Chapter 578: Splitting Waterfall

Seven Pokémon, including Gallade and Lucario, stood around the arena with their Trainers, each watching the arena with different emotions.

Terrance and Albus stood opposite each other, and both could see the interest in the other’s eyes. As for the remaining five, they were probably still completely in the dark.

Although the Trainers who had made it this far were certainly strong, compared to people like Terrance and Albus, they were essentially not in the same league.

Whether it was the Elite Four, the Top Coordinator, or various other individuals and forces observing Albus, they were all paying close attention to this battle.

"The battle begins!"

The battle begins!

As the words fell, the atmosphere instantly froze. Except for Terrance and Albus, the other five Trainers’ pupils shrank. In just two seconds, before the remaining five Pokémon could even react, Gallade and Lucario had taken coordinated action and completely crushed them!

"Whoa!"

As the five Fighting-type Pokémon in the arena were swiftly defeated, there was a commotion among the entire audience. This was not at all what they had originally expected.

It was supposed to be a situation where the five Pokémon joined forces to resist Gallade and Lucario. How did it turn into a scene where these two Pokémon finished them in the blink of an eye?!

"They’re... clearing the arena!"

With just a little thought and a glance at the expressions on Terrance and Albus’s faces, it wasn’t hard to figure out what they were thinking.

"The two of them don’t want anyone else interfering in their battle... In other words, in Gallade and Lucario’s eyes, any other Pokémon in the arena is an insignificant opponent..."

The way the two Pokémon casually eliminated the other opponents, followed by the scene of them facing off against each other, made quite a few people gulp.

Although it was different from what they’d imagined, this kind of situation... seemed even more exciting?

Lucario and Gallade appeared very calm. Outsiders couldn’t sense anything from their auras. This extreme stillness made Albus pause slightly.

"Your Gallade has improved a lot."

Half a year ago, while Gallade could restrain its aura, it was far less tranquil than it was now.

With his Aura power, his perception could detect even the subtlest of details. Although the change was very inconspicuous, Albus could see that Gallade had improved greatly.

After hearing Albus’s evaluation, Lucario concentrated, placed a hand on its chest, and gazed seriously at Gallade. Then, a blue, somewhat translucent wave radiated outward. Lucario had activated its Aura perception!

"It’s alright," Terrance spoke slowly.

Four months of training had indeed further improved Gallade’s psychic power. Although it couldn’t yet be directly demonstrated through Teleport, the change in Gallade’s aura made its progress evident.

And also...

Gallade’s progress wasn’t limited to just that.

Several people noticed the movements of Albus and Terrance’s mouths and felt confused. Was it a friendly greeting before the battle?

"They probably know each other, right?"

One person happened to have seen Albus and Terrance together before and began to speculate.

Albus’s identity was mysterious, his background unknown. Could it be that he actually knew Terrance?

At this moment, in the arena, only Gallade and Lucario remained.

Neither of the two Pokémon made the first move, creating an unusually tense atmosphere.

Gallade’s meditation method was running, using psychic power to sense the surroundings, aiming to catch an opening the moment Lucario attacked.

Lucario had the same idea. Aura power spread outward; just one small mistake from Gallade, and it would be ruthlessly defeated.

"Without Teleport, Gallade has no way to fight back." Watching Terrance’s solemn expression, Albus was momentarily taken aback before shaking his head.

The situation... had changed!

The first sign of change was the gentle breeze on the battlefield; the wind direction was blowing toward Gallade.

Next, Lucario noticed that Gallade, in its Iaido stance, had changed its posture!

Lucario, who had an idea of Gallade’s attack range and knew its own strength held the absolute advantage, seized this opportunity and suddenly dashed toward Gallade!

"..." Albus stood silently at the side, not using Aura power to communicate with Lucario.

Although he didn’t agree with Lucario charging out so recklessly, even he had to admit that just now was indeed a good opportunity.

But Albus... had a feeling it wouldn’t be so easy.

Would Terrance’s Gallade make such a rookie mistake? Even without the attack range of Iaido, it had to be hiding something else!

Lucario’s decision to attack was, in part, with Albus’s tacit approval.

Lucario’s strength far surpassed Gallade’s. Even though Albus held great regard for Terrance, it would be absurd to keep being this cautious.

"Lucario and I survived a life-and-death journey with hundreds of others!"

Albus focused his Aura, watching Gallade’s movements. Even if Terrance had a hidden trump card—so what? He didn’t believe Lucario would lose. He had absolute confidence.

The blue figure flashed by in an instant. Lucario held an Aura Sphere in the right hand, making it spin rapidly to its limit in its palm to enhance its piercing power, while remaining ready to deliver a fatal blow to Gallade at any moment.

"If that Aura Sphere even grazes Gallade, it’s an assured defeat," Wallace shook his head. Albus’s display of power as a Trainer during the festival had, of course, caught Wallace’s attention. He had been paying very close attention to this Lucario and had already assessed most of its capabilities.

Compared to Lucario, Gallade was strong, but still lagged by a tier or two.

That level of difference was nearly insurmountable for most Trainers.

Many people understood this, which was why they didn’t have much faith in Gallade.

But the moment that streak of light swept upward, they realized they were wrong.

Glacia, the Ice-type Elite Four who had been paying attention to Albus, was surprised by that upward strike. Compared to Iaido, the move looked extremely simple; just a plain upward slash, nothing special.

But that very move seemed to make these seasoned Top Coordinators and Trainers see a waterfall being split in two!

The upward slash was swift as light, arriving in an instant, which caused Lucario’s expression to change immediately. Lucario’s Aura power warned it that if it didn’t block it, Gallade’s blade would strike before its Aura could!

Boom!!

In the next instant, Lucario swiftly retracted its palm, slightly adjusting its aim, and the Aura Sphere collided with Gallade’s "Splitting Waterfall"!
