Chapter 55: Guilds & Conflicts

The two groups stared at Kai as he opened his interface and scrolled through the settings until he found the option to hide his name and turned it on. The people from the other group also started murmuring about ’Horse’ and ’Dungeon record’.

Kai remembered a few names from Xterminate07’s old guild—it was called Red Wolf Legion. It wasn’t that big a name, a small-time guild, but it had survived two years as a guild, and they certainly had left their mark in the game in Kai’s last timeline.

Suddenly, the leader of the opposite side straightened his clothes, put away his sword, and walked toward Kai, greeting him with a firm handshake. Graveyardshift. Kai had never heard the name before.

"I am a representative of Obsidian Mask Knights. You must have heard our name—if not, search it up. Renatus_Kai, on behalf of our guild, I invite you to join us and become part of the biggest guild in this game," said Graveyardshift without missing a single word.

"Oh.. Thanks. I’ll think about it," Kai replied with a fake smile.

It was kind of true. In professional matches for the championship, there were two names that were the most popular and were a notch above other teams. Behind them was the power of their two in-game guilds: Obsidian Mask Knights and Purple King Shadow. They were the biggest names in the last timeline’s Nyxfall—both in real-life matches and in-game guilds.

Both were guilds that ruled with absolute authority and did all kinds of things in the open and in the shadows. Many posts about the resource hogging by these two and other guilds, and about how they ruined player experience, were quite popular last time. Among them, the most nefarious was Obsidian Knights and their invitations—if anyone refused, the player or the guild would find it very difficult to progress further on their own. More than guilds, they were like street gangs.

The personality that Kai had as a teenager.. Needless to say, he was quite a killer of these people who came to "talk" to him with offers. He was famous for soloing dungeons. Because of him recording his gameplay and uploading videos, most guilds left him alone and only attacked through third-party influence—the most annoying of which were the Obsidian Mask Knights.

They were already professional gaming clubs. However, right now they are focused on other games. It would take time before the big names started playing this game. Things might be different now that the game was totally another one, but the manpower and influence these two names carried would surely put them in high places even in this version.

"I suggest you walk away, friend. We have no beef with you guys.." Xterminate07 said to Kai, coming up behind Graveyardshift.

Kai looked toward the guy—it was the same face he knew, just slightly younger.

"If you accept or help us now, we will give a horse to all three of you.." Graveyardshift tried to add Kai’s three into their group against the Red Wolf Legion. A guy from the Obsidian Knights came up and whispered in his leader’s ear, "That’s the guy who taught everyone how to get a horse and that skill.."

Graveyardshift’s eyes widened. He opened his mouth to increase the value offered, perhaps with rare equipment or money, but Kai just raised his hand and stopped the guy mid-sentence.

"I’ll think about it. Now excuse us—we have a dungeon waiting for us."

"Haha.. No flimsy schemes of yours can save your ass this time, Grave. Now come on and fight like a man," Xterminate07 said, laughing together with his friends.

Graveyardshift gritted his teeth, glaring at his laughing face. Then he looked at Kai with disdain and took out his sword again. Kai gestured for Zayden and Bella to move as he also started running. When he looked back, his eyes met with Xterminate07, and the guy nodded at him. Kai also replied in kind.

Powerful guilds always played the numbers game, overwhelming their opponents. Red Wolf Legion must have cornered them on the way to the dungeon—Who knew what started this, Most likely the dungeon records.. Some names did sound familiar along with Xterminate07 placed on the Beast Hollow record board. Kai would not come in between to ruin the "fun" of the two guilds.

Before leaving far, however, Kai shot an arrow onto the distant tree branch overlooking the two groups fighting.

"Have you heard the name Obsidian Mask Knights? I’ve watched some clips—they have a really big following and even a pro team.." Bella said, running beside him.

"And?" Kai asked.

"Was it wise to not help them when asked? What if they hold it against you?" she continued.

"They’ll hold it against me no matter what I do, as long as my name is even slightly famous.." Kai replied, chuckling.

Once he was out of sight from anyone watching, he pulled Bella and Zayden to the side.

"Why are we stopping again?" Zayden asked.

"Can you do the trade right now?" Kai asked Bella. She nodded. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Kai gave her the cape, and she gave him the skill book for Basic Forger Skill. Kai quickly used 1 SP to learn it, opening the crafting lab in his interface.

In one of the two empty slots for Grinding, Kai put Volcanic Ore he had bought from the market and turned it into Volcanic Salt using 0.3 MP. Then he put Sulfur Bark in the same Grinding slot, storing the Volcanic Salt in inventory. Sulfur Bark became Grounded Sulfur Bark with 0.1 MP. Then Kai put the Grounded Sulfur Bark in one slot of Infusion and Carrier Oil(Bought from Market) in another slot and infused them with 0.2 MP, turning it into Sulfur Bark Oil. Once again, using an infusion of two ingredients—Sulfur Bark Oil and Volcanic Salt, 0.2 MP cost again—He produced their mixture. Kai at last used the mixture and infused it with three arrows (Skill Limit), turning their arrowheads into Clay Shards.

That was the process of creating Basic Explosion Arrow Lv.10.
