One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 58 — Fifty-eight
While Alexander made things clear to Rhea, Serena was welcomed by Maya and Mama who were fussing over her.
When she stepped into her apartment, Mama burst out crying as she rushed to her.
"Oh my child." She sniffed, holding her by the arms to take a good look at her. "You’ve suffered."
Serena rubbed her eyes. "Mama, I’m exhausted and hungry." She pouted.
"Yes, food." Mama slapped her forehead as though she blamed herself for forgetting such an important detail. She turned to Maya whose relieved gaze was fixed on Serena.
"Girl, I’ll have to trouble you to serve the table." She stared at Maya..
"Of course." Maya nodded and dashed to the kitchen.
Mama led Serena to have her seat.
Once they were comfortable, she probed. "I’m glad you are fine. You have no idea how devastated I was when I learnt that you were missing."
"I’m fine now, aren’t I?" Serena muttered cheekily.
Mama patted her hands. "Yes you are. I’m relieved that you’re safe." Then she lowered her voice, "tell me, how did this happen?"
Serena exhaled then she recounted everything which occurred right from when she was kidnapped down to the rescue.
Mama had a varying degree of expressions as she listened to her speak.
"I always knew that girl was evil." She clenched her fists. "But she has gone too far this time. I have to teach her a lesson."
She was about to stand to her feet when Serena held her back. "You don’t have to worry. I believe she would get her retribution. The important thing is that I’m back home."
Then the look in her eyes dimmed. "I’m just furious that I was unable to spend more time with my mom."
Mama only sighed in response..
"Table is set." Maya’s voice from the dining table snapped the two women from their thoughts and they both went to the dining room.
---------------------
The sky darkened as night crept in. Maya didn’t return to her apartment. Instead, she stayed with Serena.
Currently, they were both in Serena’s room. Since they were about the same size, Maya was wearing one of Serena’s nightdresses.
"You had no idea how much Alexander panicked when he couldn’t find you in the office." Maya blabbered, placing a piece of biscuit into her mouth.
Chewing loudly, she continued. "When it was confirmed that you’ve gone missing, I wished the earth would open up and swallow me. His aura was dangerous. It felt like he would kill someone. I’ve never seen someone so angry."
Serena only listened to her words as she recalled how cold his eyes were during the day when he confronted Jessica.
"Earth to Serena," Maya snapped her fingers when she noticed that Serena was absentminded, breaking the latter’s train of thoughts .
"What?" She asked absentmindedly.
Maya gave her a pointed stare. "Are you even listening to me?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Serena rubbed her nose guiltilty.
"Whatever." Maya waved her hands. Fortunately, she wasn’t a petty person. "But I’m sure of one thing." She suddenly mumbled, gaining Serena’s attention..
"And what is that?" She probed.
"Alexander liked you." She declared, a strong conviction in her tone.
Serena’s eyes widened. She was about to speak when Maya cut her off.
"I don’t want to listen to what you have to say." She shook her head. "I’m a hundred percent sure that you reside in his heart. He likes you."
"Alright, I’m tired." She yawned tiredly. "Today has been a long day. I have an important departmental meeting tomorrow. I have to sleep early." She murmured, then used the blanket to cover her body.
She drifted off to sleep instantly, it was clear that she was tired. She wasn’t even bothered that her words could keep Serena awake.
Serena, on the other hand, rubbed her chest as her mind replayed her best friend’s words.
"Alexander likes you."
"I’m sure he likes you."
"He likes you."
She covered her ears, hoping that this action of hers could block out the echoes.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed, signifying that she had received a text.
She picked up her phone. Alexander was the one who texted as though he knew he was on her mind.
[Princess, sleep well. I’m sorry I couldn’t return today, I had some errands to run.]
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Was he telling me what he was up to?" She mumbled under her breath as she read the message over again.
It seems that Alexander wasn’t satisfied as her phone buzzed again. It was another message.
[I have something to give you tomorrow. You’d be absolutely thrilled when you see it.]
Afterwards, there were no other texts. Serena read the message, and anticipation flooded her.
"What could he possibly want to give me?" She asked herself, unsure of what tomorrow might look like..
"Serena, stop tossing around and go to sleep." Maya mumbled. Serena instantly kept her phone, and the moment her head hit the pillow, she drifted off to sleep, the stress from today’s event taking over.
--------------------------
The next morning, Serena woke up feeling refreshed. Compared to the previous day where she had a gloomy expression, today she was full of vigor..
Partly due to Alexander’s texts but she couldn’t point out the other half..
"Someone looks full of life today." Maya chuckled as she exited the bed lazily. She walked straight to Serena, leaned into her ears, and whispered. "Or did you dream about the boss? Tell me, did you two cross the line in your dreams?"
Serena’s eyes widened as she stared at Maya whose teasing expression was written all over her face.
"You..." she pointed at her, trailing off. She was at a loss on what to say. "Forget it. I can’t be bothered with you."
Unfortunately for Serena, Maya wasn’t done with her. "Of course. How could you be bothered with me? You only care about the President."
Serena had enough already. Her eyes darted around and it landed on a pillow. While Maya was chuckling, Serena picked up the pillow and threw it at her.
As a result, they engaged in a pillow fight for fifteen minutes.
"Alright, I’m exhausted. I give up. I can’t win against you." Serena collapsed to the bed, breathing heavily.
Maya, on the other hand, had a smug expression as her hands were on her waist. "Told you couldn’t fight against me."
Serena smiled at her and they both burst out laughing. In her mind, she hoped that moments like this would last long.
But she had no idea why her left eye kept twitching. It felt like something bad was about to take place.
