Chapter 114: Day One Live With Seven Wives

After finishing a long shower that took almost an hour and a half because of all the activities inside, Dennis stepped out of his room. He walked toward the kitchen intending to make some food, but his expression shifted and his jaw tightened at the sight of rows of laboratory vials, microscopes, and numerous tubes filled with liquids he didn’t even want to identify, all displayed neatly on his kitchen counter. Dennis sighed, then he opened the fridge and,

"Whoaaah!"

He immediately shouted and jerked back in shock, seeing several glass jars filled with water and monster parts—including that monster heart Deborah had taken back then—lined up inside his fridge, acting as roommates for the groceries.

"For crying out loud... how am I supposed to cook like this? I can’t even order food since I can’t use my smartphone without any communication... this is a disaster," Dennis grumbled in his heart.

Dennis swallowed hard, trying to stop his mind from wandering and bracing himself, then he reached down to grab the chicken and vegetables while ignoring the glass jars near them. He then snagged a water bottle and shut the fridge door. He let out a sigh and took a drink from the bottle, then set his ingredients on the kitchen counter, trying his best to ignore the thick, bubbling yellow and green liquids in the bottles next to him—which were clearly Deborah’s science experiments.

Then he opened the wall-mounted kitchen cabinet to grab the pasta and seasonings he wanted to use for cooking. A variety of aromas immediately wafted out of the cabinet. When he opened it, he covered his nose and saw many plants that seemed to have been mashed into jelly or slime in closed flat containers, yet they gave off scents like lavender, mint, and so on, all mixed together until it finally really stung his nose and became extremely uncomfortable.

Once he had snagged the pasta and the seasonings inside, he immediately slammed the cabinet shut and took a deep breath, then exhaled to clear the smell and breathe again. He looked at the pasta in his hand and "whoaaah," he immediately jumped and let it go. The pack of pasta or spaghetti he’d grabbed turned out to be a package of dried monster innards—intestines or something resembling them—dried out and long, bundled together so they looked just like spaghetti inside a bag.

Naturally, the smell was so overwhelming it sent Dennis straight to the sink to scrub his hands, struggling to keep his stomach down because of the intense nausea.

"This is a disaster... a total disaster... crazy, my blood pressure is going to hit the roof at this rate... calm down, Dennis... stay calm," Dennis muttered in his head, trying to pull himself together.

Once he had calmed down a bit, he looked toward the living room and saw the seven girls sitting there casually, chatting with each other, completely oblivious to their surroundings—especially him, who was currently struggling to make dinner for both himself and them. Dennis slapped both of his cheeks, making Daisy and the others turn to look at him.

"Come on, Dennis... you’ve got to be strong," Dennis said in his head.

He opened his cabinet once more and this time he actually grabbed the correct package of pasta and shut the cabinet door. He let out another sigh, but when he turned back toward the kitchen counter, he was startled to see Daisy, Diana, and Daphne already standing right behind him, while Donna, Dulcia, and Dahlia were perched on his kitchen counter. Deborah was busy picking up the "spaghetti" scattered on the floor and tucking it back into her dimensional box.

"Here, let me do the cooking. You just go sit at the dining table," Daisy said, taking the spaghetti from Dennis’s hand.

"Yeah, you just sit quietly over there, dear," Daphne added, pointing toward the dining table.

"Come on everyone, let’s cook together," Diana said, putting on her apron.

"Okay, I’ll help chop the vegetables," Donna said, raising her hand.

"I’ll provide the moral support since I can’t cook," Dahlia chimed in.

"Leave the chicken to me," Dulcia replied, flexing her arm muscles.

"Um... sorry hon, I’ll clear all this out. Just be patient, okay," Deborah said as she began gathering her equipment and moving it aside to make room for the cooking.

In an instant, the seven of them were busy cooking—except for Dahlia, who was busy scurrying back and forth but doing nothing other than watching what the others were up to. They paid no mind to Dennis even though the kitchen had become incredibly cramped. Watching all of this, Dennis felt a sudden wave of relief and found himself smiling. He finally took off his apron, walked out of the kitchen to give them space, and sat down at the dining table to wait.

Dennis watched his seven wives get busy cooking, debating, asking each other questions, and looking genuinely excited to be working together. Not a single one of them seemed to be complaining or grumbling behind the kitchen counter. He smiled as he watched them, resting his face in his hand on the table without looking away for a second.

"This isn’t so bad; I could live like this," Dennis muttered in his head.

[Let’s just hope the results aren’t disappointing.]

"Please don’t ruin the mood. Just seeing them work together to cook like this already makes me happy," Dennis replied in his head.

[We’ll see about that.]

"Why are you always so pessimistic?" Dennis shot back in his head.

[It’s nothing... it was just a ’hope.’ Of course, I’m praying that everything turns out fine.]

"For some reason, I feel like you aren’t being sincere when you say that, but whatever... are you still mad at me?" Dennis asked.

[A little.]

"Sigh... sorry again, okay? We good?" Dennis replied in his head.

[Fine, I understand. I’m not mad anymore.]

"Sweet. Thanks for forgiving me, Sami," Dennis replied in his head, his mood finally on the upswing.

A few moments later, the food was ready. Since there wasn’t enough room at the dining table, they all ate in the living room, sitting on the floor in a circle with Dennis. While eating, Dennis explained that tomorrow would be the final day Emerald City remained in the heart of darkness and finished its energy recharge. The Hunter exchange had been completed today; a guild envoy had arrived to provide updates and explain the current situation to the school authorities.

"So, for tomorrow’s schedule, we have to stay at the school all day until the city moves away. When the city shifts, a lot of dimensional rifts are bound to open, and we have to be ready for them," Dennis said as he took a bite of his delicious pasta, cooked by his wives.

"Hmm... I see. Well, I’ll be heading in with you tomorrow. What about the rest of you?" Daisy asked, turning to the others.

"I’m going to walk around the city with number six... uh... Dulcia and Deborah," Diana replied.

"Yep, don’t worry, baby, we’re wearing the watches," Dulcia added, showing off the watch on her wrist.

"I’ve made six of those watches today; three are finished and the other three are still in progress," Deborah added.

"Dahlia, Daphne, and I will stay here and look after the house," Donna said casually while eating, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"Leave the house to us," Dahlia added, giving a thumbs-up while chewing her food.

"No need to worry, Dear, Daisy—we’ll just stay put at home," added Daphne, who clearly preferred staying indoors anyway.

"Alright, but please, those of you going out, don’t cause any trouble," Dennis replied.

"Yep, don’t worry, my husband, we promise," Diana answered.

They went back to eating in peace. Once the meal was over, they washed the dishes together, and when they were finished, they all headed into the bedroom to sleep. Dennis, exhausted from the long day, fell into a deep sleep on the bed without delay. Meanwhile, Daisy, Diana, Dahlia, Donna, Deborah, Dulcia, and Daphne sat on the bed, surrounding Dennis and watching him sleep with mysterious eyes.

"Tomorrow, we will strengthen our husband," Diana said.

"True. If we can kill enough monsters, our husband’s level will skyrocket," Deborah replied with a nod.

"Sweet, I can’t wait for tomorrow. I’ll hunt every monster in the city if I have to," Dulcia added excitedly, baring her teeth and flexing her arm muscles.

"Remember, don’t overdo it. We can’t let our husband get suspicious," Daisy warned.

"Of course. Our goal is to make our husband strong enough so we can all become permanent out here, right Sami?" Deborah asked.

[That is correct, Mistress.]

"Please don’t make a mess, okay? I’m also going to sneak out onto the roof to take out any monsters around our apartment from a distance," Dahlia said.

"Yep, but we take turns. Let’s not all three of us head out at once," Donna added, giving a warning.

"Don’t worry, I have absolutely no intention of going outside because I still have a few novels to read using my portable lamp. Thank you for telling us everything, Sami... you really are a good assistant," Daphne said.

"You’re right, Sami. I’m truly grateful to you. I don’t ever want my sisters to have to go back inside my body again. We’re going to stay together with our husband forever, right everyone?" Daisy added, looking at the others.

"Absolutely," the other six replied in unison, keeping their voices low so they wouldn’t wake Dennis.

[You are very welcome, ladies. It is a pleasure to be of service.]

Then the seven of them looked at Dennis’s face once more, wide, crescent-moon smiles decorating all seven of their faces in the darkness, with expressions that said "you are ours and we will never let you go, if anyone approaches you, let’s just assume they never existed in this world hehe."
