Kaiden was such a showoff!

In just a short while, well it wasn’t that really short. Five good minutes of Vanessa spending time with him, had made her find out that she was nothing but a ceremonial achievement for the brazen fellow, who thinks that she’s going to concede to whatever plan his parents were having with her parents.

Just like she had expected. The shower of affection outside, when she arrived was nothing but him trying to get in the media’s eyes as such a perfect gentleman. There was no need for Vanessa to ask what road their path would lead to. In the next few days, the internet is going to get frenzy about her and Kaiden’s relationship.

This was what they wanted. They.. were her parents, Kaidens parents and of course Kaiden himself. He kept a firm hold on her waist as they approached his parents, and it was useless showing that she was uncomfortable with what he was doing. The motherfucker had actually threatened her before they walked inside the hall, where the birthday was being organized.

It was her fault for walking with him to the garden, while Miguel kept his distance along with Kaiden’s guards, so that they could give him the much needed privacy he wanted with her.

Their conversation didn’t last long for ten minutes, the idiot was already trying to seduce his way into her legs. It’s such a shame that he was using parents to do his bidding just so he could ruin her life.

But at this point of time, Vanessa knew that she’s going to run away. She wouldn’t sit and watch her parents sign off her life into the hands of a manwhore like him. So that’s what it is, she’s going to leave just like her brother did.

"If you behave nicely, I promise you wouldn’t find the head of your bodyguard wrapped in a gift once you are back home." Kaiden whispered to her, his face was close enough that one would think that he was about to kiss her.

The looks they were getting were getting her irritated, the other ladies who were present tonight were doing what they do best. Throwing hateful glares her way, while once Kaiden made the mistake of turning over, they sent him their flirty smiles to which he reciprocated their actions back.

Her heart skipped at the threat of him killing Miguel, she turned to look at Miguel instantly who’s eyes shot back at hers. He didn’t need anyone to tell him that something was wrong with Vanessa, so he made his way over to them.

"Is something wrong?" Miguel asked immediately, he kept his gaze on Vanessa. That’s who he wanted to hear her reply to, and not the saucy prince that had been looking at him strangely since they arrived. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"She’s fine, I could say she’s still not used to this sort of thing. But she would be fine right, sweetheart?" Kaiden spoke up for Vanessa, who was finding it difficult to choose her words. But Miguel has been one insightful fellow who knew that she’s not her normal self.

"I didn’t ask you." Miguel replied harshly, that at this point Kaiden knew that there was no use trying to play the good guy here, since Miguel was being nothing but a douchebag.

"You would watch the way you talk to me, if you want to live, mate." Kaiden might have said that out loud, because his guards turned instantly, carefully taking out their gun, and it was made obvious to everyone that something was going on from where Kaiden, Vanessa and Miguel stood.

"That’s enough, Kaiden." Vanessa finally spoke up, as she looked up at Miguel, assuring him that everything was okay but damn! Did he look really hot talking back to Kaiden?

Vanessa, you have gone crazy.

She thought to herself, and in due time was brought back to reality by the voice of Kaidens parents at their back.

"Is everything okay?" Lincoln Smith, the President of Country A asked, as standing besides him while holding his hands, was his wife, Melody.

"Everything is fine, dad." Kaiden said, before taking Vanessa’s right hand into his under Miguel’s watch. " I would like to introduce you both to someone special. This is Vanessa Ivanov."

A gasp escaped Melody’s lips when Vanessa turned to look at his parents. Kaiden was the splitting image of his dad, who had a bothered expression on his face, after taking a second look at Kaiden.

"Oh my god! Kaiden, you should have told me that she had arrived." Melody said, her eyes narrowing at her son in a dismissive way to show her slightly angry, she was for not telling her that Vanessa had arrived.

She looked away from him towards the lady in front of her,"You look way more pretty than in the papers. Come here." Melody said, pulling her in for a hug as Vanessa smiled that there was at least someone normal in his family.

His mother was cool and friendly, and it made her more comfortable being with her than her stupid son. But anyway, she wouldn’t tell her that her son was stupid.

"Thank you, you don’t look bad either." Vanessa added," I love your hair."

"Oh! Please, people do tell me that I’m getting quite old." Melody said, earning a sigh from both father and son as if they knew that this was what she was going to say.

"It’s nice to finally meet you, Mr. President." Vanessa said, before bowing in respect to the scary looking man, who hadn’t said anything but kept looking at her head, until she figured out that his gaze was not on her, but on Miguel who was at her back.

"He’s nobody important." Kaiden seethed, making his father know that he had a score to settle with the man who was standing at Vanessa’s back.

Meanwhile, Vanessa was quick to understand what was going on. Kaiden wasn’t lying when he said that he’s going to send back Miguel’s head as a gift, but that’s definitely not on her watch.

"He’s my personal guard, sir. Is there any problem?" Vanessa answered on behalf of Miguel who didn’t look scared one bit, that they were in a dangerous territory.

The party hasn’t even started yet, and he already has an enemy. Yet, he didn’t look fascinated by that, if anything it was the president who was surprised that he didn’t bulge one bit even when he was staring directly into his eyes.

That made Vanessa wonder what exactly made him this way. Fearless. It made her wonder what sort of life he lived in the past to make him this numb.
