Myriad Devils-Chapter 259: The one who whispers
The figure before him radiated an indescribable luminescence; it was an ethereal beauty that seemed to transcend the physical realm.
They were adorned with flowing robes that shimmered in a kaleidoscope of pastel colors, reflecting and refracting light like a prism.
They had delicate wings, grand and majestic, crafted from a translucent substance that glistened with intricate patterns, reminiscent of delicate lace.
Their face, serene, was framed by long, flowing hair that cascaded like liquid light, enhancing the grace and divinity enveloping them.
They were...
"We are the Overlord of the Elven folk."
’She is magnificent.’ His eyes were radiant, divine, magnificent.
The celestial authority radiating from these eyes desperately sought to transcend the otherworldly air of the Elven Overlord.
His divine nature desired her, causing his hand to grip the delicate hand of Tenebris, tighter.
"Humanity’s Young Lord, the Destined One, is honored by your grace." Anon tried to appear humble; however, the Elven Overlord had destabilized his celestial psyche.
He didn’t even let go of the Ghost Autarch’s hand, and his words, along with his bow, were anything but humble.
A strangeness washed over Elandriel’s heart when perceiving Anon’s arrogance before his Ruler, but this was not a place where he held sway, and his authority was minuscule if not insignificant.
She was understanding of many things, so she smiled knowingly, not visibly affected in any way by his daringness.
The very nature of this Lord was beyond Anon’s conceptual existence.
For him, she appeared in a form that he could understand.
This was very similar to Tenebris, rather than Tenebrisculis, which was a form Anon was inherently fearful of.
Firstly, she glanced at the Fourth Ghost Autarch.
Decipherable, but still unbeknownst to Anon, this was the very first event of its kind.
Before now, there was no time when an Overlord had lessened its own existential superiority over a lesser dimensional creature.
And for the Elves...
Before now, with the exception of the Human Lord, no Overlord was previously allowed to appear before the world tree.
This was an exception that showed the Elven Overlord’s favor toward Anon.
Verily, this was unprecedented; however, due to the inherent nature of the Ghost Autarch themselves, this could be overlooked.
Her eyes flickered with unknown lights, representing her own unknown thoughts, before she then proclaimed, "My Elven folk, though mortal and pure, unaware of magic and cultivation, possessed lifespans far greater than all of humankind, and this hath been so since before the great cataclysm."
"Yet I knoweth that this was true for thee as well, though thou mayest not have known." In saying this, her voice was more than pleasant.
Listening to the voice of the Elven Overlord was a soul-soothing experience.
"My Elven folk, though ensnared in mortality and ignorance, bereft of the aura of otherworldliness from their very essence, still possessed greater inward and outward beauty and grace than any other race of humankind." She said.
"Yet, I knoweth this to be true for thee as well, though thou mayest not have realized it."
A strange look appeared across Anon’s face.
Though an Overlord’s compliment was endearing, more than one person would like to return from death to counter that statement.
Certainly, it was definitely not true that he was as beautiful on the inside as he was on the outside, right?
"I know what thou art not aware of. Verily, thy inner self is pure, and in purity, there is beauty." The Elven Overlord actualized a gratifying smile across her face.
He dazedly stared at the Overlord, and then doubtfully tilted his head. Soon after, he thought of something and nodded his head in understanding.
As a mortal, he was indeed very pure... too pure.
He did not go out of his way to do good, nor evil.
At the time, he was in search of knowledge.
Seeing through the young lord, the eyes of the Elven Overlord lit up.
She continued, "I have lived through the age of peace and endured the age of calamity. I have achieved success in the age of chaos, and in this age, I seek to lead my Elven folk to magnificent triumph."
Inwardly, Anon shook his head.
By briefly introducing the race, praising the race, praising him, and then proclaiming her goals for the race, did she now expect these goals to be his own?
Hehe...
He, Anon Xerxes, the young lord, was not a sentient lifeform with an emotionless soul.
Seeing as he would become the overarching ruler of the Elven race, he would indeed, ’take care’ of the race.
Mixing truth and lies, his surface thoughts obscured his true intentions.
These intentions were not built up, but inherent, so he did not even need to think his way to them; instead, they sprouted from the very conception.
"I do wonder," he suddenly voiced, glancing at the infinite plane and the solitary world tree, "When will I be brought before the one who is to be mine?"
Just after speaking out his intentions...
"Thou mayest depart," she whispered.
The Elven Overlord bowed toward the World Tree, or more so at the entity sitting under the shade of the World Tree.
This was the one who whispered.
This was but an entity that exuded the aura of a Dimension Lord.
This was an aura that was much more complex than Elandriel, but it was the aura of a Dimension Lord nonetheless.
Was the Elven Overlord not an Overlord?
Elandriel followed behind the Elven Overlord, respectfully.
He rarely met the Overlord, but to be in the presence of the Overlord, the Venerable Saintess, the Fourth Ghost Autarch, and the son of the Human Lord, all at the same time...
This was something his peers would not easily believe.
The moment they left...
"The race, Astral Void."
She sat beneath the shade, near the trunk.
"And the Ghost Autarch. The Wandering. The Looming. The Veiled."
The tree was of average size, only ever slipping out of the bounds of one’s vision when one looked up.
And only ever beyond the bounds of one’s imagination when one investigated its true height.
The girl who sat on her legs was also of the average size of Elves, and Elves shared many similarities with Earthlings.
"The Tenebrisculis."
"Thou hast named thyself thus."
"Unique and alienated from the race of Astral Void."
"Curious art thou about the one who is unique and alienated from creation; yet, thou wilt not come to understand him, even were thou given eternity to comprehend."
