Chapter 53: Accompany

Luke bought all the necessary items from the system shop and prepared himself.

He could have purchased a potion as well, but the one required to heal this wound cost two hundred Gamma points. Because of that, he chose the option that required more manual effort.

He filled a spraying bottle, which was nothing more than a plastic bottle with a small hole in its cap, and told Lex, "Bite onto something. This will burn."

Lex looked down at Luke, but before he could say anything, Dalia stepped forward and extended a thick piece of fabric she had brought from the room.

"Here, bite this."

Lex glanced at his mate for a moment before nodding and parting his lips.

He clenched the fabric between his teeth, and only then did Luke begin.

SQUEEZE

Pressing the bottle, Luke sprayed the saline water directly onto the wound, focusing especially on the small holes puncturing the skin.

"Guh... mmmfh..." Lex trembled in the chair. His entire body shifted and his toes curled, but he neither cried out nor pulled his leg away.

Luke cleaned the wound thoroughly, using three full bottles of saline water before finally stopping. By then he realized the wound was no longer actively bleeding, thanks to the tight wrapping of fabric they had applied earlier in panic.

"Alright then."

He took out the antiseptic liquid and soaked a thick piece of cotton with it.

Laila watched in confusion at the strange boxes Luke was using. She had no idea where he had gotten them from. Still, no one questioned him at the moment.

"This will hurt too," Luke warned before beginning to clean the wound.

The numbness caused by the saline water kept Lex from groaning when the antiseptic touched the injury.

Several cotton pads were used, and each one turned deep red by the time Luke was done.

Afterward, Luke washed his hands with the clean water his mother had brought just in case.

Then he began unfolding the bandages. Pressing his knee against Lex’s toes to keep the leg stable, he carefully wrapped the bandage around the wound.

Everyone watched in quiet awe at how calmly and neatly Luke worked.

They had only ever seen medics use herbal pastes to treat wounds like this. What Luke was doing looked entirely different, and somehow far more reassuring.

Once he finished, Luke stood up and picked up the syringes.

"Alright. Remove your vest."

Lex frowned, especially when he noticed the sharp tool in Luke’s hand.

Gustav was the one who asked, "What’s that, son?"

Luke replied briefly, "It will suppress his pain."

Then he looked at Lex and said, "Are you removing it, or should I let you wither in pain?"

Lex glared at him, but his hands were already pulling off his top.

As his bare torso was revealed, Luke filled the three syringes and injected them one after another into Lex’s arm.

Lex hissed softly with each puncture, but the pain was still bearable.

Once he was done, Luke threw all the used items into a basket and told the patient, "Don’t move your leg, or your bone won’t heal properly. You will feel sluggish for the rest of the day, and it will take about ten days for you to fully recover."

Luke knew the healing ability of people in this world was far better than in his previous life. So ten days would be enough for Lex to get back on his feet.

However, Lex’s expression made it clear he was already planning to ignore the advice.

"I can’t rest for ten days. I need to bring Dalia to her home village."

Monica blinked in surprise. "Hmm? But why?"

Dalia sighed. "I received a message from my village chief. My mother is very sick. We were supposed to leave for my hometown today... but..."

Lex gently held Dalia’s hand and told her, "I can manage, trust me. We’ll hire a horse so I won’t need to walk much."

Dalia immediately shook her head. "No, Lex. You can’t move around in this condition. I won’t risk your health for anything."

Luke wondered whether he should keep standing there, watching the two lovebirds argue, or just return to his room and get some more sleep.

Just then—

[Quest: Accompany Dalia to her hometown.]

[Reward: 100G]

Damn... aren’t you being a little too generous, System? Luke thought inwardly.

Naturally, there was no response.

Luke crossed his arms and asked, "How far is this place, exactly?"

Gustav raised his brows in confusion but answered anyway. "On a horse, not even half a day. It’s just our neighboring village."

Luke nodded and said, "I’ll take her there."

Monica froze, while Caleb hummed in shock. "You’re going to step outside the village boundary?"

Luke chuckled. "You say it like people are waiting out there just to hunt me down."

In truth, he had been itching to see the outside world. Using this opportunity, he could finally explore a little.

Monica was, naturally, a little worried for her son. She kept glancing at him with concern.

Dalia looked uncertain as she turned toward her mate.

Lex leaned back in his seat and thought for a moment.

Despite what he had said earlier, the truth was that he was barely clinging to consciousness. The pain had dulled slightly, but he knew his body needed proper rest. At the same time, Dalia’s mother’s condition was serious, and she needed to reach her soon.

In the end, he lowered his head toward this bastard once again.

"Please... bring her to her homeland."

Luke liked it. The humility this man showed whenever it involved his mate.

He shrugged and said, "Just remember all these debts. You will have to repay them to me one day."

Lex didn’t respond.

Without a doubt, he was already planning to earn enough in the future so that this man would never again be able to remind him of these favors.

Luke turned to his sister-in-law and said, "I’m going to hire a horse. Get ready."

The blue-haired woman slowly nodded.

Ever since what he said yesterday, she had been avoiding his gaze. And now, the same man was about to spend time alone with her.

For some reason, the thought of this journey made her feel strangely nervous.
