On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 72: Mother-in-law Woke Up
And to my shock, it was the video from when Chloe Miller and I ran into Theodore Grant and Clara Langley while we were out shopping!
But how could a security camera video suddenly be uploaded online and start trending?
As I reeled in shock, the video continued to play.
"A divorce? Theodore Grant, you’re getting a divorce?"
"That’s right! They’re getting a divorce. Aren’t you thrilled? Just in time to make room for you two—the scumbag and the slut!"
"What are you talking about? Theodore Grant and I are just good friends. There’s nothing going on between us. What does their divorce have to do with me?"
"Tch! Shameless homewrecker!"
The video cut off abruptly there.
Someone had clearly paid to get this trending. Its popularity soared, and it eventually shot straight to the number one spot. As more and more people clicked on it, the engagement remained incredibly high.
At first, Clara Langley’s fans were trying to control the comments section.
[Don’t believe or spread rumors. Please focus on our Clara’s work instead.]
[Clara Langley kept stressing that they’re ’just friends.’ I don’t see why a video like this should even be trending.]
[The ex-wife is conveniently out of the picture. The power of money is truly amazing!]
However, as more and more onlookers flooded in, they gradually lost control of the comments.
[Does anyone else think Clara Langley is a total fake? She keeps going on about being ’just friends,’ but I don’t remember her mentioning that when they announced their relationship a few days ago!]
[She’s giving off some serious ’pick-me girl’ vibes.]
[I saw her fans in the comments calling him ’brother-in-law’ so affectionately before, but he wasn’t even divorced then! If she isn’t the other woman, then what is she?]
As I watched everyone air their opinions on the trending topic, the tide of public opinion slowly began to turn in my favor.
Seeing the situation turning against her, Clara Langley quickly posted a statement.
Clara Langley V: First, let me state clearly—I was not involved in anyone else’s marriage. The truth will speak for itself. Second, please, everyone stop fighting. I’m sorry for taking up public resources. Finally, I want to apologize to everyone and say I’m sorry for making those who love me worry.
As soon as she posted it, her fans flocked to the comments.
[SOB, Clara, don’t blame yourself! It’s not your fault!]
[The truth will out. Don’t believe or spread rumors. Everyone should just focus on her work as an actress.]
[Just an onlooker here, but her apology seems sincere. I’ll wait and see how this develops. Hopefully, it’s all a misunderstanding.]
I quickly scanned through the comments. I had to admire Clara Langley’s quick reflexes; no wonder she’s thrived in a place like the entertainment industry.
Seeing that the situation was calming down, I closed the app.
"Senior Forrest, did you post that video?" I turned to look at Sebastian Forrest.
"I did."
"But how did you even find it?" I asked, completely surprised.
"Especially since it happened over two weeks ago."
"The mall you were in is one of Forrest Group’s properties."
"..."
I shook my head, a stunned, wry smile on my face. Then I looked at Sebastian Forrest gratefully. "Thank you, for this."
"You don’t have to be so formal with me," he said, glancing at my office entrance. "Are you working today?"
"My manager gave me the day off."
"Then come to my office with me. As it happens, you can give me a hand with something."
"Okay."
Sebastian Forrest chuckled softly. Just as he was about to start the car, my phone suddenly vibrated.
When I saw the two words on the caller ID—’Theodore Grant’—my expression soured, and I hung up without a second thought.
But Theodore Grant was relentless, calling several more times in a row, making it clear he wouldn’t stop until I answered.
I pressed my lips together but eventually caved. "Hello."
"Why aren’t you answering my calls?" Theodore Grant’s voice was low, obviously suppressing his anger.
"If you have something to say, say it," I said coldly.
Theodore seemed to take a deep breath before speaking. "I heard about what happened online. I’ll have Clara apologize to you."
I snorted impatiently. "Are you done?"
"There’s more..." Theodore sounded anxious. "Is it really that annoying for you to even speak to me now? Chelsea, you were never like this before..."
I cut him off. "You said it yourself—that was before. I loved you before. I don’t anymore."
"Impossible!" Theodore’s voice shot up. "Feelings can’t just be switched off! You’ve loved me for so many years. How can you just decide you don’t love me anymore?"
"Why not?" I cut in, my voice colder and calmer than ever before. "Theodore Grant, I truly don’t love you anymore. Not even a little."
’Perhaps all his neglect, time after time, had finally filled me with enough disappointment.’
’Looking back now, I realize my love for Theodore Grant was a castle in the sky. It was always going to crumble.’
This time, Theodore didn’t say anything, but I could hear him breathing heavily through the phone, clearly furious.
’In the past, I never could have borne making him angry. I would have been bending over backward to appease him.’
’But now...’
’Whether he’s angry or not has nothing to do with me.’
"If there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang—"
But before I could finish, Theodore’s low voice cut me off. "I’m sorry..."
"What?" For a moment, I wasn’t sure I’d heard him right. Or maybe I had, and I just couldn’t believe my ears.
"I’m sorry," Theodore repeated.
I was stunned. I never thought I’d one day hear those two words from Theodore Grant’s lips.
’But so what?’
’I wouldn’t tell him, ’It’s okay.’’
’Because I will never, ever forgive him.’
"Is there anything else?"
Theodore took a deep breath. "My mom... she’s awake. She said she wants to see you..."
A surge of joy filled my heart. ’His mother is awake?’
’This is wonderful!’
I immediately turned to Sebastian Forrest, my whole face breaking into a smile.
"I heard," Sebastian Forrest said with a soft chuckle. "Then let’s go to the hospital first and see Aunt Langley."
I nodded eagerly.
Just then, Theodore obviously heard Sebastian’s voice through the phone. His own voice immediately dropped. "You’re with him?"
But I was in no mood to talk to him anymore and just hung up.
When Theodore called back, I blocked his number.
Soon, the car pulled up to Kington University Hospital.
As soon as I pushed open the door to her room, I met my mother-in-law’s kind, gentle gaze.
For some reason, my eyes welled with tears, and I suddenly thought of my own mother.
"Chelsea, you’re here?" she said, struggling to sit up.
I rushed forward. "Please, don’t get up."
"Theodore told me... were you the one who first realized I hadn’t had an attack, but had been poisoned?"
I instinctively glanced at Theodore Grant, wondering why he would tell his mother that.
’Even if what he said was the truth.’
’But there’s no way Theodore could have known that.’
’As far as he knew, Sebastian Forrest was the one who told him.’
"So it really was poison?" My heart clenched. "Did they find the person who did it?"
My mother-in-law clenched her fists, hatred flashing across her face. "We did."
"Who was it?"
