one piece: gene extraction and fusion system-Chapter 246: Draw of Fate and the Demon Sword
Chapter 246 - 246: Draw of Fate and the Demon Sword
"Let's start the lottery."
With a thought, the roulette before Mio began to spin rapidly.
This time, Mio decided to draw two times.
The two Devil Fruits he previously obtained were converted into two lottery chances. Watching the rapidly spinning wheel, Mio's eyes were full of anticipation.
There were many new genes this time.
[Black Cat Sheriff Gene!] freёwebnoѵel.com
[Anaconda-Python Gene!]
[Armor Hero—Flame Dragon Warrior Gene!]
"...What the hell is this lineup?" Mio's mouth twitched involuntarily. He couldn't help but silently pray not to land on these.
Sure, they were nostalgic from his childhood. But if he was honest? Most of them weren't useful. Even the Flame Dragon Warrior, as cool as it sounded, still needed armor to be effective.
However, there was one gene among the new entries that truly caught his eye.
[Void Terror Gene]
This one came from Valoran—the world of League of Legends. While the creature itself might not be considered overwhelmingly powerful in raw stats, it had unlimited potential.
Why? Because it could endlessly evolve by consuming.
As long as it kept feeding, it would keep growing stronger.
Mio really hoped he could get that one.
As the roulette slowed down and gradually came to a stop, a panel popped up to show the result of the first draw.
[Congratulations on drawing: Samehada Gene!]
"Tsk."
"This gene... is interesting," Mio muttered with raised brows, visibly surprised.
Samehada came from the Naruto world—a living blade that fed on chakra. In a way, it was more of a creature than a tool. Definitely unique.
And this gene had excellent synergy with his Seven-Star Sword project. If cultivated properly, it could turn that sword into something terrifying.
"Alright, next."
After taking a breath, Mio tapped the "lottery" button again.
The roulette spun once more.
Mio silently watched the wheel for a few long moments. Eventually, it slowed and stopped.
[Congratulations on drawing: Shinigami Gene!]
The roulette vanished.
Mio narrowed his eyes at the result, surprised by the unexpected gain.
The Shinigami Gene—but not from any godly mythos. This was the gene from the world of Bleach.
In that world, "Shinigami" weren't individuals, but more like a species—a race of soul reapers. So it wasn't strange for this to appear as a gene, but Mio hadn't expected to get it so easily.
What made this gene special wasn't just its combat potential. It was adaptive.
Unlike obtaining someone else's Shikai or Zanpakuto, this gene allowed the cultivated creature to develop its own Zanpakuto. A manifestation of its own soul and strength.
"Not bad at all," Mio murmured, nodding in satisfaction.
Both draws were solid wins—Samehada for his sword project, and Shinigami for overall growth and adaptability.
A smile spread across his face as he looked toward the island ahead. With excitement gleaming in his eyes, he took a light leap and landed ashore.
The rest of the group followed closely behind.
Erica glanced around the island, the tentacles on her forehead stirring. "The ants told me there's something special on this island. That's what you're here for, right, Sir?"
"That's right," Mio nodded. "Let's hope it lives up to expectations. If not, this will be a wasted trip."
"I'll stay behind with Warwick," Hei Yan said calmly.
"Good. I'll leave the ship to you." Mio waved briefly toward the Drought Demon lurking in the sea and then set off toward the island's interior with the others.
As they moved forward, Erica maintained communication with the ants scattered across the island. A few ants even arrived to guide them toward the place where the Seven-Star Sword was sealed.
There was a Navy branch base here. While Mio wasn't afraid of conflict, he preferred to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. Slaughtering a base might feel satisfying in the moment, but it would surely raise flags and draw hostile attention from the Navy.
Right now, he didn't want the Navy's full focus, especially once they began pulling strength from the New World.
"Hm?"
Suddenly, Erica's eyes lit up. "Sir, some ants said they know where a Devil Fruit is."
"Oh?" Mio chuckled. "Even if our main goal disappoints, this trip might not be a total waste."
He ordered Erica to send ants to fetch the Devil Fruit, while he and the rest of the group continued toward their true goal—the Seven-Star Sword.
Before long, ruins appeared before them. Despite the passage of time, much of the old architecture remained intact. One could still faintly make out the grandeur of an ancient civilization.
"There used to be an Aska Kingdom here," Robin said as she studied a book in her hand. "If I'm right, these ruins are likely remnants of that kingdom."
"That's where our target comes from," Mio confirmed. "The holy sword they left behind."
"Holy sword?" Lilith looked puzzled. "Just a sword left behind by some kingdom?"
It didn't seem worth her master's personal attention.
Seeing the confusion in her expression, Mio offered a brief explanation. "Originally, it was just a good weapon. But over time, it absorbed too much blood and resentment, turning into a demon sword capable of controlling people's hearts."
"That sounds... ominous. Is it safe for you to use something like that?" Robin asked, visibly concerned.
"Don't worry. I've got it under control," Mio replied with a soft smile.
Soon, a tall castle came into view.
Erica pointed. "The ants say the item is sealed inside."
"Let's go in." Mio looked up at the looming structure. According to his memory, the Seven-Star Sword was sealed within a sarcophagus inside.
"Stop right there!"
A voice suddenly rang out.
Mio turned his head in surprise.
A beautiful woman in unfamiliar attire was running toward them, looking quite serious.
Robin glanced over. "She's probably the priestess of this island. They've had priestesses guarding sacred places for generations."
The priestess arrived, standing firmly before them. "You must not go any further. I cannot allow you to enter. There is something very dangerous inside!"
