On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 165: Let’s Start Over
Seeing the smug look on Theodore Grant’s face, I took a deep breath, forcing down the bitterness welling up inside me.
This was no time to get sentimental.
Even if I wanted to comfort Sebastian Forrest or just feel for him, I had to get rid of Theodore Grant first.
I composed myself and looked at Theodore Grant, my face devoid of expression. "You said it yourself—he’s only *suspected* of plagiarism. I believe Sebastian Forrest would never do something like that. The truth will come out in time."
Theodore Grant scoffed as if he’d just heard a joke. "Chelsea, how can you still be so naive? With Sebastian Forrest’s status and background in Kington, who would dare to cross him unless his old man gave the nod? Everything he’s going through right now... it’s all because of you."
Every one of Theodore’s words was a precise jab at my weakest spots, making my heart tremble with pain.
As if I didn’t already know everything he was saying.
No wonder he had been so busy lately, his brow constantly furrowed with fatigue and gloom. I had even woken up in the middle of the night several times to see him still working at his computer...
Whenever I asked, he would just say he was handling something urgent and never told me more.
It was because, in my mind, Sebastian Forrest was just so capable, practically invincible...
So much so that I had completely overlooked his struggles.
In that moment, a wave of guilt threatened to drown me.
"As long as Sebastian Forrest refuses to back down, the pressure on him will multiply. His reputation will be ruined, and he won’t even have a foothold left in the world of scientific research! Do you really want to watch him be destroyed like this...?"
Before he could finish, I cut him off, my voice cold. "No matter how hard it gets, I will face it with him!"
Theodore Grant’s gaze was scorching, almost aggressive. "The fall from grace is a bitter pill to swallow. Do you think a golden boy like Sebastian Forrest can handle that kind of downfall? When the time comes, do you think he’ll regret being with you?"
I knew Theodore was just trying to drive a wedge between Sebastian and me, but even so, a fire of rage ignited within me. My words came out laced with anger. "This is between my husband and me! It has nothing to do with you!"
The word "husband" seemed to stun him for a second. He pressed his lips together. "Why are you being like this? Instead of waiting for Sebastian Forrest to regret it, you should just leave him now. We can start over..."
I was so furious I laughed. It was absurd.
’What does Theodore Grant take me for?’
’Or does he think I’m still the same fool who used to worship the ground he walked on?’
"Start over?" I scoffed.
Theodore Grant nodded eagerly, his eyes filled with hope. "Yes."
"Start what?" I stared at him coldly. "The only reason I ever liked you in the first place was that I thought you were Sebastian Forrest."
Theodore’s face twisted with indignation. "You’re telling me you liked me for all those years, just because of a school uniform?"
"Yes," I said, looking him straight in the eye. "If I had known back then that person wasn’t you, I never would have liked you in the first place!"
’After all those years with Theodore Grant, I knew better than anyone exactly where to twist the knife to make it hurt the most.’
Theodore Grant shook his head in disbelief and suddenly gripped my shoulders. "I don’t believe it. Chelsea, I don’t believe you don’t love me..."
"Let go of me!" I struggled instinctively.
"For every one of my birthdays, you’d plan a special surprise. No matter how late I got home from work, you’d make me longevity noodles. Whenever I got drunk, you’d stay up all night taking care of me. You picked out all my clothes. You even helped me get dressed every morning..."
I let out a cold laugh, cutting off his tirade. "Theodore Grant, you just miss having a puppet who obeyed your every whim. You’re desperately clinging to me not because you love me, but because you’re possessive. You can’t stand to see something you consider yours get taken away by someone else."
"No, it’s not like that." Theodore Grant shook his head, leaning in close to me. "Chelsea, I love you! I really do..."
I instinctively turned my head away. "Theodore Grant, let go of me."
"I won’t let go." Theodore’s words seemed to hold a deeper meaning. "I let you go once before. This time, I will never let go, no matter what!"
"Chelsea Joyce, just give me one last chance, please? I’ll prove to you that I really love you..."
"Your love makes me sick!" I cut him off coldly.
"Chelsea—"
But before Theodore Grant could finish, a deep, icy voice cut in from behind—
"Theodore Grant, get your filthy hands off my wife!"
My heart leaped with joy. I glanced over and saw Sebastian Forrest striding through the door, his hands in his pockets. His face was cold and stormy.
"Sebastian Forrest!"
I shoved Theodore Grant’s shoulders hard and started toward Sebastian Forrest. Sebastian grasped my shoulders to pull me into his embrace, but just then, Theodore seized my wrist.
A chill entered Sebastian Forrest’s eyes as he threw a punch.
With a muffled cry, Theodore Grant staggered to the side, his hand releasing my wrist.
"Are you okay?" Sebastian Forrest asked, his face full of concern as he looked me up and down.
I quickly shook my head. But a sudden wave of guilt and injustice washed over me, and my eyes filled with tears.
Sebastian Forrest cupped my face in his hands, his voice full of affection. "Silly girl, what are you crying for? I’m here now, aren’t I?"
I just kept shaking my head as tears streamed uncontrollably down my face.
Sebastian wiped my tears away. "Okay, no more crying."
I knew this wasn’t the time to cry, so I quickly wiped my own tears and turned to glare at Theodore Grant. He was rubbing the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb, and I looked at him with undisguised disgust.
When he caught my eye, Theodore’s brow furrowed slightly before he quickly looked away. He turned his cold gaze to Sebastian Forrest. "You got here fast. Keeping a tight leash on her after stealing another man’s wife, are you? Afraid I’ll steal her back?"
His words were dripping with sarcasm.
But Sebastian Forrest just sneered. "Steal? Theodore Grant, who’s the one who did the stealing? Don’t you know the answer to that yourself?"
That question hit a nerve. Though Theodore’s expression remained blank, a flicker of coldness crossed his eyes.
"I really underestimated you. I never expected you to have hidden your intentions so well. If I hadn’t noticed Chelsea’s phone was off, I wouldn’t have realized you’ve been lying in wait all this time..." Sebastian Forrest said, staring coldly at Theodore Grant.
"Chelsea was my wife! You’re the one who stole her from me!" Theodore Grant bit out, his teeth practically clenched.
Sebastian couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him. He looked at Theodore, his gaze icy. "Before, I was willing to let things slide out of consideration for the time you saved Chelsea. But this time, you’ve really crossed the line!"
"So what?" Theodore Grant snorted. "In your current situation, you can barely save yourself. You dare to threaten me?"
But Sebastian Forrest just smiled. "Then just you wait."
