Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 565 : Tool Of War
"Do calm down, you look like a fish out of water" speaking with both arms behind his back, the leader of the caste in charge of researching and inventing gunpowder and all sorts of mechanical machineries, looked ahead as an enormous mass of steel was being wheeled toward the emerald-green portal.
"You're one to speak, Gharl, I can see that you're excited for it too!" the second speaker was a slightly smaller undead, both her and Gharl were dressed in the same manner, a long, leather-like dark trench coat that really made them stand out.
They looked alike as they were both ghouls, only that whilst Gharl looked very much monstrous with his pale bone-like flesh, countless sharp teeth growing upwardly and lack of eyeballs, Tiloh, his trusty right hand, looked rather human with rosy skin, and head full of hair, and actual eyes in her sockets.
Still, she sported the same maw full of overgrowing, sharp fangs that were always ready to tear into living flesh.
"We worked hard to make it as powerful as possible" she stated proudly.
"Yes, but do remember that its power will be drastically reduced on the other side of that portal, at least by half I would guess" he responded "Actually, it is likely to reach only a quarter of its true power… And that's only taking into account the death-rejecting environment and life-filled air, other aspects contributing to its power may be different in that realm"
"You are a real party pooper, Gharl, can't a girl enjoy the thought of large scale destruction in peace?"

"Well, I do need to cull your expectations, you get way too invested in your projects"
The two ghouls went back and forth as the object was still being pushed toward the passage, carried upon six large wheels forged out of heavy steel, being pushed by three large undead golems.
The thing upon these wheels was shaped like an arrowhead, its outer layer was made of thick, dense heavy metal, its special properties preventing the dangerously volatile contenants from activating at any inopportune time, a black rope of some kind was coming out of its back, where the body of an arrowhead would typical end up in.
The shape was no mistake, Tiloh had created this object to be fired by giant archers or from large ballistas, the overall design for the rest of it wasn't quite finished just yet, but the most important part was right here.
Stopping a distance away from the portal, all three golems began pulling upon the black rope after making the wheels were stuck in place, the arrowhead beginning to be dragged against two strings, harder and harder, until the distinct sound of something clicking was heard indicating that the limit had been reached.
In the next second, they let go, and the invention was launched directly through the portal, vanishing from sight.
"By the way, what did you want to call this thing?"
"I was thinking that this sort of weapon could be called a 'warhead', has a nice ring to it- I do hope no other caste has already come up with it…"
On the other side, Ioleznta's pupils and scleras froze in the shape of triangles, eyebrows bending into a slight frown as brought both palms together, hands held in a horizontal fashing, sliding away from one another to reveal a small wisps of emerald light shape into a sphere.
An incredibly condensed sphere.
"Do be careful not to trip" she announced with a light smile but little humour was to be found in her tone.
The wisps expanded into a flash of emerald, right as the warhead emerged into the realm, breaking through the wall and embedding itself into the ground, the lusterless black metal turning an incandescent white in the blink of an eye, emitting a wide blast of pure heat alongside as sizable amount of death force that had been trapped within inside of fragile core only held together by the complex mechanism within.
As Gharl had predicted, the radius of the explosion was much lesser than it had been during the initial tests, but still, the total blast expanded nearly one hundred meter from the epicenter in every direction, leaving a wide sphere of nothingness as everything within was scorched into nothingness by naught but pure heat generated without the usage of magic or any of such means.
Normally, it was supposed to render a five hundred meter area to ruins, but the warhead was built using some of the empire's finest materials, which implied that they contained death force, nothing lesser could be used to make this weapon stable, so it had lost much of its potency upon entering this realm.
The same went for the two cores packed with death, meant to turn the devastated area into a thriving zone of undeath in mere moments, had just resulted in a firework of spirit life, failing to take hold.
Which simply ended up reversing the truest purpose of the warhead, its power was no joke, but the second stage of spreading death force was the most important part as the purpose was to counteract the issues of slowness in the empire's expansion by forcefully creating areas teeming with death within life-owned areas.
Unfortunately, Tiloh had been using ambient death force to fuel these cores, the spirit life was ripe for the taking without a shred of ill-intent lingering within any of it.
Before this appalling and foul destruction, the emerald sun visibly moved as if intently staring at the crater, casting a cone of light so great that the area was drowned in emerald shine, taking hold of all that spirit life and using it to repair the damage done to the land.
Earth manifested to fill the gap, the small hill was back within a few minutes, the tall, bright blue grass in even less time, the intense heat left behind dissipated.
The small building built by Liebeln, the talent holder in architecture could not be brought back in the same manner, which was a shame, as it was a real little gem of genius, the construct aiding in maintaining the illusion cast by the sun worshippers.
It was rather saddening to see such fine work squandered like that, reduced to empty space by a dreadfully powerful explosive.
The sun moved from side to side, such expressiveness wasn't exactly common, eventually returning to normal, although, this level of directness and swiftness to take action left a clear idea of what the kind star thought of the undead invasion.
It took a few more days for something else to happen, having probably been waiting for the effects of the bomb to wear off- The soldiers in white emerged again, this time under the brilliant light that gave this realm its name.
"Glory! We shall die fighting for glory!"
