Marine Headquarters.
After hanging up, Sengoku’s face turned serious. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
*Knock knock knock*
"Come in!"
The office door opened. Vice Admiral Tsuru and Garp walked in. From the look on their faces, it was clear they already knew what had happened.
"Sengoku!"
"What happened today is definitely the Dream Exploration Team fighting back against Sakazuki’s bounty on them!"
"And they struck right at the heart of the issue!"
"They know Sakazuki only became Fleet Admiral because he has the support of the Five Elders. They also know the World Government is made up of royalty from different nations."
"This time, Sakazuki targeted the royal family of the Magiatzka Kingdom, which is sure to anger both the World Government and the Five Elders."
"For someone who just became the Fleet Admiral, this blow is huge. If he loses the support of the Five Elders, even the upcoming worldwide Marine draft might run into problems!"
As soon as Vice Admiral Tsuru sat down, she laid out her thoughts.
Garp didn’t say anything, but his face was just as serious.
"Sakazuki acted too rashly. He shouldn’t have shown hostility toward the Dream Team so soon. They’re not just some random group..." Sengoku said in a low voice, a hint of worry and helplessness in his tone.
Even though Akainu wasn’t the Fleet Admiral they had supported, the decision had already been made, and they couldn’t change it now.
So they wouldn’t try to hold Akainu back just because of past disagreements.
Otherwise, it would only hurt the Marines themselves and cause more harm than good.
"There’s one more thing—Kuzan also left, but no one knows what he’s up to..." Garp said calmly.
As soon as Garp finished speaking, both Sengoku and Vice Admiral Tsuru turned to look at him, their eyes showing a strange expression.
Facing their doubtful stares, Garp snapped a little, "Damn it! I really don’t know this time! But he also headed toward the New World. Could it be related to what happened today?"
Hearing that, Sengoku and Tsuru finally believed that Garp truly didn’t know. They pulled back their suspicious gazes.
"The only thing we can be sure of right now is that the World Government definitely didn’t approve Sakazuki’s actions. Sengoku, did he leave any message before he left?" Tsuru looked over and asked.
Sengoku straightened up and said, "To make sure the Five Elders wouldn’t get wind of this, Sakazuki didn’t even take a Den Den Mushi with him. He just left. He said his sense of justice shouldn’t be questioned by anyone."
"Sigh... looks like after this, there’ll be a clear crack between the Five Elders and Sakazuki..." Tsuru said with a bit of helplessness.
After she spoke, all three of them fell silent.
They all knew that no matter what choice Akainu made in this situation, the Dream Exploration Group had already won.
If Akainu acted, he’d lose the trust of the Five Elders. If he didn’t, then the justice he always stood for would be doubted by everyone, even within the Marines.
"That bastard Sakazuki, why did he have to mess with Ryuen, that reckless lunatic?!" Sengoku said angrily.
Tsuru and Garp both looked a bit helpless.
Mary Geoise, Pangaea Castle – the Room of Authority.
The Five Elders had also seen the news in today’s paper. Their faces stayed calm, as if this event had no effect on them at all.
"We can’t reach Sakazuki. Looks like he’s going with the ’act first, report later’ approach," Saint Shepherd Ju Peter said casually.
"Seems like... we misjudged him a bit before. Sakazuki may be easy to control because of his flaws, but... those flaws also make it easy for others to use him," Saint Topman Warcury added, his expression growing more serious.
"Even though we don’t really care about the opinions of those so-called royals, the current World Government still depends on them to some extent."
"Send in CP0. Have them assassinate the royal family of the Magiatzka Kingdom," Saint Marcus Mars suggested.
"That way, we can stop people from questioning Sakazuki’s sense of justice, and shut up some others early. It’ll make things easier for us."
...
The room went quiet for a few seconds.
"I agree."
"Same here. It’s a good idea."
"Agreed."
"I’m on board too."
The Five Elders quickly came up with a plan to handle the situation. A command was sent out immediately from the Room of Authority. In Mary Geoise, several masked men set out toward the New World.
Their mission was to kill the royal family of the Magiatzka Kingdom before Akainu got there.
...
"Then... what should our response be to Sakazuki?" Saint Saturn asked.
"The global Marine draft this time... let’s cut the budget in half. It’ll also teach Sakazuki a lesson," suggested Financial God of War, Ethanbaron V. Saint Nusjuro.
"Let’s go with that."
The other four old men agreed with Saint Nusjuro’s suggestion.
The Five Elders acted quickly, and the order was immediately sent to Marine HQ.
And so, the global Marine draft was now in full swing — but suddenly, the number of available spots was cut in half!
Marine Headquarters.
Akainu wasn’t around, so Vice Admiral Tsuru was handling everything.
She had already received the notification from the World Government. Although she had expected something like this, she didn’t think the Five Elders’ order would come so fast.
"The Five Elders are really cruel... just slashing the military budget in half..." Kizaru complained bitterly.
He had given up on promotions, but he was still hoping for a raise. Especially with this global Marine draft, he thought it was the perfect chance for that raise.
Now that the Five Elders had cut the budget in half, it looked like that hope was crushed again.
New World.
Akainu stood at the bow of his warship, arms crossed, looking stern.
The atmosphere on the ship was tense. No one dared to get too close to Akainu. Everyone knew he was in a terrible mood, and no one wanted to risk making it worse.
Just then, a rock dropped from the sky.
Akainu reached out and caught it. He quickly noticed there was a note tied to it.
Akainu looked up and saw a bird flying off in the distance.
"What a troublesome ability..." he muttered, then opened the note to read what it said.
"The Five Elders have already sent CP0 to the Kingdom of Magiatzka. They plan to assassinate the royal family before you arrive! Dear Fleet Admiral Akainu, you’re not seriously going to let someone else handle this, are you? Really? You’re the great Fleet Admiral of the Marines, aren’t you?"
After reading it, Akainu’s hand turned into magma, and the note instantly burned to ash.
"Speed up the ship!" Akainu said in a deep, angry voice, trying to keep his rage under control.
"Yes, sir!"
"Fleet Admiral Sakazuki!" the nearby sailors immediately responded.
