark Grip] instead.
And she did.
Arran’s fists were momentarily stopped by the barrier—though it shattered soon after—giving the dark hands that emerged from the ground time to latch onto his limbs, immobilizing him.
Lucien wouldn’t deserve his title if he still failed to relieve Hal after that brief combat sequence.
The Ice Magna Prospect, of course, delivered.
A thick dome of ice covered Hal the next moment, and although his [Dark Grip] was dishearteningly ripped apart with ease, Arran’s void fists failed to break through the barrier of frost.
At this point, the young master of the Fellkin race realized he would not be able to avenge Amirra, at least not today...so he disappeared and reappeared a few dozen meters to the right, near where Yve was.
Arran then dashed off as fast as he could, smashing through the Reinforced Earthen Wall that appeared in front of him.
Therese followed up with a mana root spell to snare the fleeing Fellkin’s feet, but unfortunately, it failed to catch its target.
"Tch!" Lucien clicked his tongue in frustration, not expecting Arran to have already awakened his Fell Mark.
"Murphy, Therese, follow me! We’ll chase him down. Yve, find a hiding spot and protect these two."
In the next moment, the Ice Magna Prospect began summoning ice in his path as he dashed forward, gracefully skating after the fleeing Fellkin.
Therese and Murphy also used their own unique methods to keep up, disappearing into the horizon just as fast, if not faster, than Arran.
At this rate, they certainly had a chance to catch him.
’Damn, that’s kinda sick...’ Hal praised inwardly.
He wished he had his flashy way of moving faster, too.
