Chapter 146: Chapter 146 - Pulled down

Five minutes earlier, Muchen and his companions perched atop one of the warehouse shelves, their eyes wide with terror as they observed the growing horde of zombies below.

The guttural growls of the creatures reverberated through the vast space, attracting more undead from the shadows.

The once-secure warehouse had become a death trap, with shelves trembling under the relentless assault of the zombies’ combined strength.

Each creak and shudder of the metal racks sent waves of panic through the group.

The young girl clung to the edge, her knuckles white, tears streaming down her face. "I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die!" she whimpered, her voice barely audible over the cacophony below.

Shao, positioned between Muchen and Lu Zhi, tightened his grip on their shirts, ensuring none of them lost balance. His frustration was palpable as he muttered, "Wish we could shoot them down like in those zombie movies." But without firearms, such fantasies offered little solace.

Suddenly a huge bulky zombie moved close to their shelve pushing the other zombies out of the way.

"guys... this is bad..." lu zhi mumbled eyes wide in fear.

The bulky thing suddenly banged its whole body against the shelving.

A deafening crash sounded.

"what the hell is... ahhhhh!" Hana wobbled unsteadily her sweaty hands slipping slightly.

Qiu yue quickly grabbed a hold of her and hugged her close while Jiang hao wobbled but firmly griped the shelve.

The shelving steadied momentarily. Qiu Yue glanced down with his glasses tilting. "that thing is going to topple us.."

Just as he said that the bulky zombie rammed in again.

The whole shelf tilted violently as a zombie rammed its full weight against it.

Metal groaned. Boxes tumbled. The unstable structure lurched.

"hold on!!!" Shao gritted his teeth, tightening his grip on his best friend and brother. But the others— they weren’t as lucky.

The young girl, the one who had been sobbing nonstop, screamed. Her balance snapped.

"AHHHH!!! HELP! HELP ME!"

She dangled off the edge, her fingers clinging desperately to the cold steel. Below, zombies clawed and snapped at her legs, their bloodstained teeth eager to sink in. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

One zombie, a once-young woman, growled the loudest, eyes locked onto the girl’s dangling limbs. It lunged, fingers grazing her shin.

The girl sobbed loudly. "I don’t want to die..."

Muchen moved close.

"Muchen! Stop!" Shao tried to grab him but he was too fast.

"Here! Give me your other hand!" He crouched, reaching down, fingers stretching toward hers.

She hesitated—just for a second—then grabbed his hand.

"ill pull you up okay.. its going to be fine.." Muchen mumbled casting a soothing smile.

But suddenly her grip tightened.

"hiss... that’s a bit tight.. I’ve got you.. you...."

The young girls eyes darkened. "you.... You are the reason I’m in this.." she mumbled ever so softly.

Then—she yanked him down.

Muchen stumbled. Lost his footing. The world tilted.

He plummeted.

"MUCHEN!!!"

A surge of power ran through him and Muchen quickly felt a bolt as his body came to a halt right above the growling group of zombies. Panting he peered down at their wide open bloody mouth trembling slightly.

"its okay... I can do this..." he waved his hands in a swimming motion. This seems to propel his body upwards. He moved to the nearby shelve and hurriedly clung to the metal. His new found powers were still anew. He still hadn’t grasped on how it even works. So he didn’t wish to risk it.

Hana exhaled sharply, relief evident in her eyes. "Muchen, are you okay? You didn’t get scratched right..."

Muchen then gazed at the young school girl who was pulled down by the zombies. Her scream echoed in the empty warehouse making his heart tremble. "fuck...."

After having its share the bulky zombie once again gazed up at the other on the shelve. Its hueg body trembled violently as it slammed again and again.

The shelf beneath them trembled.

Muchen’s brow furrowed. "Hey!" he shouted, drawing the attention of several zombies who began shuffling toward his position.

"Muchen, stop that!" Shao yelled, panic lacing his voice.

"Shut up, Shao! That shelf won’t hold! This one will. It increases our chances of survival," Muchen retorted, banging on the metal to attract more undead. "Hey, you ugly fuggly man! I’m right here! Come and get me! Oh, I’m so delicious and tender! I even do skin care, so I bet I taste good!"

Shao clenched his fists. "This is not the time to joke around. You’re carrying a child!"

"Yes, I am! But I’m not a cripple! Stop treating me like one!" Muchen snapped, his hand instinctively resting on his abdomen. "This baby is strong. It will handle this... I know it."

He continued to shout, drawing the zombies closer. "As soon as they get close to me, I want you guys to make a run for the door. I’ll fly there."

Shao’s eyes darted around the chaotic warehouse. Reaching the exit directly was impossible. Instead, they needed to move between the shelves. He focused on the one behind them. "Everyone, I want you to jump to the next shelf. Hold on tight, and when this shelf topples, jump to the other one."

The zombies’ relentless assault intensified. With a final, forceful shove, they toppled the shelf. Everyone leaped. Hana barely managed, her fingers slipping. Qiu lunged, grabbing her arm. "Always the damsel in distress," he muttered, pulling her up.

She clung to his hospital coat, trembling. "Oh my god... my little heart can’t handle so much thrill..."

Qiu smirked patting the top of her head. "not so brave now are we...."

"shut up man... I am a brave young girl." She mumbled letting go of his coat. "weird... Shao and Muchen have such strong scent while you have none. Like none at all..." she said sniffing his coat.

He pushed her little head away. "don’t make it weird."

"ew you are totally not my time."

the group steadied themselves on the new shelf.
