On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 93: Clara Langley Knows I’m Pregnant
Just in the nick of time, my hand shot out and gripped the handrail.
Even so, I still tumbled down two or three steps before I managed to steady myself.
"Are you crazy?" I looked up and snapped. "Why did you push me?"
If I hadn’t caught the railing just now, I would’ve fallen down the stairs! My baby would have been in grave danger!
Clara Langley shrugged and explained, "It wasn’t on purpose. You were the one who told me to let go."
"You pushed me!" I was furious. "What if I had fallen down the stairs? Do you have any idea I could sue you for assault?"
My unborn child was my bottom line.
Especially since it was Clara Langley.
The mix of old grudges and this new provocation made the anger swell in my chest. I wanted to lunge at her and bite her.
Clara Langley’s expression turned ugly. She pursed her lips, annoyed. "That’s because you were struggling so hard. If I hadn’t pushed you away, what if you had pulled me down the stairs with you? The baby I’m carrying is Theodore Grant’s..."
At this, she sneered, her gaze casually sweeping over my stomach. "Besides, you’re not pregnant. A little fall won’t hurt you. I don’t know why you’re being so dramatic."
Her words were light and casual, but they made me tremble with rage. "A little fall won’t hurt? Then how about I give you a push and we’ll see if it hurts you?!"
Clara Langley looked completely unconcerned. "I’m pregnant now. Of course a fall would hurt me. What? Don’t tell me you’re pregnant too?"
As she spoke, her malicious gaze fixed on my belly, a flash of viciousness in her eyes.
I almost instinctively covered my stomach. Even though Clara Langley’s words had left my mind in a chaotic mess, a sliver of reason remained.
And then, a thought suddenly surfaced—’Clara Langley knows I’m pregnant!’
’Could it be from yesterday?’
I suddenly remembered that Chloe Miller had registered me for an appointment yesterday. My name would have definitely appeared on the large screen...
’Could Clara Langley have seen it?’
While my mind was racing, Clara Langley suddenly started laughing. "Look at me, what am I even saying? How could you possibly be pregnant? But even if you were, it would just be some bastard from God knows what man. It definitely wouldn’t be Theodore Grant’s child, right?"
"The one in *your* belly is the bastard!" I glared at her, grinding my teeth, wishing my eyes could burn a hole through her.
Clara Langley puffed out her stomach, a smug look on her face. "Next week is my engagement party with Theodore Grant. When the time comes, the child in my belly will be the legitimate young master of the Grant Family!"
As she spoke, she looked me up and down. "You’d better be careful, though. You were lucky you didn’t fall down the stairs today, but your luck won’t always be this good..."
Her smile was a vicious sneer. "There are so many cars and people outside. What if, one day, you get hit by a car or bumped into by someone... HAHAHA!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
SLAP!
Before she could finish, I swung my hand and slapped her hard across the face.
The slap sent Clara Langley staggering, almost making her fall. She clutched her face, her voice rising in outrage. "How dare you hit me?"
I grabbed her by the collar and slammed her against the stair railing. Caught off guard, she lurched backward, the entire upper half of her body hanging over the banister.
The intense feeling of weightlessness made her frantically grab my wrist, her voice trembling. "Chelsea Joyce, are you insane? Let me go, now!"
"Let you go?" I sneered, slightly loosening my grip on her. "Are you sure?"
Clara Langley immediately started screaming in terror. "Y-You, pull me back up, now!"
I pushed down on her wrist a little more and said coldly, "Apologize."
Clara Langley’s face was flushed red. "Chelsea Joyce, did you hear me? Pull me up right now! If I fall, you’re dead!"
I let out a soft laugh. "Then let’s find out who’s really dead."
As I spoke, I pushed down again, my expression ruthless, as if I wouldn’t stop until I’d shoved her completely over the edge.
"I... I was wrong! I’m sorry, Chelsea Joyce! You... pull me up! My stomach... my stomach hurts!" Clara Langley cried out in a panic.
My brow furrowed. With her back arched like that, her belly was particularly prominent. It looked like she was about three months along...
’A pregnancy that far along... she could only fool a layman like Theodore Grant.’
Seeing that Clara Langley was still crying out in pain and didn’t seem to be faking it, I let go and pulled her back up.
Clara Langley slumped onto the steps, completely losing her composure. She clutched her stomach, panting heavily, clearly terrified.
’It makes sense,’ I thought. ’She has every reason to be scared.’
Theodore Grant only agreed to be with her because of the child in her belly. If she lost that baby...
She’d have nothing left to cry with.
I looked at her coldly. "I’ll let you off today because you’re pregnant. But if there’s a next time..."
My voice paused. I gripped the railing, leaned in, and stared into her eyes. "I will throw you down from here myself."
With that said, I ignored her and turned to leave.
Just as my hand gripped the doorknob to pull the door open, Clara Langley suddenly shouted furiously, "Chelsea Joyce, don’t you get cocky! Don’t think you can strut around in front of me just because you’ve latched onto Master Forrest. Do you really think Master Forrest would want a worn-out slut that’s been passed around?"
I whipped my head around to glare at her. "If you don’t want me to throw you down these stairs, shut your mouth!"
"I’ll say what I want!" Clara Langley, still sitting on the steps, hugged the banister tightly, as if that would stop me from getting to her.
I took a deep breath, not wanting to engage with this lunatic any longer.
But then, Clara Langley broke into a strange, twisted smile. "What do you think Master Forrest’s reaction would be if he found out you’ve slept with more than just Theodore Grant? Would he still protect you like he does now?"
"You’re insane. Get help," I threw out coldly, then pulled the door open and left.
...
I had thought that would be the end of it for today.
But I had once again underestimated Clara Langley’s shamelessness.
A few minutes later, a colleague told me I was wanted in the manager’s office.
The moment I pushed the door open, I saw Clara Langley sitting on the sofa, surrounded by a circle of the company’s senior executives.
Her agent was the first to attack, storming right up to me and pointing a finger at my nose. "Are you out of your mind? Bullying my Clara? Believe it or not, I’ll call the police and have you arrested!"
Her face was contorted with uncontrollable rage, the fat on her cheeks jiggling with her every move. "Your boss invited our Clara here today to discuss next year’s voice acting collaboration. Is this how your company treats its guests?"
"Fine! I’ll go out right now and tell everyone what happened. We’ll see who dares to work with you, Wind-Whisper, after this!"
