On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 66: Can You Keep a Secret for Me?
I frowned and glanced down at the envelope, hesitating for a moment.
I didn’t know what game this William Westwood was playing. What’s more, he was Clara Langley’s ex-husband.
If that was his only connection to her, it might have been fine, but the child Clara Langley was currently carrying was his...
’Friend or foe? I can’t tell yet.’
Beside me, Chloe Miller tilted her head and leaned in, clearly curious about what was inside the envelope.
’Oh, whatever. What’s meant to be will be.’
I immediately pulled the photos from the envelope. But when I saw the people in them, my eyes widened in shock—
The people in the photo were none other than my older brother and Clara Langley!
The two of them were standing close, and Clara Langley even had her arm linked with my brother’s, smiling brightly at the camera...
I subconsciously looked up and met Chloe Miller’s equally shocked face.
’My brother and Clara Langley?’
’How did these two, who have absolutely no connection to each other, end up together?’
"Mr. Westwood, what is the meaning of this?" I asked, clutching the photo as I looked at William Westwood, my heart leaping into my throat.
In an instant, a torrent of thoughts flooded my mind, threatening to overwhelm me.
William Westwood unhurriedly adjusted the blanket on his lap before looking up at me, the corners of his lips turning up slightly. "Miss Joyce, I mean no harm. I just happened to come across this photo and thought you would be a more suitable owner for it than I."
As he spoke, the smile on his face vanished completely. "Let’s go."
The burly man in black behind him immediately began to push the wheelchair away.
"Mr. Westwood..." I subconsciously moved to follow him.
But before I could take more than a few steps, another large man in black blocked my path. I could only watch helplessly as William Westwood was wheeled away.
"Chelsea..." Seeing that the man who had blocked me was also leaving, Chloe Miller rushed to my side and grabbed my arm. "Let’s go. We can talk about this when we get home."
I couldn’t help but take a deep breath and nod. "Okay."
On the way home, I kept my head down, staring at the photo in my hand.
My brother’s smile in the photo was radiant, filled with a happiness that was plain to see.
’But how could he possibly be involved with Clara Langley?’
’And what does William Westwood want by giving me this photo?’
A jumble of questions threw my mind into chaos. I couldn’t help but rub my temples, feeling utterly flustered.
"Chelsea, I think we’re being followed!"
Just then, Chloe Miller, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up, her voice laced with tension.
Her words made my heart drop. I instinctively glanced at the rearview mirror.
A black Maybach was following closely behind us...
But when I made out the license plate number, the tension in my chest eased, and I quickly said, "It’s Senior Forrest..."
"Huh? It’s Master Forrest?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
I nodded. I was sure I wasn’t mistaken; after all, I’d ridden in his car many times.
Chloe Miller let out a long sigh of relief and patted her chest. "Oh my god, you scared me to death. I thought Clara Langley’s ex-husband had sent people to come after us..."
I laughed. "It’s not that dramatic."
Chloe Miller grinned at me. "So what do you think Senior Forrest is doing following us?"
"Maybe he’s just heading the same way?"
"How many ’just so happens’ can there be?" Chloe Miller gave me a playful wink. "You don’t think Master Forrest is coming for you, do you?"
"Don’t be ridiculous."
"What’s so ridiculous about it? You know now that he likes you, so he..."
But she stopped mid-sentence.
I looked at her, confused.
Before I could figure it out, Chloe Miller suddenly flicked on her turn signal and pulled over to the side of the road.
"What’s wrong?" I was completely bewildered.
"Silly Chelsea, think about it. Where did we just come from?" Chloe Miller asked, pursing her lips.
I blinked, not quite understanding her. "From the hospital. Why?"
Chloe Miller poked my forehead, then glanced quickly at the rearview mirror. Seeing that Sebastian Forrest had indeed pulled over behind us, she said, "If Master Forrest followed us all the way from the hospital, it means he definitely knows something..."
I froze, finally realizing what she meant. "You... you’re saying Senior Forrest knows I’m pregnant?"
"I don’t know for sure, but it seems likely..."
"Then what do I do?"
"What else can you do but face the music?" Chloe Miller pointed at the rearview mirror, where Sebastian Forrest was already getting out of his car. "I think you two should have a good talk. I, for one, am looking forward to you finding a father for this baby."
"Chloe..."
--’KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK’!
But before I could finish, Sebastian Forrest was already knocking on the passenger-side window.
"Go on," Chloe Miller said, giving me a gentle push.
I hadn’t felt anything before, but suddenly, I was nervous.
I took a deep breath, then opened the door and got out.
"Senior Forrest, how did you..."
"Are you okay?" Sebastian Forrest cut in.
I quickly shook my head. "I’m fine..."
Sebastian Forrest pursed his lips before explaining, "I was at the hospital to see Jude Miller and happened to see you..."
As he spoke, his gaze dropped to my lower abdomen. "You’re... pregnant?"
My heart clenched. ’He really knows!’
I never thought the secret I’d hidden for so long would be discovered so easily.
"Yes," I nodded. I didn’t try to hide it from him. Perhaps, deep down, a part of me wanted him to know...
’I hope he pulls back from the brink in time.’
’As long as that unspoken line between us remains uncrossed, I can pretend I don’t know anything. It would be best if we could just continue being friends, just like this.’
"Do you want to have this child?" Sebastian Forrest’s brow furrowed slightly, and an emotion I couldn’t decipher swirled in his jet-black eyes.
"Yes." I nodded again.
Sebastian Forrest pressed his lips together, then lifted his gaze to meet mine, his eyes boring deep into me. "Chelsea, actually..."
His stare made my heart race. Afraid that his next words would shatter the relationship we currently had, I quickly interrupted him. "This child is Theodore Grant’s..."
Sebastian Forrest’s expression froze, as if he hadn’t heard me correctly. "What?"
I took a deep breath and said, word for word, "I’m saying, this child is Theodore Grant’s. But I want to have him and raise him myself."
Sebastian Forrest’s lips tightened into a thin line, his eyes fixed on me. "So, what are you trying to say?"
"Can you help me keep this a secret from Theodore Grant, Senior Forrest?"
A smile, a mix of self-deprecation and helplessness, touched Sebastian Forrest’s lips. In the end, he just gave a light chuckle and looked up at me. "Alright. I’ll help you keep your secret."
