Players Invade Cyberpunk-Chapter 813 - 262: Siege of Horizon Corporation (Part 3)
"Kill Horizon Corporation."
"Kill Horizon Corporation?"
Everyone laughed when they heard that.
"If it were that simple, would we still be sitting here talking to you?"
Morton: "What does Horizon Corporation have to do with you? Do you have a grudge against them?"
"You belong to the Cleaners."
Ogata Wako pushed her glasses up.
"Am I right, Mr. Benjamin?"
"You are an elegant and witty lady. If I have the chance, I would like to dine with you alone."
Benjamin openly admitted his identity, although he remotely controlled the entire Cleaner organization through Soviet agents, rarely appearing before others.
"Cleaners?"
Morton chuckled in anger; who in Night City respects this hyena gang?
Not to mention the Cleaners were beaten badly, even their largest stronghold in Dog Town was brazenly taken.
"I thought you were already slaughtered by those mercenaries, like dogs, and I've never heard of Cleaners having a boss."
He slapped the table, and all the bodyguards in the room took a step forward, everyone was nearing the limit of their patience with this unexpected guest.
Just as they were about to make a move, the sound of hard leather shoes walking came suddenly from the stove area in the back.
Someone else was there.
When they saw the two people walking out, a few bosses were momentarily stunned, then suddenly remembered something, and stood up from their chairs in a hurry, ready to flee.
The two, a man and a woman, dressed similarly, with jet-black pupils, neat black and white striped suits, each holding a silver large-caliber custom revolver in their leather-gloved hands.
They didn't speak, but the prison-like murderous aura scared the thugs present, not daring to move.
The most familiar with their identities was Francisco, influenced by Mexican culture.
He stiffly stood up from the television.
"A...Aguirre...my God."
The Cleaners have collaborated with the Cuba Drug Trafficking Group...
No.
Soviet Petrochemical has collaborated with the Cuba Drug Trafficking Group.
They want Lin Miao dead, even deploying Aguirre, a legend in the assassination world.
While shocked, there was a hint of dark joy; at least the target wasn't him.
"You've all been caught in a misunderstanding before."
Benjamin said.
"You think Horizon Corporation is like other companies, with their core assets being those armed mercenaries and fixed assets, so you try to assassinate mercenaries, bomb buildings, besiege offices..."
Isn't that right?
Thinking of this, several gang bosses felt speechless.
Horizon Corporation's structure is different from other companies; it only has the executioners below and Lin Miao above for decision-making, with no middle management.
Try to bribe, but there's no one to approach.
Try to steal secrets, but the workers aren't exposed to any tier that holds anything valuable, and an inside mole besides working for Lin Miao accomplishes nothing.
Their hacker skills are at sky-high levels, coupled with omnipresent surveillance systems and doorframe robots, infiltration is just a fantasy.
As for the workers at the bottom, when did companies ever value their lives?
"So you all are foolish."
Benjamin was indifferent to their opinion of him.
"His property, beyond those, the most important assets are Horizon Corporation's reputation and the sentiment of the people. Those mercenaries may have no moral bounds, but Horizon Corporation does."
"From today, anyone who dares work for Horizon Corporation, kill them, drivers, garbage workers, doctors, workers - treat them all the same, bomb Horizon Corporation's garbage trucks and ERO's ambulances if they dare to hit the streets, daily remote rocket strikes on their factories outside the city, and attack their convoys transporting from Big Sur to Night City to shut down all Lin Miao's industries, let's see how long he can hold out."
Can't beat the mercenaries, can you beat a bunch of workers?
"Once he sends all his people out, diluting his forces, what threat remains from Horizon Corporation and Lin Miao?"
"With just us?"
Shiro Ishiguro looked at the two Aguirre behind Benjamin, playing with their guns.
He didn't want Tiger Claw Gang risking their lives upfront, while the Cleaners and Cubans reap the benefits.
Also, last time's Night Wanderer attack attracted Horizon Corporation's attention, and still failed to win.
"Me?"
Benjamin smiled.
"Certainly not, Colonel Hanssen will help."
Dog Town is the only place in Night City where heavy weapons aren't banned, Netherworld Dog has plenty of big toys, while Horizon Corporation lacks Netherworld Dog's channels to transport this heavy equipment, making Netherworld Dog's advantage substantially huge.
"As for Lin Miao himself, the Havana cigars are already lit, you just need to wait to attend his funeral."
Their stiff expressions gradually relaxed, glances of delight flashed amongst them.
Clearly, this was an entire Night City's grey forces besieging Horizon Corporation, backed by shadows of large companies.
Now, the only concern was whether Kangtao and Militech would step in.
It was as if Benjamin could see right through them.
"If Militech and Kangtao want to step in, someone will naturally entertain them when the time comes."
Soviet Petrochemical's Far East troops have already gathered in Vladivostok, Kangtao personnel if smart would know what that means.
And naturally, Arasaka will deal with the military tech, not even a concern for gangs.
The Cubans came with not just two top assassins, but an entire action squad as well.
Such a large-scale siege hasn't happened in Night City for years, even Johnny Silverhand's trio of teams attacking Huangban Tower back in the day couldn't measure up to this.
"Achoo."
Lin Miao at the office computer sneezed.
"Who's talking about me behind my back?"
The third floor of the office, after being bombed, Lin Miao didn't bother to renovate again, considering there might be a second or third round, wasting time and money, tidying up with a table and glass would suffice.
"Alright, let's do it this way."
Lin Miao finalized his plan; he intends to publicly repurchase all properties in Taiping Continent online with prices at 60% of the auction value back then, practically a steal, normally companies wouldn't even consider selling despite it sitting idle.
But Lin Miao has ways to make them sign, and eventually, the acquisition price will drop even further.
After finishing his work, looking around at the chaotic walls, he thought again of the several assassination attempts he's encountered recently on the streets.
Although he's confident to survive, it's not sustainable.
"Indeed, having V as a personal bodyguard would be better; having someone so capable loitering about is such a waste."
"Just wondering if the people behind won't trouble me over this..."
