My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 78 - 74: Unlocking a Hidden Class
The monsters on the Third Layer were worlds stronger than those on the previous two.
The mobs along the way had so much health they were nearly impossible to damage. The entire party’s formation ended up with Young Lord Shawn and Master Rory charging ahead as tanks, Madam Whitlock providing support right behind them, and the other players hanging far back to spectate, slack off, and do basically nothing. They would, however, occasionally spam the party channel with words of encouragement.
[Barron] Guild Leader, Guild Leader, best DPS! Lord Rory, Lord Rory, wreck his ass! Mr. Whitlock, Mr. Whitlock, heal the whole team...
[Bumblebee] Lord Rory is awesome! Wreck it—
The monsters on the Third Layer were humanoid. Master Rory often got in close, knocking them airborne and comboing them to death, a sight that got everyone’s blood pumping.
The three of them were like an iron triangle of death. Wherever they went, not a single monster was left standing, and they advanced even faster than they had on the second layer.
When it was time to pull the boss, the players who had been in Master Rory’s group all along confidently moved forward. The other groups stayed far away from the battle zone, obediently spectating the masters at work from behind.
Using the same strategy as before, the Third Layer’s boss, the Inferno Ape, went down without a fight and dropped a box—a Golden Box this time.
Master Rory’s luck was so good it was like she was using a cheat; she once again looted two pieces of Rare Red Equipment.
Everyone roared with excitement, her nickname changing from "Lord Rory" to "Lady Luck."
After defeating the third layer’s boss, the party was teleported to a special area. Here, they had two choices: continue on to challenge the final boss for bountiful rewards, or leave.
Zeke Quincy had thought, ’At least half the players will choose to leave. The final boss is extremely difficult, with almost no completely safe zones where one could just stand around and slack off.’
But in the end, no one left the party. They even started spamming the party channel with emotes of someone pulling up a bench to watch the show.
Zeke Quincy silently glanced at Aurora Sinclair, who was cracking her knuckles one by one beside him. For some reason, he suddenly felt a pang of pity for the Flame Queen they were about to face.
[Madam Whitlock] Everyone stand more than 10 yards back and go all out on DPS!
[Barron] Yes, Mr. Whitlock!
[Bumblebee] Yes, Mr. Whitlock!
...
The low-level players in the party had long forgotten how they’d looked down on Madam Whitlock at the beginning. Now they were so eager to please, they were practically licking the screen.
’Did these guys major in Sichuan opera face-changing or something?’
Zeke Quincy quietly sent Madam Whitlock a private message:
[Young Lord Shawn] If we let them attack, won’t they just hold us back?
[Madam Whitlock] Are you just going to tire out Aurora by herself?
[Young Lord Shawn] ...
’Fine! I’m a terrible person!’

After the fight began—
Master Rory zipped around, fighting the Flame Queen. The sight of red and black clashing had a strange, violent beauty to it.
Everyone suddenly felt that this Flame Queen was a bit weak. She was being so thoroughly beaten by Master Rory that she couldn’t even use a single Skill. And she was supposed to be an intelligent NPC!
The difficulty of fighting her was said to be on par with a PvP match against another player in the arena.
She had once been the nightmare of Level 30 players. The only ones who could defeat her were typically players 20 levels higher. It was rare for anyone to challenge her at Level 30, let alone dominate her so completely that she couldn’t even fight back.
Suddenly, a mature, commanding female voice sounded from the game’s system audio.
"Heroine, this queen concedes. I beg your mercy!"
After a moment of silence, the party channel erupted with baffled comments.
"What the hell?! What was that?"
"The NPC... surrendered? I didn’t mishear that, did I?"
"But she’s the Queen!"
"I think we need to start worshipping Lord Rory!"
Zeke Quincy was also stunned. When he and his team had fought the Flame Queen, there hadn’t been any surrender phase. ’Could Aurora Sinclair have triggered some kind of hidden quest?’
Just then, a system message popped up:
[System] Congratulations to Master Rory for achieving a 500-hit combo and triggering the hidden storyline: [The Flame Queen’s Legacy]
"Oh my god, we’re so lucky!"
"A 500-hit combo? Lord Rory, are you a pro-team god?"
"Please accept my knees!"
"Lord Rory, what’s your APM?"
The party channel was filled with all sorts of shouts and screams. Zeke Quincy muted everyone’s mics, then turned to look at Aurora Sinclair’s monitor while calling the others over.
"Hurry, Aurora triggered the hidden storyline."
All the boys in the room ran over to watch. Even Jean Quincy took off her headphones and leaned over to see.
On the computer screen, the Flame Queen was chattering away at Master Rory.
The gist of it was that her entire clan had died in a great war thousands of years ago, and she was the only one left, guarding this place and waiting for a destined successor to inherit her clan’s Cultivation Technique.
After a whole bunch of story dialogue, a window popped up from the system.
[Do you wish to accept the Flame Queen’s legacy?]
Zeke Quincy immediately urged her, "Aurora, accept it, quick!"
He was even more excited than she was.
Aurora Sinclair clicked accept, and several windows popped up in succession.
[Congratulations to Master Rory for receiving the Flame Queen’s legacy: Fiery Flame Fist Technique.]
[Congratulations to Master Rory for obtaining the Flame Gloves (Epic), part of the Flame Set.]
[Congratulations to Master Rory for successfully unlocking the assassin’s hidden class—Boxer.]
"Holy crap, Boxer? Is that a new class?"
Everyone was lost in a state of bewildered confusion.
Immediately after, all players on the Valoria Veridia server received a system notification:
[Attention all players! Due to a player triggering a hidden class, the Valoria Veridia server will be entering a 3-day maintenance period. The server will automatically shut down in 10 minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience! —The Valoria Team]
The boys silently looked over at Aurora Sinclair, their expressions complicated.
A system window began a shutdown countdown, and at the same time, everyone in the dungeon was forcibly teleported out.
[Barron] Wut happened? Why’re they shuttin’ down the server?
[Bumblebee] Ah! I got a piece of Rare Red Equipment as a reward.
[Maple Loves Oak] I got a piece of Rare Red Equipment too!
...
The party channel was flooded with messages from members who had received rewards. While everyone was gloating over their Rare Red Equipment, Zeke Quincy silently stared at the Epic orange weapon in Aurora Sinclair’s inventory and swallowed, envious.
Taking advantage of the ten minutes, Zeke Quincy hurried back to his seat, invited Madam Whitlock to the guild, and gave her the rank of Guild Elite.
In the guild channel, the low-level players were endlessly worshipping Master Rory and Madam Whitlock as gaming gods. Someone even recorded short video clips of their gameplay from the dungeon and uploaded them to the guild chat.
[Barron: I gotta say! Mr. Whitlock and Lord Rory’s skills are absolutely god-tier. They aren’t the alts of our server’s number one healer and number one assassin, are they?]
[Mr. Mason: Master Rory isn’t. Not sure about Madam Whitlock, hang on, I’ll ask.]
[Bumblebee: ??? Mr. Mason, you know Lord Rory? (starry eyes)]
[Mr. Mason: Of course! She’s sitting right across from me. (smirk)]
[Bumblebee: She? Lord Rory is a girl? Post a pic!!!]
[Mr. Mason: No way, the Guild Leader would kill me.]
[Bumblebee: What do you mean? Is she the Guild Leader’s girlfriend?]
After Bumblebee asked that question, the entire chat group exploded. Lurkers came out of the woodwork to ask about their relationship.
Zeke Quincy shot a glare at Mason Sutton across from him and explained in the chat:
[Young Lord Shawn: Don’t guess wildly. Master Rory is my relative, and Madam Whitlock is her friend.]
[Barron: (pokes fingers together) May I ask what kind of friend? A male friend or a female friend?]
[Young Lord Shawn: What do you think? A girl, of course.]
[Maple Loves Oak: Oh my god, are all girls this ridiculously good? Please accept my knees!]
[Bumblebee: I thought Mr. Whitlock was a guy. Turns out he’s a she! Her skills are just 666...]
[Mr. Newman: After watching the videos, I think these two girls’ skills are definitely at a pro player level.]
[Barron: Of course! Their skills are number one on the server, no arguments!]
...
All the low-level players from the dungeon run chimed in with their agreement, which made some of the guild’s veteran players a little uncomfortable. After all, they were just two newbies who had just joined. How skilled could they possibly be?
Besides, it was only a Level 30 dungeon, not that high in difficulty. If they brought their own alts in, they could achieve the same results.
’A bunch of ignorant newbies!’
[Godslayer: Number one on the server? Get to Level 80 first, then we’ll talk!]
[Gourd Lord: I saw the video. Their skill is a bit higher than the average player’s, but they’re still a ways off from pro-level. @Lorraine Isn’t your cousin on a pro team?]
Only then did the newbies remember Lorraine, the guild’s number one healer, whom everyone had forgotten about.
Lorraine Morrison had been reading the chat for a while now, her expression a little sour. Seeing someone mention her, she immediately typed out a line.
[Lorraine: Their technique is okay, but Mysterious Wind Snow from PL has a peak APM of over 600 and can manage the health of 10 team members at once.]
Everyone took another look at the video clips. The most people Madam Whitlock had managed to heal at once was six.
[Autumn: Pfft, a pro is a pro. Not just any random player can become one.]
The chat instantly went quiet. The low-level players from the dungeon run stopped talking back.
After a moment, Barron posted another video.
[Barron: Then she’s at a pro level.]
