My Wife is My Life!-Chapter 302
Despite spending two days in the hospital, Lu Lixing’s high fever actually started to decline the day after he was hospitalized. Lu Lixing stayed another night, nevertheless, because he had come to believe that the wound on his palm was infected and had to be observed further.
On the third day, under Ji Qingqing’s strong suspicion that he was getting better, Lu Lixing decided to be discharged from the hospital.
The atmosphere was pleasant during their trip to the villa, with clear skies and camphor trees on the side of the road emitting a fragrant scent.
After a week of being away from home, the whole villa was empty. Now as soon as the car rolled into the front yard of the villa, Aunt Pei welcomed them while the others brought Lu Lixing and Ji Qingqing’s suitcase back to their room.
Grandpa Lu asked what happened after he saw the wound on Lu Lixing’s hand. As if nothing happened, Lu Lixing simply said that he was cut by a reef when he went swimming in the sea.
Ji Qingqing, on the other hand, remained silent and kept her head down. After all, it was because of her that he got injured.
In response, Grandpa Lu didn’t delve into the matter any further and just moved on to something else.
Grandpa Lu said, “Lu Liting is back.”
Lu Liting hasn’t been home all year round. Unexpectedly, he came back this time.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Lu Liting came down the stairs. Ji Qingqing was astonished upon seeing his appearance at that moment.
Ever since Ji Qingqing transmigrated, the Lu Liting in her memory always showed a stinky face toward her and suspected that she had an ulterior motive, which greatly annoyed her.
Now, he looked unhinged and sickly. His head was wrapped in gauze and the bruises on his face were clearly visible. His body looked thinner, exuding an air of decadence. Not an ounce of vigor and vitality can be seen from his previous haughty self.
Did the breakup with Shen Weiwei hit him so hard?
Ji Qingqing pondered to herself. “It really seems like Lu Liting’s love for Shen Weiwei went quite deep.”
Lu Liting gazed at her for a brief moment, then swiftly looked away. After that, he turned to face Lu Lixing and greeted in a low voice, “Big brother.”
Lu Lixing’s brows slightly wrinkled as he saw his brother’s current appearance. He asked, “What’s going on here?”
Grandpa Lu responded while glaring at Lu Liting, “He said he was in a fight with someone. Since I’m old, my body and spirit aren’t as good as before, so I can’t control him all that much. Lixing, you talk to him instead.
Lu Lixing nodded and said, “Okay.” He then looked at Lu Liting and said, “Come upstairs with me.”
Lu Liting’s eyelids drooped slightly. Not looking at anyone’s eyes, he silently followed Lu Lixing upstairs to the study.
It wasn’t until the backs of the two disappeared up the stairs that Ji Qingqing regained her senses. Sitting next to Grandpa Lu, she asked in a whisper, “Grandpa, what’s going on?”
Grandpa Lu sighed, hating iron for not becoming steel. “He refused to say anything and was just as obstinate as he was when he was a child! But don’t worry about him—as long as I’m here, he won’t dare to do anything presumptuous.”
Ji Qingqing smiled and did not speak any further.
Grandpa Lu obviously didn’t want to talk more on this matter, so he changed the subject and jokingly asked, “Come, tell Grandpa, how did you spend time with Lixing in the past few days? Was it good?”
Aunt Pei spoke from the side. “It must have been a joyful experience since the young lady’s face never stopped smiling.”
Ji Qingqing dazedly looked at Aunt Pei.
Aunt Pei smiled mysteriously. “During the few days you and the young master were on the show, Grandpa Lu and I watched every episode the two of you were in.”
“Watched?” Ji Qingqing exclaimed.
In other words, did Grandpa Lu see every moment she and Lu Lixing shared on screen?
Although she knew that the show was filmed through live broadcasting so anyone could see it, she never really thought that the broadcast would be watched by Grandpa Lu and Aunt Pei.
As soon as she thought of the cheesy words she had said in the program as well as Lu Lixing’s flirtatious remarks, Ji Qingqing blushed to the tips of her ears, embarrassed to death.
Aunt Pei said, “Old man, you always worry that the young master can’t take good care of the young lady. You can now rest assured, right? Don’t look at the young master who doesn’t talk much on the surface. In fact, he’s very caring and meticulous. The couple has their own way of getting along with each other, so don’t worry about them.”
Mr. Lu smiled and nodded his head. “I feel rest assured. At first, I thought, why did that kid, Lu Lixing, suddenly call me to confirm the wedding date? It turns out that kid was premeditating something*. I heard that Lixing also bought a ring to propose to you?”
*T/N: had something in mind/planning something
Ji Qingqing nodded stiffly.
Aunt Pei exclaimed, “And you always say that the young master can never learn from your romantic nature. Well, I think the young master has even surpassed you!”
Grandpa Lu disagreed. “What do you mean he had surpassed me? Do you think he’s more skilled in romance than me? Back in the day, his grandmother was so coaxed by me that she couldn’t bear to be separated from me!”
Ji Qingqing felt a wave of heat rush straight to her brain. Grandpa Lu’s words seemed as if he meant to imply something else.
Ji Qingqing could hardly stand it. It really seemed like she couldn’t be around them any longer. Ji Qingqing abruptly got up and said, “Grandpa, Aunt Pei, I… my things in that suitcase aren’t unpacked yet. I’ll head upstairs and unpack my things first, and then I’ll come down later to chat with you.”
After saying that, without waiting for Grandpa Lu to speak, she hurriedly went upstairs.
Awkward… That was really too awkward.
Ji Qingqing covered her red and hot face. She couldn’t imagine how to face Grandpa Lu and Aunt Pei afterward. After all, who would know? On the surface, she and Lu Lixing appeared to respect each other like guests, but behind the scenes, she coyly kept shouting husband non-stop.
She sighed and thought, Life is hard.
