Chapter 172: Grand Enchantment

A thunderous roar echoed throughout the dark space

Wild energy surged in it’s wake cracking the invading plains from the Void World.

The space around them strained, stress fractures forming from the overlapping of the two spaces.

Morgan turned in the direction of Azaroth, silently scrutinizing the giant.

With the appearance of the stars, several changes began to occur.

The space around Morgan began to relax and compress in on itself.

The very air around him trembled, small sparks of electricity forming and detonating spontaneously.

Then space sundered.

Two dark rifts simultaneously burst into existence on either side of Morgan cutting through the fabric of the dark matrix.

A terrifying pressure leaked through the rifts stirring a ghostly whirlwind into existence.

Beyond the rifts, white flames ignited flowing out the rifts in two massive streams.

The twin streams merged forming single massive river of flames.

With a roar, the flames moved with life like sentience, encircling Morgan abd the two rifts.

The minions in river’s path were instantly obliterated, disintegrating in a shower of sparks and darkness.

The two rifts pulsed, humming with barely restrained power then widened.

From the first rift, a massive winged beast emerged.

Where it’s eyes should have been, twin orbs of brilliant white flames burned illuminating the darkness.

The creature’s obsidian claws cracked the space where it’s stood, the very air around it sizzling from the heat emabTing off of it.

The Drayghar flapped it’s wings sending an incredulous about of power rippling through the air with terrible force.

Taking on a will of it’s own, the breeze whistled through the air with frenetic speed, slicing through several minins with terrible force.

In the next moment, a similarly massive horned creature stepped out of the opposite rift.

Two twin tails casually flicked behind it.

The darkness surged around him

The Drayghar slowly shrunk down to a smaller size.

When the darkness receded, a tall figure stood next to Morgan.

"This is quite impressive," Sarenus muttered.

"Your Void World is able to hold it’s own against this creatures pseudo void. It’d be more apt to call this a matrix." He said, his eyes scanning through the throng of dark minions.

Just then the other massive figure shrunk down in tandem, revealing the figure of a stunning woman in a flowing dark garb.

Kazarax’s dress flowed fluidly around her, in a constant motion.

Luscious dark braids of hair ran down her back, fluidly moving in the same motion as her mysterious garb.

The tall woman turned genuflecting before him and bising her head.

Morgan’s eyes widened slightly.

"Kazarax...is a lady?"

Sarenus chuckled.

" Not necessarily. Velagrew’s children are predominantly feminine. Although there are some rare exceptions...’

In the next moment, Kazarax rose, stepping forward.

" My Lord, give me your hand."

Morgan frowned slightly but obliged.

The stunning woman before him dissolved in a torrent of darkness that flowed into his chest.

Morgan gasped taking a step back.

A strange sensation washed over his head, surging through his entire body.

He fell to one knee, grasping at his face in shock.

"My eyes..."

His eyes prickled in discomfort, his perception momentarily changing.

A maddening pressure gathered behind his eyelids, threatening to split his head in two.

His eyes throbbed painfully, the shadows a d the darkness around him shifting strangely.

Morgan stumbled back grasping his head.

Gritting his teeth, he forcefully opened his eyes.

The flames in his eyes burned brighter, ereerily illuminating the slave around him for brief instant then transformed, turning to a brilliant enchanting gold colour.

"This feeling..."

The pain disappeared just as suddenly as it appeared.

Around him, his perception of the dark matrix had undergone a significant transformation.

" What is this..."

All around him, giant golden characters pulsed in unison, slowly circling through the abyssal space, in concentric rings arranged in an unfamiliar pattern.

Morgan’s eyes sparkled with golden light, his mouth falling open in shock.

His eyes roved over the giant language in wonder.

"What you’re seeing my Lord is theGrand Enchantment mapped into the entity known you know as Azaroth.

In truth, this is merely a fragment of his consciousness. It is the reason why despite his lunbeung movement, the giant you’re seeing hasn’t reached you. It’s because as he is now, he’s incapable of exerting his full strength."

Morgan slowly processed the information his gaze drifting to the massive figure that loomed in the distance."

Turning away, he turned back, to Emily.

The dark haired girl was wrapped in brilliant golden tendrils of light.

If one was to look closely, several smaller characters could be seen pulsing and humming, etched into the very fabric of the brilliant luminous threads.

The characters slowly merged with her ethereal form, ravenously sapping it of it’s ethereal light.

"Right now, she’s my main priority, how do I help her?"

Sarenus grinned.

" In order to do that, you’d need to mastered at the very least advanced level grand enchantments. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this sort of thing..."

Morgan’s flicked to him.

"And how long is a while..."

Sarenus grinned.

" A few centuries...give or take... I was stuck in that sanctuary for a while before you came along..."

Morgan frowned slightly.

The golden threads continued slowly seeping under Emily’s skin.

"Fortunately, like I said before, the veliscera are adept t this sort of thing. For all his eccentricities, that bastard Velagrew was exceptionally gifted when it came to this sort of thing."

Two dark long blades manifested in Sarenus’ hands.

" The only problem should be those things," Sarenus nonchalantly said, piiting his blades at the creatures surrounding Emily.

"What are they?"

"those must be, Azaroth’s thralls. Humans that the city has managed to subjugate over time and considering the fact that it has been around for quite a lot.

" Kazarax are you able to handle this?"

The Void walker’s silhouette nodded.

" With your permission, we should be able to rescue her."

"Then our course is clear, I’ll clear a path through these beasts then you and Kazarax can rescue the damsel in distress.

Sarenus laughed, the flames in his eyes flaring even brighter.

"Ah, it’s almost poetic."

A split second later, Sarenus vanished from the spot where he’d been standing reappearing a short distance away in the midst of Azaroth’s minions.

His figure blurred mowing through the staggering creatures deftly with inhuman precision.

Focused swathes of white flames burned through the creatures , instantly setting them ablaze and incinerating them.

Morgan shuddered at the thought of having the Lord of the Drayghar as an enemy instead of an ally.

Within moments the tenebrous brutes reacted, developing a semblance of a fighting formation.

Azaroth spoke, his voice echoing through their minds .

" Impudent creature, you dare to attack me in my own matrix..."

" Get a move on!" the Drayghar roared.

Several figures were now moving the area around the drayghar quickly becoming shrouded by a cacophony of chaos.

Sarenus figure was quickly covered up by the relentless surging waves of creatures.

Amidst the ensuing chaos, a thunderous roar echoed through the darkness.

Sarenus’ massive form surged through the ocean of bodies, flinging them away like bags.

With a horrendous roar, he reared up onto his hind feet.

A terrifying surge of power ripped through the space forcefully.

In the next instant, brilliant white flames welled up in throat then burst forth, ripping through the swelling throng of minions.

"Now!"

Morgan barely had any time to appreciate the flow of overwhelming power flowing through his body.

The earlier fishon of the two parts of his consciousness had exponentially boosted his power and now, with his connection to Kazarax strengthened through the void Walker’s augmentation, that enchanced power reached new heights.

It was a wondrous experience, experiencing the World from the Void Walker’s view point.

A split second, Morgan felt his tenebrous form strain, muscles , or whatever passed for them in this lightless world tensing with effort then release like a spring.

The matrix cracked in the wake of his explosive power, the force catapulting him forward at inhuman speed.

Within moments, he flew through the ranks of Azaroth’s minions arriving next to Emily within moments.

Kazarax/Morgan’s eyes narrowed, peering into the minute runic characters engrafted into the thin luminous threads of light binding the dark haired girl.

"This is...quite ingenious...," he murmured.

In that moment, Kazarax’s knowledge flowed into his mind, the Void Walker a d his master becoming one.

From Kazarax’s memories, a catalyst was required, to break through the nexus of the intricate enchantment.

Such materials were rare and not easily obtained.

But one of the possible substitutes was at hand.

A drayghar’s fire.

Sarenus roated hurling a stream of brilliant white flames through the air.

With uncanny precision, the flames came alive, coming to a quivering stop just above Morgan.

In the next instant, a sleek elegant quill made entirely of white flames formed, floating down to Morgan’s outstretched hand.

With the expert of precision of a seasoned artisan, his hand deftly moved , blurring a across the length of the brilliant golden threads.

The quill’s fiery tip inscribed the golden thread, the white flames taking on a life of their own.

Each enchantment had a nexus that was unique to it. The nexus of an enchantment served as it’s weak point.

Like a spool of thread, a tug at the right point and the entire enchantment would come undone.
