Chapter 245 - 245: The Cursed Blade and the Floating Legend
Mary Geoise.
The Five Elders walked into the grand hall with solemn expressions.
The old man in training clothes, holding a knife, frowned slightly and said, "The Celestial Dragons need to be warned."
"That's right," another of the Five Elders nodded in agreement. "They are too reckless. After all, they stand at the top of the New World. If they provoke the wrong people, the resulting turmoil will be disastrous."
"Yes. While we aren't afraid, it would cause unnecessary trouble. The Navy has only just stabilized the seas. Our main focus should remain on the Revolutionary Army. If chaos breaks out, it might give the Revolutionary Army a chance to expand."
"Tell CP to prioritize the protection of the Celestial Dragons. If they encounter someone like the Black Crow again, they are to ignore the Celestial Dragons' orders."
"Agreed."
...
The death of the Celestial Dragons at the hands of the Black Crow sparked unrest across the seas. Yet the Navy made no move in response. Ordinary citizens couldn't understand the inaction, but the powerful figures of the New World were not surprised.
Mio certainly wasn't.
At that moment, the Black Glory had long since left the Sabaody Archipelago.
After sailing for several days, they neared a particular sea region.
Bai Feng stood beside Mio and reported, "My Lord, we're approaching Aska Island."
"Finally, we're here." Mio stretched his body and murmured with a smile of anticipation forming on his lips.
Aska Island had always been one of Mio's goals upon entering the Grand Line.
Some people might not know the island, but many remembered something associated with it—the Seven Star Sword.
A cursed holy sword introduced in the original series. If Mio hadn't known that Noah had the ability to cultivate it, he might not have paid it much attention. But upon learning that Noah could train and nurture it, his interest was piqued.
In this world, certain weapons possessed spiritual traits.
Take Kitetsu, for example.
Kitetsu was also a cursed weapon—one that chose its master. In the original story, the third-generation Kitetsu ended up in Zoro's hands by fate and choice.
This led Mio to wonder: could the Seven Star Sword also be cultivated?
This sword could manipulate human hearts—proof of its uniqueness.
In terms of raw swordsmanship, the Seven Star Sword's strength certainly wouldn't be lacking.
A demon sword capable of controlling people's hearts and radiating killing intent—such traits could become assets. With the right training and the addition of powerful genes, cultivating a sentient, dangerous being was within reach.
(Author's Note: While I will include the Seven Star Sword in the story, some of the original theatrical elements—like the three sealing gems prayed into existence by the witches of Aska—won't be included. Those aspects simply don't translate well into this fanfic and will be skipped.)
Given the Seven Star Sword's strange nature and that they were still a bit away from Aska Island, Mio made a decision.
It was time for a lottery draw—he wanted to see if he could obtain a gene compatible with cultivating the Seven Star Sword.
If he drew something fitting, he could begin the process immediately. But if not, Mio wasn't sure he would even take the sword. After all, its cursed nature could lead to complications.
Just then, Warwick approached Mio holding a Den Den Mushi in his hand.
"Sir, a call from Renee," Warwick announced.
Mio accepted the snail and answered casually, "Renee."
"Sir!" Renee's cheerful voice came through.
"Hmm, I assume there's good news?" Mio asked with a small smile.
"As expected of you, Sir! You guessed it already, amazing!" Renee laughed playfully.
Mio sighed lightly and held his forehead with amusement. It was obvious—Renee never called unless something good had happened.
He chuckled and asked, "Alright, what's the news?"
"Hehe, it's about the Golden Lion—the lead you asked me to find earlier."
"Oh?" Mio's expression turned serious, his eyes flashing with interest. "You found him?"
"There are some signs," Renee explained. "A member of the Black Shadow Corps discovered several floating islands above the sea near Reverse Mountain. They vanished quickly, but if nothing else, it suggests the Golden Lion is in the area."
"I see... Continue tracking him. Once you find his exact location, don't let him out of your sight."
Mio fell silent for a moment after speaking.
Once matters on Aska Island were resolved, he would make his way toward the Golden Lion.
This couldn't be delayed. Vegapunk's situation was always volatile—any delay could lead to trouble.
More importantly, Mio was very interested in the Golden Lion's genes.
The Float-Float Fruit's potential had already been fully developed in Golden Lion's hands. It was a powerful ability.
"What about Festa?" Mio asked next.
"As for Festa, no luck yet. Ever since Roger's execution, there's been no trace of him—not even in Impel Down."
"Keep looking." Mio stroked his chin thoughtfully. He had a few suspicions. The permanent pointer to Radluff was once in the hands of a Roger Pirates crew member. Roger had found it, thought it too dangerous, and tossed it into the sea—where it was swallowed by a large sea king.
Could Festa have suffered a similar fate?
Otherwise, it shouldn't be so hard to track him down.
Of course, that was just a random theory in Mio's head. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Renee's voice returned, respectful as ever. "Yes, I'll do my best to fulfill your command. I won't let you down. Also, Sir, I'll be giving you a surprise soon."
"Oh?" Mio raised a brow with a light chuckle. "Then I'll look forward to it."
"Ehehe, but when that time comes, Renee hopes you'll fulfill a little request from her. Will you agree?"
"A request? Sure."
"Great!"
The call ended shortly after.
Mio leaned back, thoughtful and amused. He was curious about Renee's surprise, and he had a pretty good idea about what kind of request she'd make.
After all, having spent so long with Lilith, he understood his female subordinates well.
But women like Lilith were fundamentally different from someone like Olive.
To Mio, Olive was merely a tool for release—there were no emotions involved.
Lilith and the others, however...
Mio shook his head and put the thought aside. No need to overthink it.
As their conversation wrapped up, Aska Island finally appeared in the distance—looming quietly, but full of mystery.
