Plunder-Chapter 300: It Turns Out Qiao En is His Daughter
"Where are you?"
Not far after the Maybach had left, Zhou Jin’an called Qiao En.
When leaving the cemetery, he had asked the driver to depart half an hour later.
"We’ll be there in about ten minutes."
Qiao En said.
"En’en, listen to me, don’t rush back just yet, I’m coming over to meet up with you, we’re going to stay in a hotel tonight."
Mrs. Zhou was causing a scene, and Zhou Jin’an didn’t want her to involve Qiao En and the child.
"Why should we stay at a hotel?"
Qiao En was somewhat surprised.
Zhou Jin’an let out a long sigh, "It’s a long story, just don’t go home for now, I’ll send you the hotel’s location. We’ll meet at the hotel in a bit."
Zhou Jin’an said.
After hanging up, he sent the hotel’s location to Qiao En’s phone.
Although Qiao En was puzzled by Zhou Jin’an’s actions, she chose to respect and understand him.
"Xiao Dan, let’s go to the hotel."
After mentioning the hotel’s location, the car turned around and headed straight for the hotel.
Auntie Jiang suddenly spoke up, "I’m not going to the hotel, I want to go home."
"Mom, let’s first go meet up with Jin’an at the hotel, okay?"
Qiao En gently persuaded.
But Auntie Jiang was uncharacteristically obstinate, "No, I want to go home."
Sister Rong really couldn’t bear it, "Young Madam, let Auntie Jiang go home. She’s exhausted herself these past few days. Later, I’ll accompany Auntie Jiang inside, and Xiao Dan can take you and the child to the hotel."
Qiao En, feeling sorry, said, "Okay."
The car still headed towards Chu Garden.
Unexpectedly, Mrs. Zhou did not leave.
Zhou Jin’an didn’t allow her to enter Chu Garden’s gate, so she sat down right at the entrance.
It was the first time Qiao En had seen Mrs. Zhou in such a disheveled state.
She had been fastidious all her life, even in times of destitution, she had always cared greatly about her image and manners.
But now, she was sitting at the gate entrance with her legs crossed like compasses, in a manner so graceless that it was heart-wrenching to watch. The wind lifted the messy strands of hair on her forehead, eliciting pity.
"Why is the old madam sitting on the ground?"
Sister Rong also saw it, and she was greatly surprised.
Auntie Jiang, from beginning to end, did not lift her head to glance outside.
The car pulled up at the entrance of Chu Garden, and as soon as Auntie Jiang opened the door, she stepped out, with Sister Rong quickly following.
"Auntie Jiang, slow down, let me help you."
Qiao En, holding the child, sat in the car. She did not get out.
Mrs. Zhou didn’t see her, but she noticed Auntie Jiang and Sister Rong.
"Sister Rong, where are you all going?"
Mrs. Zhou tried to stand up using one hand for support but couldn’t muster the strength. Aunt Liu quickly came to help her.
However, as Aunt Liu helped Mrs. Zhou to stand up straight, Mrs. Zhou suddenly pushed her away.
Sister Rong awkwardly smiled, "Old Madam, we just went out for a walk."
But Mrs. Zhou’s gaze was sharp. She noticed the black clothes of Sister Rong and Auntie Jiang immediately, and it made her think of certain matters.
"No, you’re lying to me. You didn’t just go out for a walk, you went to a funeral. Whose funeral was it?"
Sister Rong remained silent, but Auntie Jiang spoke up.
"There’s no need to tell you."
She retorted coldly, then continued on her way.
Mrs. Zhou prided herself on her haughtiness and couldn’t stand it when someone seemed disdainful in her presence.
Especially after waking up from a year of unconsciousness to find everything had changed.
Zhou Jin’an had married Qiao En, whom she disliked, and they even had a child together.
The rice was cooked into a porridge, and she had no choice but to begrudgingly accept it.
But what she couldn’t accept most was Zhou Jin’an’s closeness to Auntie Jiang, his calling her "Mom" was a huge blow to her.
"This is my son’s house, you have no right to live here."
She stood at the gate’s entrance, glaring at Auntie Jiang menacingly.
Two women, both over fifty, both having endured life’s vicissitudes and suffered through hardships, stared each other down.
Auntie Jiang appeared calm on the outside, but inside, she was seething with anger. She suddenly pushed Mrs. Zhou away, not expecting that in that moment, the picture frame she was holding would fall to the ground.
It was Zheng Gang’s obituary photo.
"What relation are you to him?"
Mrs. Zhou immediately noticed the photo and even recognized the person in it.
She looked at Auntie Jiang in disbelief, her trembling finger as if she wanted to poke Auntie Jiang’s eyes out.
"It has nothing to do with you."
Auntie Jiang’s tone was still indifferent, as she bent down to pick up the photo, gently wiped it off, and then pressed it against her chest.
Sister Rong opened the gate, and Auntie Jiang slowly walked inside.
Then, the gate closed again.
"Madam, let’s go back," Aunt Liu suggested after receiving a slap, which made her very cautious, but now, she still went to Mrs. Zhou’s side to persuade her.
"What exactly is the relationship between that Zheng Gang and her?" Mrs. Zhou wanted to verify.
Aunt Liu hung her head, "I don’t know."
"You don’t know? How can you not know? Their relationship is definitely not ordinary. Go and check, where is Zheng Gang buried now?"
Mrs. Zhou wanted to know, and Aunt Liu had no choice but to instruct someone to look into it.
No sooner had the two of them returned home than they received a message.
"Are you saying Zheng Gang is that woman’s ex-husband?" Mrs. Zhou asked.
"Not exactly an ex-husband, since they didn’t have a marriage certificate. At most, he was an old flame," Aunt Liu replied truthfully.
Mrs. Zhou leaned on the sofa without speaking, but her mind spun rapidly, "Does he have any relationship with Qiao En?"
Aunt Liu was stunned, "This... I genuinely don’t know."
"Useless, all of you are useless, can’t even investigate such a trivial matter."
Mrs. Zhou grabbed a cup from the table and furiously smashed it to the ground.
Immediately, glass shards splattered everywhere.
"She must be their daughter, she must be," Mrs. Zhou muttered to herself.
Her head began to throb painfully, and she curled up on the sofa with both hands clutching at her head.
"Madam, take some medicine."
Aunt Liu hurried to pour her water and handed her the medication.
Mrs. Zhou grabbed the medicine and stuffed it into her mouth.
About a quarter of an hour later, her emotions finally calmed down.
"Let’s go, we’re going to take a look at Zheng Gang’s grave."
"Madam, it’s better not to go. That kind of place is unlucky, and it is not auspicious for someone as distinguished as you to get contaminated with misfortune," Aunt Liu tried to stop her.
But Mrs. Zhou had made up her mind and did not want to change it, "I don’t believe in that nonsense."
Aunt Liu had no choice but to arrange the vehicle and take Mrs. Zhou to the cemetery.
Zheng Gang’s tombstone, amid a solemn group of steles, seemed particularly conspicuous. Mrs. Zhou finally reached it with the support of Aunt Liu.
There on the tombstone was a photo of Zheng Gang smiling.
Seeing it, Mrs. Zhou grabbed a handful of mud and viciously smeared it across the picture.
"I make you smile, make you smile! People like you should die early," she cursed.
"Madam, this should not be done. The living should not quarrel with the dead," Aunt Liu grasped Mrs. Zhou’s arm, trying to stop her from her actions.
Mrs. Zhou glanced and suddenly noticed the words on the tombstone.
Wife: Jiang Caiyun.
Daughter: Qiao En.
Upon seeing this, Mrs. Zhou had an epiphany.
"What a coincidence, Qiao En is actually that person’s daughter!"
There was a gleam in her eye, it was hard to say whether it was surprise or shock.
The person who framed her was Ding Yongsheng, but it was Zheng Gang who had publicly identified her in front of everyone. Therefore, in Mrs. Zhou’s heart, the worst villain was not Ding Yongsheng, but Zheng Gang who had wronged her.
She despised Zheng Gang, hated him to the bone.
However, what she had never expected was that Qiao En was Zheng Gang’s daughter.
She was still Zhou Jin’an’s wife, Mrs. Zhou’s daughter-in-law.
"Fate, this is fate ah!"
She laughed uproariously to the sky.
"Madam, let’s go back. This place isn’t suitable to stay for long," Aunt Liu advised again.
This time, Mrs. Zhou obediently placed her hand on Aunt Liu’s arm and walked down the steps step by step.
"As I thought, how could she marry into our Zhou family? My son is so outstanding; he would never marry and have children with a woman like her," Mrs. Zhou mumbled.
But at the same time, a resolute and wicked idea was already surfacing in her mind.
