His heart raced. This was it. The culmination of months of planning, suffering, and preparation.

For Charlotte.

After taking a breather and recounting his steps.

Arthur hit [Yes].

Power surged through him—raw, untamed energy that made his nerves sing. The familiar sensation of his Space talent manifested.

...

Fifteen minutes earlier.

The meeting room reeked of expensive cologne. Donald leaned back in his leather chair, face illuminated by blue monitor light as Adam paced the room.

"Damn it!" Adam slammed his fist on the table. "I'm still stuck in that damn prison! People have already reached level 16, and I'm still level 10!"

Donald's eyes flicked to Adam before responding. "Calm down. Levelling isn't difficult with our resources. Besides, you don't need to worry about that. Soon, we'll extract you."

"Do you really believe that?" Adam's laugh was bitter. "I don't think he has the capacity. That village chief has a damn dragon! Besides, it's all because of that little bastard that I'm stuck in that shithole."

Donald's expression hardened. "It wasn't his fault. You were careless. He warned you, but you didn't listen. You got both of you imprisoned." He flicked through a tablet showing Arthur's room. "Besides, the escape doesn't revolve around fighting the dragon. He's been using his luck talent to gain a favour with the guards, and it's working. He'll use that guard to help you both escape. All we need to do is create a distraction."

He leaned forward, voice dropping. "And when you're out, don't use the city teleportation scroll. We've lost control of the city! The higher-ups are breathing down my neck. You need to reclaim it and eliminate that swordmaster."

Adam frowned, nodding reluctantly. Neither man realized the "swordmaster" was Arthur himself—a revelation that would have stopped their hearts.

"What else with the kid? Is James making any progress? We can't keep using the stick; we need some carrot too."

Donald's lips curved into a cold smile. "Don't worry. I've handled that. He's been crying like a little bitch to see his sister. After weeks of denial, I finally let him see her once. Told him the next visit would be in a few months."

"Good." Adam tapped his fingers against the table. "But we should move his sister from that facility. If the merge happens and he wants to see her again, blindfolding him gets complicated. We need a more secure location."

Donald pulled out his phone. "Already ahead of you. I've ordered her repositioning. They're prepping her for transfer as we speak."

"When?"

"Tonight. The new facility has experimental containment protocols specifically designed for merge scenarios. If he somehow gains abilities, we'll be ready."

Donald's eyes flicked to the security monitor showing Arthur's room. For a split second, he thought he saw Arthur's figure.

"Huh?" He leaned closer, confused.

'Am I seeing things? Or did he log out then log in again?' He shrugged it off, attributing it to monitor glitch.

...

In his room, Arthur's cooldown started.

[60]

Before the timer could hit [59], he disappeared.

In his room, Arthur's cooldown started. [60]

Before the timer could hit [59], he vanished from reality.

Arthur materialized directly inside the hospital, precisely in front of his sister's room. He didn't care if anyone saw him—with control over space itself, he was untouchable for these precious seconds.

But when he threw open the door, ice flooded his veins.

The room was empty. Bed stripped. Equipment gone. No trace of Charlotte.

"No. No, where is she!" His voice cracked with panic.

He stormed into the room, searching frantically. Nothing. No belongings, no sign she'd ever been there.

'Did he trick me? That's impossible. Maybe she's doing a test?' His heart thundered as he glanced at the countdown.

[57]

Three seconds wasted. No progress.

He burst back into the hallway, nearly colliding with a startled nurse.

"You—what are you doing here? How did you get in?!" she demanded.

Arthur pointed a hand at her. Space folded between them, and suddenly she was yanked forward, hovering inches from his face.

"AIEEEEEEE!" Her scream echoed through the corridor as warm liquid soaked her uniform.

"Where is the patient that was in this room? One second to answer!" Arthur snapped.

"I-I don't know! I'm not in charge of this room!" Her voice shook with terror.

"Who is? Hurry!" His eyes burned with rage.

"N-Natasha, the head nurse, and Scally!"

"Where?"

"I don't know!"

Fury exploded in his chest. With a flick of his wrist, he sent her hurtling into the wall. The impact was sickening—a wet crunch as her skull shattered, body crumpling like discarded paper.

[52]

'That bitch wasted my time!' He teleported down the corridor, each jump covering as much ground as his eyes could see.

Another nurse appeared. He materialized before her, making her stumble back in shock.

"Nurse Natasha. Where is she? One second or die." No time for pleasantries.

"I don—"

She never finished. Another corpse on the pristine hospital floor.

A third nurse exited the bathroom, only to see the broken body of her colleague. Her scream pierced the air as she lunged for the emergency button on the wall.

Alarms blared.

"Attention! Intruder spotted! All personnel to safe zones immediately!"

Arthur cornered another nurse, who paled at his sudden appearance.

"Natasha or Scally. One second."

She pointed down the hall with a trembling finger. "Nurses' break room. There."

He didn't thank her. Just crushed her like the others.

'Nobody here deserves mercy,' he thought coldly as he teleported to the indicated door.

Inside, four nurses were gathering their things, responding to the alarm.

"Natasha?" Arthur demanded.

They froze, staring at the slight boy in the doorway.

"The intruder is a malnourished kid? What joke is this?" one scoffed.

"Who is Natasha?" Arthur repeated, ignoring her.

'Don't want to kill the one who knows about Charlotte,' he reminded himself, barely maintaining control.

"I am Natasha, little boy. What do you want?"

The alarm continued: "Intruder has killed multiple staff! Extreme danger! Evacuation protocol—"
