My Wife is a Dead Villainess, and I'm Her Living Weapon-Chapter 19: Lie
Chapter 19: Lie
Although the entire area had turned cold those present were so high on emotion they couldn't feel the chill. Like bloodhounds every single human stared at the five betrayers with enraged eyes. Through the text-to-speech app of a smart phone, the monster spoke for the first time.
And it did not lord over them in pride, nor did it threaten them with its power.
Instead, it asked a simple question. One of ignorance borne out of a monster.
"Why did you betray your own ally?"
Betrayal, already a universally accepted sin was bad enough. Having the betrayed being related to a being of immense strength. Made it so much worse. Everyone knew. If handled badly, it would spell the end.
The black knight before them almost killed them all for merely touching its property. What more if it learned of why its ally was betrayed? In an instant, the entire group weigh what they could lose, including Tessa.
Five students versus the anger of the terrifying monster before them.

Most didn't even know who was the person betrayed. The only thing everyone cared about was that the monster had asked the question.
Tessa dashed forward and appeared in front of Trevor. She then struck him with so much force his body got thrown back.
"TREVOR ROGERS! ANSWER ME! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!"
Elian who saw the extremely violent reaction understood. Considering Tessa was a an Ex-breaker and Trevor was still a jobless that attack was real. She held nothing back. And it wasn't that she was angry.
She did it so that I would back down. She really is Ms. Potts.
If Tessa did not act in rage, Elian might see that she took Trevor's side, leading him to take vengeance on his own. So Tessa walloped her student with her full strength in order to save him.
Because if I moved, not even a corpse would be left.
As Trevor crashed, the crowd descended. Stomps, fists, fury—none of it felt righteous. Just loud. Just cruel. Even the teachers joined in, making the five collapse under justice delivered too late.
"STOP! I'M SORRY! I'LL TALK!"
He screamed, yet none heard him. Venting their frustration, the "Sinners" felt the righteous fury of those present. Nothing they said or did had an effect on the angry mob. Due to the presence of the monster, every punch and kick to the traitors was justice.
The sound of fists gave way to breath. Not because of mercy—but exhaustion. Elian looked at their bruised, broken bodies and felt nothing. No closure. No justice. Just malice.
I wonder how much of that was acting? And how much was genuine payback? They acted like the victims. But I was the one thrown off a ledge.
Without Elian doing a thing, the five were bound, stripped of their underwear and gathered. Like a medieval execution they were paraded and brought before the living weapon. Seeing them all bruised, swollen and shamed gave Elian a disgusted feeling. He didn't feel good. It felt pointless.
I didn't want this. Trevor and his friends might die at this rate, they didn't spare even the girls.
While he felt immense hatred during the moment, their act caused Elian to meet Bianca. If they didn't throw him down, Elian would still be a Defect, and everyone present would have died to the ants. So in a roundabout sort of way, Trevor and his group saved them all.
Tessa then pulled Trevor by his hair and raised him up. Elian's bully couldn't even open his eyes properly from all the swelling. His fingers were all bent in different directions and his skin had every color of the rainbow. It was as if he had spent months in torture.
"Now, you disgusting bastard, explain what you did. It is the only way you survive," the ex-breaker said coldly.
Gasping awkwardly, Trevor gulped before speaking, "We took Elian Reed with us to hunt some ants. When we triggered the alarm, Elian sacrifice himself for us by saying he would draw the ants away. I-I didn't throw him off the ledge, I was trying to stop him. He jumped himself. He is a Hero!"
Elian who heard the made-up story tilted his head. Just as he was about to deny it, the ones with Trevor all began to shout at the same time.
"He's lying! Trevor did it! He has been bullying Elian all this time! Everyone in class knows!"
"This bastard was the one that stabbed poor Elian and threw him off the ledge!"
"She's right! we all tried to stop him, but he said he would kill us if we told anyone!"
"It's all his fault, Trevor killed Elian! He is a murderer!"
"What? No! Everyone, I'm innocent! They are all lying!"
Terrified of what was to come, the five became four versus one. Excluding Elian, it was everyone's words against each other's. And though the boy wanted to rebut them, he lost interest. Guilt, blame—none of it mattered. Not anymore.
They were all guilty, some more than others but it was all the same. But there was one thing that Elian wanted to know, did he even register as human to these people?
Elian took out Trevor's hunting knife and Magic bag. He then threw them at Trevor's feet. He also dropped his torn clothes along with his coin.
"[I was there. You lie. I heard. Tell me, why?]"
The criminals on trial paled. Trevor began to stutter, "W-Wait! It's not like that."
Only at that moment everyone heard the sounds of glass shattering. It was soft like a crackle. But what startled everyone was the times they heard the sound. It was not just by the tens, or by the hundreds, or even by the thousands. But by the hundreds of thousands.
"E-Everyone. Whatever you do, do not move. S-Stay C-Calm.... I-It's going to be o-okay..."
Tessa's trembling voice alerted everyone who failed to notice.
Almost transparent in the darkness. Like the soft shimmer of moonlight on a river, hundreds of thousands of icicles waited in silence.
They didn't fall. They didn't fly—.
They were just—there.
Far too many to count.
Transparent blades, suspended midair like the sky itself had frozen in place.
Each person present had no less than a few hundred surrounding them.
The humans gazed at each other's situation and grew horrified at the thousands of silent blades poised to strike. The entire area appeared like a blizzard froze in time, only instead of harmless snowflakes what resided in the winter wonderland was floating blades made of ice.
Only one word came to everyone's mind.
DEATH.
Every human present suddenly forgot about the monster. They finally understood why such a powerful being had chosen to serve another. If this woman faced the legion of ants, the insects probably wouldn't have been able to retreat.
This woman was far more than just a mere monster.
They were in the presence of a deity.
"Humans. Another moment of this farce—and I will erase you all."
The Icicle spears aimed at Trevor all began to close in like an iron maiden. As did those for everyone present.
"To the backstabbing gutterborn worm who wears friendship like a mask. I will only ask once. And only once. If your answer does not satisfy me. I will not only kill everyone here. I will hunt and slaughter your entire bloodline to the last."
Bianca's words made every soul present flinch. A severe chill made their body shiver uncontrollably. The spears were already so close some students sliced themselves just by turning their heads.
"Why him?" she whispered. "Of all the ones you could've broken... why Elian Reed?"
