70 -66: Threat

After confirming that everyone was ready, Luo’er stretched out his hand and made a countdown gesture.

“Three!”

“Two!”

“One!”

As Luo’er held up three fingers, Tangmo silently activated the Magic Array.

A flicker of light passed by, and minute magical fluctuations appeared in the air.

Following that, the entire Silence Magic Array was activated instantly, and the rune patterns emitted a faint cold light.

With the activation of the Silence Magic Array, the trio once again found themselves in that familiar but uncomfortable silent environment.

Next, Luo’er forcefully swung down his hand and simultaneously stood up to kick open the door.

The door was easily kicked open, and Luo’er and Cheng Ziang entered in a battle formation.

This was an exotic study with an ancient charm.

The gentle warm light filled the room, making people feel incredibly comfortable.

At the center of the bookshelf was a desk, behind which sat a fat man, presumably their much sought-after Tarute.

As they burst into the room, what caught Luo’er’s eyes wasn’t Tarute but a man in armor standing in front of the desk; he looked like some sort of chief guard.

Because they couldn’t hear any sound, they maintained their original postures until the duo entered, frozen in place.

Luo’er didn’t think much of it, he aimed his gun at the armored man’s neck and pulled the trigger.

The only protection there was a layer of chainmail which was easily pierced by the bullet.

Blood splattered out instantly, and the man fell to the ground powerlessly.

On the other side, Cheng Ziang was in charge of a bald man who looked like a housekeeper.

He quickly raised his hand and a throwing knife was plunged straight into the bald man’s temple.

He too fell silently to the ground.

Luo’er then turned his gun to find a maid standing by the wall facing them.

Upon seeing their intrusion, her face was filled with terror.

Luo’er clenched his teeth but ultimately couldn’t pull the trigger.

Instead, he directly charged at her, pressing her head with one hand and slamming it hard against the wall.

The maid immediately fainted and leaned against the wall as she slowly fell to the ground.

Next, Luo’er rapidly turned around and saw Tarute trying to take something out of a desk drawer.

Luo’er swiftly aimed his gun at him and pulled the trigger without mercy.

The pistol let out a silent roar, and a bullet burrowed into his arm, breaking his bone.

Another bullet pierced his thigh.

His body trembled violently, and a bloody hole appeared in his leg.

Having successfully incapacitated Tarute, Cheng Ziang quickly pinned him down and tightly covered his mouth, as he knew that the effect of the Silence Magic was about to vanish.

Indeed, the moment he secured Tarute’s mouth, the Silence Magic disappeared instantly, and Tarute’s moans of pain reached his ears.

After switching off the Magic Array, Tangmo also entered and casually closed the door.

“Thirty seconds!” Luo’er instructed her!

“Understood!” Tangmo nodded, started to pull out the modified Rune stickers she kept inside her coat, then stuck them on the walls, the floor, and the ceiling, embedding them with Magic Crystals for power supply.

Once ready, Tangmo waved the Magic Array and started chanting spells.

After a small magical fluctuation, the Silence Space was activated again, but this time it was a Silence Magic directed at the walls, providing them with a relatively safe environment for the interrogation.

“Tie her up!” Luo’er pointed at the maid and instructed Tangmo, and then walked towards Tarute.

By this time, Cheng Ziang had let go of him and dragged him to a chair, pulling out a Grule pistol from his drawer, removing the magazine and tossing it aside.

“Tarute Alofflin, I suppose I’ve got the right person!” Luo’er spoke and showed him a portrait he held.

Tarute clenched his teeth, his lips pale.

Cheng Ziang found a rope and tied Tarute’s arm and thigh wounds to prevent death from excessive blood loss.

He turned his head to look at his two subordinates lying on the ground, his face filled with grief and anger.

“Who are you?” Tarute stared hard at Luo’er, tremblingly asking.

But Luo’er didn’t answer him, instead softly reciting a series of numbers, “20510313010104, 2051071973221…”

Tarute clenched his teeth and pursed his lips until they turned white.

He knew what these numbers meant — they were the codes for weapons exported from Earth to the Otherworld.

Or more specifically, they were the numbers for the weapons that have gone missing in the Otherworld.

The fact that these people knew these numbers made it evident that they were here because of this incident.

So when Tarute heard these numbers, he immediately fell silent.

“Where are these missing weapons?” Luo’er asked as he looked at him.

“Who exactly are you!”

Tarute looked at Luo’er’s deep green eyes, bewildered.

If it was people from Earth investigating this matter, there should not be anyone with green eyes among them.

And judging by Luo’er’s appearance, he seemed to be a half-elf.

There were no elves on Earth.

If it wasn’t people from Earth investigating this incident, how would people from their world know about the disappearance of Earth’s weapons?

Could it be that adventurers from this world were commissioned by people from Earth?

“Do you recognize these people?” Luo’er asked, pulling out several rough sketches drawn by Baiyue from his pocket.

The images depicted members of the Bloody Wolf mercenary group who had died.

“Impossible!” Tarute’s eyes widened as he quickly recognized the identities of several people.

They were the mercenaries he had personally hired.

If Luo’er had their portraits, it meant…

Tarute suddenly startled and looked at Luo’er’s dark green eyes.

As the pupils constricted, he remembered the commission handed over to him by the caucasian from Earth.

“Half-elves, a team of five, it’s you!”

Tarute finally remembered, the mission handed by the caucasian from Earth, to ambush a five-person adventure team, among whom was a green-eyed half-elf.

He had never paid attention to this matter, he personally placed the commission to the Assassin Alliance in good faith, only to discover that the target of his assassination order took the initiative to confront him.

Damn the Assassin Alliance!

“Mr.

Tarute, can you tell me now, where have those weapons you took away gone?

Why didn’t these weapons show up where they were supposed to according to the agreement?” Luo’er looked at him while continuing the interrogation.

“The otherworlders sent you, didn’t they?” Tarute looked at them unafraid and asked.

“If you continue to answer unrelated questions, I might not be able to hold back using some minor means.” Luo’er spoke casually, checking the bullets in his pistol as he stood before him.

“I don’t care.

Once you caught me, I never planned to get out alive.

I won’t tell you anything!” Tarute gritted his teeth defiantly.

“Is that so?”

Luo’er spoke nonchalantly while pulling the trigger of the gun pointed at his thigh.

With a dull gunshot, a bloody hole exploded on Tarute’s thigh.

He shuddered all over, biting his teeth tightly without making a sound.

Seeing his reaction, Luo’er knew the interrogation had encountered a slight problem.

Looking at his pocket watch, five minutes had already passed since the start of the interrogation and the effect of the Silence Rune would last for less than twenty minutes.

Therefore, he had to quickly extract clues from Tarute.

“I heard you did business with otherworlders and made a lot of money, don’t you plan to live and enjoy this money?” Luo’er asked.

“Honesty is a merchant’s most important quality.

I will not betray them.” Asserted Tarute.

“That is loyalty, not honesty.” Luo’er retorted.

“It’s the same.

If I betray them, it means my business is over.”

“So, you intend to stubbornly persist in this!” Luo’er said, continuing to fire another shot at his thigh.

“Ahh!!!”

Tarute screamed in pain, looking at him ferociously, “No matter how much you torture me, it’s useless.

I won’t betray them.”

Luo’er stood in front of him, looking down on him and saying coldly: “You don’t need to scream that loud, no one outside the room can hear, don’t waste your effort.”

Upon hearing what Luo’er said, Tarute closed his mouth, staring at him with a fierce look in his eyes, his face filled with a will that refused to submit.

“So, you intend to persist to the end, even if we kill you?”

Tarute did not respond, and kept his eyes fixed on him.

Luo’er shrugged, put the pistol back into the holster, and turned around to stroll aimlessly.

Suddenly, his gaze was captivated by a large photo hanging on the wall.

The photo was of a man and two women, the man was indeed Tarute, the women should be his wife and daughter.

He stepped forward, touched the material of the photo, it was covered with a layer of transparent film, he could assume that this was a picture printed using Earth’s printing technology.

“What are you planning to do?” Seeing Luo’er’s attention on the photo, Tarute obviously became excited.

Despite the loss of use of his legs, he struggled to try to get up, but he was quickly restrained by Cheng Ziang.

Luo’er turned his head, seeing him now, a triumphant smile appeared on his face, as if he unintentionally found this guy’s weakness.

“These are your wife and daughter right?

They are really beautiful.” Luo’er looked up at the photo and deliberately said to him.

“You’re not allowed to lay a finger on them!” Tarute, raging with fury, tried to get up, but was firmly pushed down on the table by Cheng Ziang.

“You might not be afraid to die, but it doesn’t mean they’re not.

Mr.

Tarute, do you really think they’re worth it for otherworlders?” Luo’er turned and said.

“I, I…” Tarute was panting, stammering, clearly beginning to compromise.

“Are they in this mansion too?” Luo’er tilted his head and looked at him bearing a cruel smile.

Seeing him, the fearless defiance in Tarute’s eyes began to dissolve, replaced by a fearful and anxious gaze.

“They’re not here, don’t worry.

They should attend your funeral, right?” Luo’er’s smile made Tarute feel even more terrified.

His tone was very calm, yet it carried an unspeakable cruelty.

“Mr.

Tarute, where did you take those weapons?

Tell us, then you can reunite with your wife and daughter.

We can also help you treat the wounds on your leg.” Luo’er pointed to Tangmo, “Let me tell you, that one is an exceptional genius mage.”
