Chapter 147: To Blessings, Then

The pain vanished as quick as it came, allowing Leo to breathe, ’Fuck that hurt so much,’ he thought.

As his eyes fluttered open, he spotted Astra unleashing a primal scream that echoed through the cave. She was wielding a blade that sang as it slashed through a dozen Wendigos, their twisted forms collapsing.

While that battle was happening, he gazed past the Demon Queen, only to notice Veladra fighting a fierce pack of Orc that tried to overwhelm the red-skinned beauty. Leo gritted his teeth and got to his feet.

He thrust his hand forward, power surging through his veins as he unleashed a storm of destruction. Thunderbolts cracked like the wrath of the heavens, tearing through the air with blinding brilliance, while fiery orbs roared forth like miniature suns.

Each spell struck its mark with devastating precision, erupting in blinding explosions that shook the cave to its core. The cavern trembled under the relentless barrage; the monsters consumed by lightning and fire.

Leo fell on his ass as the pain lingered, but that’s when the two women spun around with wide eyes. Astra was the first to react and lunged at him while wrapping him in a tight hug while she fussed over him.

’’How are you alive?’’ she asked with wide, red eyes. ’’The Devil’s poison was eating at your body.’’

’’I’m fine now, just need to rest for a while before we can continue on,’’ he said while catching his breath.

The two women agreed with nods just as he cast a Mana Barrier at the entrance, ’That should do and keep those annoying Wendigo’s away,’ he thought.

Following that, Leo started resting as his body started healing itself and, after a few hours, he felt better. He finally sat up and noticed Astra was curled up next to him while Veladra was poking the fire.

Without a sound, he materialized beside the demoness, his sudden presence startling her into a rare display of surprise. She jumped slightly, her yellow eyes widening as she exclaimed, ’’Oh damn, Master, you scared me!’’

Leo let out a soft chuckle, his voice carrying an effortless charm as he flashed a warm, confident smile. ’’Thank you for helping me, Vel,’’ he said, his tone sincere yet steady. ’’I’m truly grateful to have you both by my side.’’

The red-skinned demoness’s cheeks darkened further, a soft flush overtaking her features as she smiled. Tossing another log into the crackling fire, she said, ’’That’s okay, Master. I’m just glad to be here with you. No Demon Kings would choose a demon like me.’’

He raised an eyebrow, her words striking a chord of curiosity. ’’What do you mean by that?’’ he asked.

Veladra hesitated for a moment, her eyes reflecting the dancing flames before she said, ’’In the Demon Empire, people consider red skin an ill omen. People always suspected me of something, schemes, curses, you name it, until they realized I was your woman.’’

His curiosity only deepened, and he leaned in slightly while asking. ’’What changed when they found out?’’

Veladra giggled, a melodic sound that put him at ease. ’’Well,’’ she said, her lips curving into a smirk, ’’Once they knew you’d chosen me, and you killed my ex-husband, they saw me as a blessing.’’

Leo chuckled softly, nodding in understanding as he reached into his Item Box. He pulled out a flask of ale, taking a deep, refreshing swig that brought warmth to his chest. ’’To blessings, then,’’ he said with a grin, his tone light.

He offered the red-skinned woman some who accepted with a big smile as she started drinking. While doing that, Leo pulled up his status and decided to get rid of Lightning Punch, Eldritch Blast and Life’s Elixir, as he didn’t need them.

’Useless spells I won’t need,’ he thought with a chuckle before pulling it up.

’Impressive,’ he thought with glowing blue eyes. ’I don’t need many spells anymore. The ones I have are good enough.’

While he did that, Veladra turned to him with curious yellow eyes as she asked, ’’Can I see your status, Master?’’

Leo looked at the beautiful demoness and nodded before showing her. When she saw it, her face paled as she looked at him like he was something otherworldly. This annoyed him. ’’I’m still the same, just stronger.’’

’’I don’t mean any offence master, it’s just not every day you see numbers like this,’’ she explained. ’’But it explains why you’re special.’’

’’Let’s eat and rest, Vel,’’ Leo said softly, his voice carrying the weight of both gratitude and care as he gently pulled the red-skinned woman into a warm embrace. ’’You fought hard to protect me. You deserve to sleep.’’

Veladra let out a quiet sigh, her tense body melting into the comfort of his arms as she smiled. The demoness leaned her head against his chest. The rhythmic sound of his heartbeat lulled her into a deep sleep.

Her eyelids fluttered closed, and within moments, she succumbed to the exhaustion, drifting into a peaceful sleep, the world fading away around her as she rested in the warmth of his body and the fire.

As Leo lay awake in the shadows, a low growl of distant movement stirred the air. His senses sharpened, and his gaze snapped to the entrance. There, a sea of monstrous eyes gleamed in the dim light.

Hundreds of Wendigos, along with other nightmarish creatures. The sight ignited a fire deep within him, a primal battle lust that roared to life, flooding his veins with anticipation. He carefully laid Veladra down, ensuring she was comfortable and undisturbed.

A wicked smile spread across his face, a reflection of the storm raging within him. He could almost taste the coming violence. Without a word, Leo summoned his Demon King’s armor, which started wrapping around him with an unsettling elegance.

He cracked his knuckles, the sound of it resonating like a storm. His body radiating raw power. The first wave of creatures rushed at him, their claws outstretched, fangs bared, and eyes hungry for death.

Leo smiled coldly. ’’Let’s see if you can handle this.’’

Without hesitation, he launched himself into the horde of shocked monsters, his legs moving like blurs of motion as mana washed over his body. His right fist shot forward, colliding with the closest Wendigo’s chest.

The impact was like a thunderclap, the creature’s body exploding in a shower of gore as it was sent flying back with a sickening snap. Leo barely slowed as he spun, bringing his left fist around in a devastating arc.

He felt the air crack under the sheer force, and as his fist collided with the next creature, a massive beast with jaws wide enough to swallow a man whole, it disintegrated into a heap of charred flesh and bone.

He grinned as the storm of monsters closed in, but Leo was in his element now. Time seemed to slow as he became a whirlwind of destruction. His fists moved faster than the eye could follow, each strike unleashing a shockwave that tore through the ranks of the horde.

’’California Smash!’’ he bellowed, his voice echoing like a primal roar.

With a single explosive punch, he slammed his fist into the ground. The earth beneath him shattered with a deafening crack, and a massive shockwave rippled outward that obliterated the first row of monsters.

Their bodies disintegrating in an instant as the wave of energy surged through them. Those that stood too close were blasted apart, their bones turning to dust under the raw might of his strike.

But Leo wasn’t done and rose from the impact, already preparing for his next move. His fists ignited with a glowing energy, each one crackling with unholy power. He closed his eyes for a heartbeat, centering himself before his next devastating move.

Leo’s eyes glowed with a power that the world hadn’t seen in generations. He raised his fist. ’’Thunderbolt!’’

A deafening roar of thunder tore through the dungeon, shaking the walls. In an instant, a bolt of lightning descended, not from the heavens, but from Leo’s very hands. It surged through his fists, crackling with savage fury, before it shot forward in a blinding streak of light.

The bolt struck the center of the horde, igniting a chain reaction of chaos as the divine wrath struck the monsters down.
