New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 192: TRAPPED MILLIE
Chapter 192: TRAPPED MILLIE
Aristia could see the light ball in the midst of darkness, but her eyes were still closed.
It seemed what was happening now was in her subconscious mind. It was a bit like it was her imagination, but not quite.
She could tell that it wasn’t just her imagination; the light ball was really there. It was a somewhat strange sensation. She could see the ball with her eyes ’open’ but her eyes weren’t really open.
It was like she was back in that space where she had appeared before Millie was formed.
And she was right to think so because the surroundings were also dark, just like that place.
The light ball was not moving, just bouncing lightly in the air. Aristia even thought that its bouncing was anticipating; somewhat eager.
Without much thought, she stretched out her hand and touched the light ball, and just like before, the same thing happened; light spread out abruptly from the ball and illuminated the room.
She opened her eyes, but she was no longer in her room. The dark, empty space was nowhere in sight. Instead, she found herself in a white space. Millie wasn’t with her either and neither was the ball of light.
Aristia furrowed her brows and stood up from the ground.
Suddenly, the hairs on the back of her neck rose and her pupils contracted.
[What’s that?!]
She quickly turned around to look behind her. A gasp escaped her lips and her mouth hung open. A second later, the stuck words escaped. "What the hell is that?!"
In front of her eyes, Aristia could see thick giant chains. They were enormous and wrapped in a criss cross around each other, overlapping.
They emitted an ominous faint purple glow. The sight of them looked very intimidating and felt ominous.
"What da fuk?!"
Aristia stepped back subconsciously. The next second, her eyes narrowed.
She could see something fluffy deep inside the enormous chains.
"Is that... Millie?"
The beast inside the chains didn’t look like Millie. She still possessed light gray fur and piercing purple eyes. Most of all, she was immensely beautiful.
But her appearance wasn’t sweet and adorable like Millie. Hers was a striking gorgeousness filled with elegance.
Her slender and magnificent form was suspended in the air. Her tail curled down to the tip of the chain. She looked similar to a nine tailed fox, but Aristia couldn’t tell what kind of beast she was.
She looked uncomfortable and even pained, but despite that, her eyes gave off an immense pressure and was spine chilling.
Millie never gave off such an oppressive feeling.
[Is this... Millie’s full potential?]
Millie stared straight at Aristia, eyes bursting with emotions Aristia couldn’t quite place. It was like she was familiar and equally unfamiliar.
But something else caught her attention.
Aristia noticed that there were wisps of transparent thin threads between her and Millie.
[Is this the connection between us?]
She took her eyes off the threads.
When she looked away from the threads and around her, she didn’t see any doors. It was like she had entered a room with no doors or windows.
No. It wasn’t a room. She could only see white. It seemed to stretch on and on, but it also looked like walls, as if she was inside a white box.
Obviously there was no way to leave the place even if she kept walking, and she wasn’t sure if she could keep walking or if she would walk into a wall.
She looked back at the chains. Just looking at them made her uneasy.
Since it was like this to herself who was an onlooker in a way, then how would it be for Millie?
[No. I can’t leave it like this.] She made a decision.
"I have to free Millie."
She felt uncomfortable seeing Millie in chains and looking like she was in pain. Millie was trapped.
But...
"How do I break these chains?" She muttered.
The problem persisted.
She hadn’t really thought about it when she was trying to feel the spiritual connection. The plan was to figure out something once she had succeeded in feeling the connection.
So technically, there was no plan.
Aristia stepped forward, a sigh slipping out of her lips. She went towards the imposing chains towering above her.
The closer she went, the more pressure she felt and the greater the oppressive feeling. All the hairs on her body stood on end.
If not for her courage and willpower, she probably wouldn’t dare to approach the chains, not to talk of what she was planning to do now.
As soon as she was an arms length away from the chains, she extended her hands to touch the chains.
However, as soon as her hand made contact with one of the chains, a wave of shock passed through her hand.
"Gasp!" She quickly retracted her hand. "So touching the chains won’t work..." She cradled her hand, glaring resentfully at the stupid chains.
She stretched her hand out again stubbornly towards the chains but a strong force suddenly pushed her backwards.
Aristia was caught off guard. She didn’t even have the chance to prepare herself, not that she could, the force was too strong.
But before she could become flat against the wall or possibly keep falling backwards towards the possibly endless white space behind her, she fell backwards on... grass.
"Ugh..."
Aristia groaned.
She rubbed her head from where she lay on the ground, feeling slightly confused and disoriented. Thankfully, the impact with the ground wasn’t much.
She blinked. She wasn’t looking at whiteness above her, instead she could see a blue sky and sparse white clouds. Her hand clenched the grass in her hand and when she pulled it off the ground and held it in front of her eyes, she saw the slightly dewy green grass.
Slowly, she sat up and looked around her. Green stretched for miles in front of her and the sky was bright and sunny but not hot. It was the kind that gave off a soothing warmth and made one dream of fairytales.
"Finally, some colour." She huffed in relief. It was really strange to only see white around her.
Only...
"Where’s Millie?" She stood up quickly, looking around her. Neither Millie nor the chains were in sight.
But she realized that she was standing on a hill. She looked around her at the rolling hills all around her. She seemed to be standing on the tallest hill.
Somewhere deep down, she felt like the place was familiar, like she had been here before.
She didn’t dwell on the feeling. It was probably because she was in a spiritual space filled with her spiritual energy, of course it would feel familiar.
The sight around her was so beautiful and serene that Aristia even spent a few minutes admiring the scene. Occasionally, a gentle breeze would blow and cause her hair to sway. The surroundings were mostly quiet.
[This place is perfect.] Aristia thought. It gave off a serene, peaceful feeling. A soft smile appeared on her face. [My spiritual world is really this peaceful? It’s beautiful.]
But the next second, her smile faded.
"Wait a sec... Am I supposed to climb down this hill?" Her mouth hung open. The only thing that answered her was the gentle rustling of grass and leaves and a distant tweet of birds.
"Millie, I’m doing this for you." She grumbled. "You should know that you have a very amazing person as your human."
She slowly walked down the hill, grumbling all the way. "This could take a whole day." She scoffed in disbelief. She was exaggerating. It would probably take only a a few minutes to descend the hill.
About an hour later, she had climbed down the hill.
Aristia stared in front of her. She was now standing in front of a meadow.
[What kind of spiritual world do I have? Or do I secretly like making things hard for myself which is why my spiritual world is like this, making things difficult for me too." She was a bit skeptical.
She couldn’t unknowingly be a sadist, right?
She sighed and slowly walked through the meadow.
The meadow was undoubtedly beautiful. It had tall, beautiful flowers that emitted lovely scents.
Aristia couldn’t resist spreading her arms and caressing the petals of the beautiful flowers.
Maybe it was just her imagination, but the flowers beneath her hands seemed to lean into her palms, their soft petals gently tickling her fingers. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Somewhere in the back of her mind, a thought budded.
[Anyway, what kind of flowers are these? I’ve never seen them before.] Aristia wasn’t familiar with any of the beautiful flowers she saw.
The wind blew steadily, and Aristia didn’t know if it was her imagination that the flowers swayed with the wind, looking as if they were dancing.
Finally, she stood at the end of the meadow.
At the end of the meadow was a cave.
