Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 375 - 356: Being a Supportive Wife and Raising Children
Simon Forrester held Sienna Thornton in his arms, letting her rest her head on his chest. His hand on her shoulder gently caressed her arm, occasionally lowering his head to kiss her hair, and sometimes raising it to gaze at the vast stars in the distance with her.
"You don’t want to live a life of overcoming obstacles anymore, so what kind of life do you want to live? Hmm?"
Sienna turned around, snuggling into his embrace, and whispered, "I want to live a life of supporting a husband and teaching children."
Simon understood that she was just feeling momentarily down, leading to this retreating mindset. A life of supporting a husband and teaching children didn’t suit her, and she wouldn’t be content with it.
But Simon didn’t dampen her spirits, he simply went along with her, "Alright, no matter what kind of life you want to live, I will support you and stay with you. We will still follow our original plan to register our marriage on February 15th."
Unexpectedly, she remained silent.
His heart was instantly filled with anxiety, and he tightened his embrace around her, asking, "What’s wrong?"
She sighed, "Let’s talk about the marriage later. I don’t want to cause you any trouble in my current state."
"It’s precisely because the Sinclair Family is still spreading rumors everywhere that we should get married more urgently, and use the wedding to tell the world the truth..."
Before he could finish speaking, she flipped over, raised her face, and silenced him with a kiss.
"Our wedding shouldn’t be used to clarify certain matters."
She said this, and he didn’t insist further either.
At such a moment, no one would feel like getting married...
He dropped the topic of marriage and instead asked, "Aren’t you curious about how I found out that Dean Thorne is your father?"
He originally intended to take this opportunity to dispel her misunderstandings about Quentin Thorne, but as soon as he mentioned the three words "Dean Thorne," she covered his mouth with her hand in great agitation, "I don’t want to know, don’t say it!"
Saying this, she jumped off him, slipped into her slippers, and ran back inside the room.
He was stunned, thinking for a while but couldn’t figure it out, so he hurriedly followed her inside.
Seeing her lying on the bed, he stepped forward to hold her in his arms, gently calling her, "Candy? Are you okay?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"I’m fine. Before I have a talk with him, don’t say anything that might influence my judgment or give me a preconceived notion about him. Regarding the events of the past, I want to rely on what my mom told me for now." Her voice was calm and clear, resonating especially ethereal in the silence.
All along, she had been too independent and strong-willed. Although they had honestly communicated many things with each other and concealed nothing, concerning the issue with Quentin Thorne, he was guilty of hiding it from her first, so it wouldn’t be proper to interfere with her decision now.
She hadn’t been angry with him for hiding the matter about Quentin Thorne, so he should be smart and give her the space and confidence to handle this matter.
.
Since Sienna Thornton had left the police station, she hadn’t taken on any cases, and the law firm decided to keep her office, so she had nothing much to wrap up. The next day, she went to the office to take some personal items and left some managerial instructions to Rochelle Linwood before returning home.
Rhonda Wagner and Aurora Buckley were out due to a case, so she didn’t even have a chance to bid farewell to them, and had to leave Rochelle Linwood with instructions to arrange a meal with Rhonda Wagner and Aurora Buckley when possible.
Because her office stayed, and she didn’t hand over much, nor did she bring any large boxes of personal items home, therefore, she didn’t feel any nostalgia over leaving.
Back home, she first called the property management to inform them the hourly cleaner wouldn’t need to come for a while, and then started cleaning the house herself. She cooked some noodles for lunch, took a short nap, and continued cleaning the house. She washed the entire apartment, inside and out.
A little past four, she went downstairs to buy groceries, planning to make dinner at home so Simon Forrester could have a hot meal when he returned. However, just when she was almost heading back upstairs, Rochelle Linwood called, saying several colleagues from the law firm wanted to have a farewell dinner for her that night, asking if she had the time.
Already feeling slightly sentimental from laboring alone all day, the sudden wave of emotion hit Sienna Thornton, making her throat choke up. Looking at the groceries in her hand, she impulsively invited her colleagues from the law firm to dine at her home.
After sending the address, she turned back to the fresh food market, bought plenty of ingredients for a hot pot and side dishes, and hurried back home to start preparing small dishes and hot pot. She was so busy that when Simon Forrester returned home, she didn’t even notice.
"Are we having guests tonight?" Simon Forrester pushed open the kitchen sliding door and tugged at the tie around his neck, "I saw several pairs of guest slippers at the entrance."
Sienna Thornton was frying steak in the pan, she didn’t turn around and simply called over her shoulder, "Yes, Rhonda and Aurora are coming for dinner."
After saying this, she paused the hand turning the steak.
After a while, when the steak was done, she turned off the heat and faced Simon Forrester, who was still standing outside the kitchen watching her busy herself, with an apologetic look, "Oh, I forgot you don’t like having people over... Sorry! I was busy with housework and lost track."
As she spoke, she reached for her phone in her apron pocket, "I’ll call them now and let them wait downstairs in the mall, we can just eat downstairs."
Before she could dial, Simon Forrester gently took the phone from her hand.
He put the phone back into her home pants pocket, then reached up to untie the apron behind her neck, "I don’t like having random people over, true, but they’re your friends and of course they’re welcome! Alright, let me handle the rest. You go prepare some fruit; the guests will be here soon."
Sienna Thornton, already overwhelmed with all the preparations—having neither prepared fruit nor tea—was both surprised and delighted by Simon Forrester’s words. She took off her Peppa Pig apron and handed it to him, quickly went off to tend to other preparations.
Simon Forrester finished the steak Sienna Thornton hadn’t, and was about to slice the grilled eel for plating when the doorbell rang in the entranceway.
"Candy, the guests are here." He called out, and hearing continuous doorbell ringing but not seeing Sienna Thornton, he thought she might be changing clothes or washing fruit in the back sunroom, so he went to release the door lock directly.
The property management of this apartment was intelligent, and the security was located outside the elevator on the first floor. Guests needed to receive authorization from the owner to take the elevator, and once in, it directly led to the authorized floor.
Simon Forrester waited by the door for a while, and soon he heard the elevator door open, followed by the sound of high heels clattering on the floor and some male and female chatter and laughter.
He adjusted the smile on his face and opened the door to welcome the guests.
Leading the way was Rochelle Linwood. She stopped in her tracks upon seeing the professionally dressed Simon Forrester in a white shirt and black trousers, yet incongruously wearing a Peppa Pig apron, and after a few seconds, she held back her laughter and said to the colleagues behind, "We’re in for a treat tonight. The future chairman of the Forrester Group is personally cooking for us!"
