48 -44: Confrontation_1

At 9:30 a.m.

local time in Australia, after a long flight, the group finally arrived at the military base airport in Ulysses City, Australia.

The person in charge of leading the group was not Wang Xu, but a spirited-looking young man in his twenties with a buzz cut.

Before deplaning, he made a brief self-introduction: “Good morning, everyone, my name is Han Guang, and I am responsible for taking you to the Otherworld Gate.

From now on, you all follow my commands!”

“Hmm!” Luo’er nodded on behalf of everyone.

“Everyone, be careful.

The American CIA has already received intelligence and is closely monitoring us.

As soon as we disembark from the plane, remember not to linger.

Follow the command and leave here quickly.”

These words from Han Guang stirred up a bit of nervousness in everyone.

As the long-established world hegemon, the United States has been dominating Australia, and after the appearance of the Otherworld Gate, they have been continuously strengthening their military power there, intending to turn it into their own backyard.

If it weren’t for the stationing treaty, Australia could have already been completely controlled by the United States.

The group slowly exited the cabin, and the first thing that caught their eye was the towering and magnificent Otherworld Gate in the distance.

It stood in the center of the city, surrounded by layers of towering skyscrapers.

The Otherworld Gate was 400 meters high and its length reached 3,000 meters.

Exquisite and complex reliefs were carved on the stone door pillars, which were said to be the key runes to activate the Otherworld Gate, but Earthlings have never been able to decipher them.

A dazzling barrier in the gate was like a vertical plane.

No matter whether it’s the front or the back, it looked the same, but passing through this barrier from the front or from the back wouldn’t lead to the other side, but directly to the Aels Continent, located somewhere unknown in the universe.

“Luo’er, Luo’er, the Otherworld Gate!” Seeing the Otherworld Gate for the first time, Tangmo seemed particularly excited, calling out joyfully while holding Luo’er’s hand.

When Luo’er saw the Otherworld Gate again, he couldn’t help but feel a flood of emotions.

Decades ago, his father Luo Chuan and his mother Nina parted, taking him through the Otherworld Gate to Earth as a young child, but that parting turned out to be a permanent farewell.

He was also imprisoned at Haiya Academy by Luo Qishan for a full 23 years.

During those twenty-three years, he dreamed of the Otherworld Gate at all times, dreaming of passing through the Otherworld Gate and seeing his father and mother waiting for him to come home with smiling faces.

For the others in the group, the Otherworld was a completely unfamiliar world that made them feel uneasy.

But for Luo’er, the Otherworld was once also his hometown, both unfamiliar and familiar.

Regardless, his long-desired wish finally came true.

He could finally cross the Otherworld Gate and step on that land that filled him with warmth.

Thinking about this, Luo’er felt much more at ease.

He took Tangmo’s hand, leading her and saying, “Let’s go, through the Otherworld Gate, to the Otherworld.”

“Hmm!” Seeing Luo’er actively take her hand, the normally lively Tangmo couldn’t help but blush, obediently letting him lead her off the plane.

After getting off the plane, they were quickly ushered onto a military jeep.

On the way, Han Guang, who was at the wheel, activated autopilot, then turned on the touch screen on the windshield and began to explain their plan to the group.

“We set off from our nation’s stationing area, transit through others’ stationing areas, then find a gap to enter Ulysses City and finally reach the Otherworld Gate.

This way we can avoid the CIA blockade.” Han Guang opened the map and explained.

The vehicle had been driving around the Otherworld Gate for more than twenty minutes, and quickly encountered a frontier checkpoint.

Crossing this checkpoint would lead to the stationing area of another country.

Those guarding the checkpoint were clearly not soldiers from our country, but Russian soldiers with deep-set eyes and high noses.

Han Guang got out of the car and had a bubbly conversation with the soldiers of the Russian army.

They soon nodded and waved them through.

“Headquarters, this is White Whale, the goods have crossed the stationing area border and entered the Russian stationing area.

They are heading to the predetermined location, and it is expected to arrive in ten minutes!” Back in the vehicle, Han Guang opened the communication and reported the situation to the headquarters.

“The headquarters has received it.

In three minutes, the Russian convoy will arrive and assist you in reaching the predetermined location.”

“Understood, confirm the arrival of the convoy!” Han Guang responded.

Three minutes after the vehicle set off, a military jeep and an infantry combat vehicle appeared on the nearby Gobi Beach.

They soon joined the convoy, driving in front and behind.

“Won’t this bring too much attention?

American military satellites are watching us all the time.” Luo’er asked with some worry.

“That’s the effect we’re going for.

There’s no way to avoid surveillance by the Americans!” Han Guang smiled, revealing a confident smile.

“Then…” Luo’er felt a touch of anxiety.

“Rest assured, I will get you safely to the Otherworld!” Han Guang said, and turned on the vehicle map.

The convoy had been driving for more than ten minutes and soon arrived at the base of the Russian stationing area.

Not only were there powerful armored vehicles deployed here, but there was even a military airport with advanced fighter jets stationed.

The convoy drove into the hangar, which was empty except for a few military vehicles.

Once they reached the hangar, Han Guang immediately jumped out of the car and signaled everyone to get off.

A Russian colonel came forward to shake hands with him, frequently looking at the strange group of five people.

After a bubbly conversation, the colonel patted Han Guang on the shoulder, then waved his hand, and several Russian soldiers got into the jeep that Luo’er and the others had been sitting in.

The vehicle then started up and drove off in the direction of the Otherworld Gate.

“The American recon satellites should have been attracted by that vehicle by now, right?” Luo’er asked, watching the jeep driving away.

“No, they won’t necessarily fall into the trap.” Han Guang revealed a sly smile, ten minutes later, he glanced at the personal computer on his wrist, then nodded at the Russian colonel.

The other side also nodded, then called to his soldiers to get into the infantry combat vehicle that had previously escorted the jeep.

They immediately drove off in the direction they had come from.

Han Guang watched the convoy leave, then took several sets of military uniforms from a few soldiers and handed them over, “Put on the uniform and prepare to depart!”

This is a Russian desert training uniform specifically developed for desert areas in the 1940s.

It is overall earth-yellow in color and comes with a large helmet for shade and heat dissipation.

Upon putting on the uniforms and helmets, and donning tactical vests, the five of them looked exactly like Russian soldiers, including Han Guang who also changed into the uniform.

After he adjusted his uniform, he said to everyone: “Good, now we will follow their patrol team and patrol the border of the garrison area.”

As he said this, two infantry combat vehicles drove into the hangar, and then a Russian soldier got off the vehicle and called everyone to get on.

Han Guang led them onto the infantry combat vehicle, in which, other than the six of them, there was only the soldier who had just called them.

It was clear that he had just received some kind of instruction, so he dared not even glance at Luo’er and the others, who looked odd.

They all silently rode the infantry combat vehicle towards the border.

According to the garrison treaty, a garrison area was set up 20 kilometers centered around the Otherworld Gate, which was guarded by the five Permanent Member Nations.

Military forces were not allowed within a radius of 10 kilometers centered around the Otherworld Gate, so the military forces of each country could only be stationed in the final 10-kilometer area.

To reach the Otherworld Gate, they must pass through 10 kilometers of Ulysses City.

The area was under direct control of the Australian government, and it would be quite troublesome to deal with any incidents in this area.

After about 20 minutes of driving, the infantry fighting vehicle finally stopped.

Everyone followed the patrolling soldiers and lined up, coming to the open ground.

Here, two Russian patrol teams were on shift, but clearly, Luo’er and his group did not need to follow along.

Not far away another infantry carrier vehicle arrived, yet clearly it wasn’t Russian.

After it stopped, a group of Caucasian soldiers with guns got out.

Luo’er noticed the vertical tricolor flag emblem on their arms and couldn’t help but exclaim.

“French?” Luo’er looked at Han Guang with confusion.

Han Guang ignored his question.

He quickly took off his helmet and briskly crossed the boundary over to the rear door of the infantry carrier vehicle.

He then opened the door and waved for everyone to come over.

“Get in!”

Although it felt roundabout, Luo’er and others still obeyed him and quickly climbed into the infantry carrier vehicle.

After everyone got in, Han Guang spoke a few words of French to a French soldier, and then also crawled into the vehicle.

Once everyone was in, the vehicle immediately started moving, heading towards an unknown area.

“What is going on exactly?” Luo’er watched Han Guang, confused.

“Don’t think we’re safe just because we’ve made it to the Russian garrison area,” Han Guang said as he took off his Russian military uniform.

“We and Russia are both the focus of the Americans.”

“Then…” Luo’er looked towards the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

“So we found a third party to let the Russians distract the Americans for us.” Han Guang said as he took off his boots.

“Isn’t France an ally of the US?” Luo’er asked, puzzled.

“Who told you that.

The Gallic Rooster has always deemed itself important.

How could they willingly follow orders from Americans?” Han Guang said with a teasing smile.

“So they are helping us because…”

“Of course, they benefit.

The French are not like the British who love to stir up trouble.

They prefer maneuvering between the two powerful nations, seeking spaces to survive and rise.

France has never been a staunch ally of the US.

Since our rift with the US started, the French have been continuously looking for opportunities between the two of us, to maintain their position.”

“So they helped us because they benefited?” Luo’er asked.

“Of course, a generous reward!” Han Guang smiled, opened the observation window of the combat vehicle, and had a look outside.

“White Whale calling headquarters, the cargo has reached the Tricolor Flag’s garrison area, and is progressing towards the final predetermined point.” Han Guang opened the encrypted communication, reporting to headquarters.

“Headquarters received, closely monitor the situation and adjust transport plans!”

“Understood!”
