He peeked through the cracks in one of the broken ships, expecting to see a glimpse of the man. After all, this game had been going on for the past hour, and the same thing happened again and again. He was getting a little frustrated, but he didn't let that bother him as this was bound to happen.

However, it didn't take long to realize that… something was rather odd about the noises. The boy's face slowly changed when he realized that he wasn't hearing a human being.

'The noises sound like… groans?' He thought to himself. 'Is that even human? What the hell?'

He cranked his neck up, slowly seeing more and more of the scene. Eventually, his eyes caught a glimpse of the thing making that noise, and he was immediately shocked. Instead of the man's silhouette, all he saw was a crouched, disfigured silhouette, arched on the ground as if it was sniffing the ground.

The silhouette was something Arthur simply couldn't describe. It wasn't human-like or beast-like, for that matter. If he had to describe it, it was akin to a disgusting amalgamation of flesh and bones that shaped what should be a living being.

The blob of flesh had more than four limbs, most of them just protruding out of its rotting skin in weird angles. It also had several eyes, noses, and other body parts just sticking out all over its hideous body.

The sight was so disgusting that Arthur almost felt like throwing up. This was one of the ugliest things he had ever laid eyes on.

"What the fuck is that?" He muttered as he held onto the wooden piece to stay silent. 'What is that monster, and why is it here? Wasn't this place supposed to be empty of monsters?'

Due to its empty nature and what he had heard about it, Arthur assumed that the void was simply an empty world where only Yonathan and his people were living. This hideous creature was far from anything he expected to see there.

As he was watching the creature do whatever it was doing, he suddenly realized something eerie. One of the eyes had suddenly started looking at him out of nowhere. Arthur's gaze locked on it, and he immediately felt a chill run down his spine.

'Can it see me?!' He gulped as he made sure not to make a single move. He still didn't know what kind of creature he was dealing with, so running and fighting weren't options until he figured out if this was an enemy.

A second pass it horribly slow and Arthur found himself completely lost. But all that doubt eventually dispersed.

Through his rather uneven breathing, Arthur blinked for a moment. The rather dry nature of the Void's atmosphere made his eyes struggle to remain open for long. However, that simple gesture was more than enough to change everything.

The moment he opened his eyes again, the monster was nowhere to be seen.

'Huh?' Arthur immediately panicked and looked left and right. 'Where the hell did it go?'

All traces of the creature had vanished from the face of the earth, and Arthur found himself alone again. He quickly stood up and looked around him. All the unease in the world fell on his shoulders at that moment. He felt like he was being watched and that the monster was still very close by, but he couldn't pinpoint where it was.

"Nothing… Did it just run away?" Gulping down a mouthful of saliva, Arthur decided to turn around and try to leave the area. He was not feeling comfortable at all just standing there. 'I need to tell Yonathan about thi-'

All thoughts suddenly vanished from Arthur's head. All his plans, ideas, and even his ability to move… all gone. His body was still not even fully tilted, and only his neck moved, however, that was when his eyes locked with one large, disgusting face.

The only sound he could hear at that moment was the saliva and other mysterious liquids dripping from the blob of flesh. Then, he heard a small growl. Eventually, the boy was able to snap out of his shock.

"... *Gulp* H-Hey… I like the color of your eyes." The boy said as he turned around and then tried to move past the creature as if nothing happened.

'Don't look back, don't look back, don't look back, don't look back.' He closed his eyes and prayed. He still didn't know why the monster hadn't attacked him yet, but he didn't even want to think about it. All he wanted to do was to simply leave peacefully and pretend as if nothing happened.

However, he knew deep down that the matter wasn't over there.

"EEEEEER!!!!"

Out of nowhere, the monster screeched loudly, almost making Arthur's eardrums burst. The wood around him started shaking and falling. Quickly, the boy looked back, only to have a glimpse of the hideous creature as it disappeared.

'Shit!!!' Arthur clenched his teeth before he channeled all the mana in his body and dashed away. 'It's angry!!'

His burst of speed was tremendous, launching him far into the distance. This was the first time he had used most of his power, so the speed was shocking. He felt as if he was teleporting through space rather than running.

'I need to get back to Yonathan quickly!'

"EEEEEEEER!!"

"Huh?"

However, before he could even cross some distance, he heard the screech again, this time from a few inches close.

"Wha-"

*BANG*

The next second, Arthur was slammed at full force as he was launched in the air. His body flew several dozen meters before it slammed into a wooden wall and fell.

"Hah… Hah… Hah…" Arthur's eyes widened. He felt his entire body go numb, and all that was left was the sound of his rugged breathing and the horrific pain that came with the hit.

Then, he heard that same screech again from far away, and it snapped him out of his shocked state. Quickly, he stood up and pulled his sword out. His eyes looked left and right, but the monster had already disappeared.

'This movement pattern… Fuck, why is it so familliar?' He cursed. 'It could disappear and appear however it wanted, ignoring all my senses… Don't tell me…'

A possibility popped in Arthur's head, and it almost made his heart stop. He had to suck in a deep breath to put it aside as he grabbed the sword with both hands and activated Frostborn.

"I'm not going to get killed by a blob of flesh!" He yelled.

"EEEEEEER!!!"

The monster appeared out of thin air, flying right toward him. Its arms stretched forward and grabbed Arthur, slamming him into the ground. The boy quickly tried to swing the sword, ice quickly forming across the blade.

But another stretched arm quickly grabbed the blade, eating the whole force of the hit. The ice tried to eat the arm, only for it to fall off the monster's hideous body.

"EEEEER!!"

'What the hell am I even seeing?!!' Arthur wanted to cry at this ridiculous sight. This was perhaps the first time in his life that he didn't even know what he was fighting. This creature was completely incomprehensible. It had no right shape, or an identity for that matter. It was as if it was simply a result of collecting flesh and fusing it together from several other creatures.

Opening one of its several mouths wide, saliva dripped on Arthur's face as he struggled to push the monster away. Its strength was quite shocking for its build as it was able to rival him. The other problem he noticed was that his hands were sinking into the flesh as if he was touching some sort of slimy substance.

'EWW!!!'

"Get off me!!" He yelled.

[Ding!]

[You have activated 'Soul Fear'!]

A wave of energy exploded from Arthur's body as it slammed into the monster. For the first time since the battle started, the monster was startled and jumped back and vanished quickly.

Arthur quickly stood up and wiped the saliva off his face. "Some got into my mouth! *Cough*" He spat out several times before he picked up his sword and looked up.

"You stinky bastard!! I will slice you up!" He cursed. The boy was completely outraged by what he had just experienced. It wasn't simply terrifying, but it was also stomach-churning, something that he didn't need at all.

'As I expected, that thing is definitely using Exo-Burst. I have already seen the others be able to use it, and it is very similar… Almost identical.' He mused.

The movement pattern confirmed that notion for Arthur and made him frown deeply.

'How the hell did that thing learn Exo-Burst? Did Yonathan lose his mind and teach a monster that technique? No, that's definitely not it… But… Tsk, I need to defeat it first.'
