Plunder-Chapter 301: Wearing a Green Hat
"Bring Shan Ning to me."
Mrs. Zhou instructed.
Aunt Liu, not understanding why but without further questions, did as Mrs. Zhou had said and immediately called for Shan Ning.
"Madam."
Shan Ning appeared, standing in front of Mrs. Zhou with utmost respect.
Mrs. Zhou leaned on the sofa, sizing up Shan Ning with a sidelong glance.
"How are you doing working for Director Zhou?"
Trembling with fear, Shan Ning immediately bent her waist, "Thanks to Madam’s guidance, I had the opportunity to drive for Director Zhou. Rest assured, I will do my utmost to serve Director Zhou."
"You are serving me."
Mrs. Zhou suddenly raised her voice, sharply reprimanding.
Shan Ning remained silent, her head bowed low.
"Shan Ning, don’t forget, I’m the one who paid for your university fees, and I arranged your job after graduation. Without my support, you would still be carrying bricks at that dilapidated construction site. So don’t forget, I am your benefactor."
"I will never forget Madam’s kindness," Shan Ning replied, shivering as she stood there.
Mrs. Zhou sighed deeply, "So, who are you doing your utmost for?"
"For Madam."
Shan Ning said the words Mrs. Zhou most wanted to hear.
She was very pleased and approached Shan Ning.
He wasn’t tall, even somewhat short and slight, his slender shoulders appearing to bear much pressure.
"Aunt Liu, bring me that check."
Mrs. Zhou commanded.
Aunt Liu hurriedly complied, handing over the check Mrs. Zhou had written.
Mrs. Zhou took it between two fingers and then handed it to Shan Ning.
"I heard your mother is sick and needs surgery, take this at once."
Shan Ning was shocked.
Suddenly looking up at Mrs. Zhou, he kept waving his hands, "Madam, this is too much. You’ve already done a lot for me. This time, I’ll find a way by myself."
"What can you possibly think of? If you had a way, would your mother’s surgery have been delayed to now? Shan Ning, have you forgotten what I taught you? A wise man submits to the times. If I am willing to help you, you should joyfully accept it, and when I need help, you should also help me with all your heart and effort."
After speaking, she stuffed the check into Shan Ning’s pocket, "Are you willing to help me?"
Shan Ning was overwhelmed by the favor, but his face showed conflict.
"Madam, what do you need me to help you with?"
Shan Ning looked towards Mrs. Zhou with trepidation.
She smiled slightly, "Just a trifle, something very small for you, but for Director Zhou and me, it’s of utmost importance."
"I am willing to share Madam’s and Director Zhou’s worries."
Shan Ning made his intentions clear.
Mrs. Zhou was very pleased. She patted Shan Ning’s shoulder, "Good boy, these years of my fondness for you have not been in vain. Don’t worry, I will hire the best doctor for your mother; she will surely be safe and sound."
That night, Qiao En did not go to the hotel after all.
She was simply too worried about Auntie Jiang.
Zhou Jin’an had arranged a hotel but did not check in; he hurried back to Chu Garden.
The death of Zheng Gang dropped a pebble, neither light nor heavy, into everyone’s heart.
Before eight in the evening, Chu Garden fell into a gloom it had never known before.
Zhou Jin’an was busy working in the study.
Qiao En went to visit Auntie Jiang’s room with the child.
She looked very desolate, and only when Qiao En placed the child into her arms did her face show a trace of vitality.
"Mom, you still have me, and Nian’en too, you must stay strong."
Auntie Jiang had red-rimmed eyes.
"I want to go to Gu Yuan tomorrow."
She said with a choked voice.
Gu Yuan was where she and Zheng Gang first met, and Qiao En understood Auntie Jiang’s feelings.
"Okay, I’ll take you there in the morning."
"There’s no need."
"Mom, I’m your daughter, you don’t need to be polite with me. Get some rest, I’ll take you early tomorrow."
The next day, Zhou Jin’an had a meeting and went to work early.
Sister Rong prepared a rich breakfast, but Auntie Jiang had no appetite and only ate a few bites. No matter how much Qiao En persuaded, she wouldn’t eat any more.
"Let’s go, I want to return early."
Auntie Jiang urged.
Qiao En called over Shan Ning, "Arrange two cars, we’re going out in a bit."
"Yes, Young Madam," Shan Ning quickly complied.
Qiao En handed the child to Sister Rong and set off with Auntie Jiang.
Traveling from Rong City back to Gu Yuan was a long journey. Qiao En accompanied her until the fork in the road, where she then disembarked.
"Mom, be sure to send me a message once you’re home."
She cautioned.
Auntie Jiang looked at Qiao En with a complex expression, "Mm, okay."
She agreed.
Another car took Auntie Jiang directly back to Gu Yuan’s home, while Qiao En took Shan Ning’s car back to Chu Garden.
However, halfway through the trip, the car suddenly broke down.
"Young Madam, please rest for a moment, I will go fix the car."
Shan Ning quickly got out of the car, brought the toolbox, and opened the hood of the engine.
"Young Madam, are you thirsty? Have some water."
Shan Ning opened a bottle of mineral water and handed it to Qiao En.
She wasn’t thirsty, but she symbolically took a sip.
But it was after drinking that sip of water, that she leaned against the back of the seat and fell into a confused sleep.
What happened afterwards, Qiao En had no idea.
Nanchen conference room.
Zhou Jin’an was presiding over the company’s monthly senior management meeting.
However, halfway through the meeting, the secretary rushed in with a panicked expression.
"Director Zhou, something terrible has happened."
He handed his phone to Zhou Jin’an, who only took one look at it before his face turned black with anger.
Someone had posted a thread online, all the pictures were of Qiao En.
The title was: "Nanchen’s delicate wife has a wild affair with the president’s driver."
The accompanying pictures showed Qiao En disheveled and entangled with Shan Ning.
"Contact the PR department for emergency handling."
Zhou Jin’an immediately ordered.
"The PR department is already handling it, but the heat of this post is just too high, Director Zhou, I’m afraid..."
The secretary looked troubled.
Zhou Jin’an yanked off his tie with one hand, "whoosh" he stood up and quickly headed for the door.
"Director Zhou, where are you going?"
The secretary followed.
Zhou Jin’an didn’t say a word, he strode into the elevator.
His blood boiled at that moment as he dialed Qiao En’s phone number, but her cell phone indicated that it was turned off; he then called Shan Ning’s phone, which was also off.
Zhou Jin’an was furious and violently threw his phone away.
His unvented anger raged like a flood.
Unable to reach either of them, Zhou Jin’an drove straight to Chu Garden.
"Young Master, why have you come back?"
Sister Rong, holding a child, asked with a puzzled face.
"Where is Young Madam?"
Zhou Jin’an asked with a gloomy face.
Sister Rong pointed at the second-floor bedroom, "Young Madam is upstairs resting!"
"And Shan Ning?" Zhou Jin’an asked again.
"After bringing Young Madam back, he went out. I’ll call him."
As Sister Rong spoke, she called Shan Ning.
"This darn kid, why is his phone still off?" Sister Rong complained.
Zhou Jin’an’s anger flared up more and more.
"Find Shan Ning at all costs."
Zhou Jin’an commanded. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Then, he strode toward the bedroom on the second floor.
Half an hour earlier, one minute before that post was uploaded, Shan Ning drove the sleeping Qiao En back.
He told Sister Rong that Qiao En had been sleeping the entire way; without thinking too much of it, Sister Rong helped the groggy Qiao En upstairs.
She was completely unaware of what had happened and was deeply asleep.
Zhou Jin’an forcefully pushed open the bedroom door; on the bed, Qiao En was deeply asleep under the covers.
Seeing the sleepy confusion on Qiao En’s face, he felt a mix of emotions.
Despite feeling angry, as he approached Qiao En, he treaded unusually lightly.
He intended to wake Qiao En, but after softly calling her a few times and getting no response, Zhou Jin’an couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He stood by the window, waiting for Qiao En to wake up.
The PR department had replied, all the posts had been deleted.
However, the negative impact caused by that post could not be erased from people’s memories.
Now, the whole of Rong City knew that his woman, Zhou Jin’an’s woman, had cuckolded him, and the man she had the affair with was his own driver.
It wasn’t until two o’clock in the afternoon that Qiao En finally woke up.
She opened her bleary eyes to the unexpected sight of Zhou Jin’an, tall and upright, standing by the bedside.
"Husband, didn’t you go to work? Why are you back?"
Qiao En asked, covering her mouth as she yawned lengthily.
