Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]-Chapter 147 - Strange giant
Chapter 147: Chapter 147 - Strange giant
Yunfeng sprinted through the empty streets, Jai right behind him. Their footsteps were light, careful, but the growls in the distance reminded them that they weren’t alone. The city outskirts weren’t safe.
As they rounded a corner, Yunfeng’s eyes caught something—a motorcycle leaning against a broken-down storefront. The front wheel was bent slightly, but the body looked intact.
"Jai, stop," he hissed, pulling him back.
Jai stumbled but caught himself. "What? We gotta keep moving!"
Yunfeng pointed. "That bike. It’s faster, quieter than a car, and easier to weave through obstacles."
Jai’s face lit up. "Oh, hell yeah! That’s a fucking dukati."
Yunfeng shot him a look. "Not the time."
They ran up to the bike. Yunfeng checked the ignition—keys were still in. "Someone left in a hurry," he muttered.
Jai swung a leg over the back seat. "You know how to drive this thing?"
Yunfeng twisted the throttle, the engine roaring to life. "Better than you."
Jai clutched his shoulders. "That’s not saying much."
Before Yunfeng could respond, a guttural snarl echoed behind them. The zombies had caught up.
"Time to go!" Jai yelped.
Yunfeng revved the engine, the bike jerking forward. The road ahead was uneven, littered with debris, but he maneuvered around it effortlessly. Jai clung to him for dear life.
"This is not fun! I take back everything I said about zombie games!" Jai yelled.
The bike jolted violently as Yunfeng ran over something soft and unsteady. The sickening crunch under the tires made his stomach turn.
"Ewww!" Jai gagged, shaking his foot like a wet dog. "That was a whole-ass person! Oh my god—there’s... stuff on my shoe!"
"Shut up and hold on," Yunfeng gritted out, keeping his hands firm on the handlebars. The last thing they needed was Jai flailing and throwing them both off the bike.
"Hold on? To what? My last meal?" Jai groaned. "Because I feel like it’s about to come up."
Yunfeng slowed slightly. "Check the map. We need to make sure we’re going the right way."
Jai grumbled under his breath but pulled out his phone, wiping his contaminated shoe on the edge of the bike. The blue dot moved steadily on the screen, the route still stretching ahead.
"Okay, so... good news and bad news," Jai announced.
Yunfeng rolled his eyes. "Just tell me."
"Good news—we’re 28 minutes away. Bad news—we’re still 28 minutes away, and I’d really rather not be zombie food before then."
"Take the smaller routes," Jai added. "We don’t want a whole parade of the undead blocking our way."
Yunfeng nodded, turning the bike sharply into a narrow street.
The narrow street stretched ahead, eerily silent.
Yunfeng’s grip on the handlebars tightened. The further they rode, the more unnatural the silence became.
Jai, still sulking over his defiled shoe, shifted uneasily behind him. "Uh... why does this feel like the part in a horror movie where we get jumped?"
Yunfeng didn’t answer. His eyes flicked from shadow to shadow, searching for movement. The bike’s headlights illuminated abandoned cars, scattered debris, and—
A hand twitched.
Yunfeng’s stomach lurched. He barely had time to register the corpse lying in the middle of the road before its head snapped up, glowing, milky-white eyes locking onto them.
"Shit—hold on!" He jerked the bike sideways.
The zombie lunged just as they sped past, its fingers grazing Jai’s sleeve.
"AHHH! It touched me! It fucking touched me!!" Jai screamed, flailing so wildly that Yunfeng had to swerve again to keep them from crashing.
"Sit still, dumbass!" Yunfeng hissed, heart pounding. "You want us to wipe out?"
Jai clutched his chest, gasping. "I saw my life flash before my eyes! I wasn’t even rich in it, Yunfeng! Not even a little bit rich!"
Yunfeng gritted his teeth and sped up. More shapes were stirring in the darkness now, drawn by the noise. Figures shuffled from between buildings, dragging torn limbs and snapping jaws.
Jai checked the map again with shaking hands. "We’re close, dude—just a few more turns."
Yunfeng didn’t reply, focused entirely on weaving through the scattered obstacles ahead.
Then, a deafening roar tore through the night.
It wasn’t human. It wasn’t a zombie.
It was something much, much worse.
Jai went rigid. "...That wasn’t a normal zombie, was it?"
Yunfeng’s throat was dry. "No. No, it wasn’t."
Behind them, deep in the shadows of the ruined city, something was moving. Something big. And it was coming their way.
Yunfeng floored the gas. The bike’s engine roared, tires screeching against the asphalt as they shot forward.
Jai twisted around, eyes wide. "Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck. Oh, fuck—it’s moving!"
Yunfeng didn’t dare look back. He could hear it. Heavy, thudding footsteps, the sickening crunch of bones beneath its weight, the low, guttural breathing of something unnatural.
A massive shadow flickered against the dim city lights.
Then—a crash.
Behind them, a car flipped into the air as if it weighed nothing, smashing into a nearby storefront. Glass exploded outward, raining down like deadly confetti.
Jai nearly fell off the bike. "FUCK! It just threw a whole-ass car—ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"
Yunfeng gritted his teeth. "Jai, shut up and tell me where to turn!"
Jai fumbled with the phone, swearing under his breath. "Left! Go left—NOW!"
Yunfeng jerked the handlebars, barely missing a collapsed streetlight as they veered into an alleyway. The walls were close, the path uneven, but they had no choice.
Something slammed into the ground behind them. The impact sent a wave of dust and debris blasting through the alley, nearly knocking them over.
Jai coughed. "WHAT THE HELL IS CHASING US?"
Yunfeng had a horrible feeling he already knew.
The mutation wasn’t just affecting humans anymore.
The roar behind them deepened—hungry, angry, hunting.
Whatever it was, it wasn’t stopping.
Jai checked the map again. "We’re five minutes away! Just keep going—DON’T DIE, YUNFENG!"
Yunfeng’s hands were slick with sweat. "Not in my damn plans, Jai."
They shot out of the alley, hitting open road. In the distance, past broken traffic lights and overturned trucks, the warehouse loomed.
They were almost there.
But so was whatever was chasing them.
And it was gaining.
A deep, guttural growl rolled through the streets.
Yunfeng didn’t dare look back.
Jai, on the other hand, made the mistake of looking. His breath hitched. "Oh... oh, fuck."
Against the dim glow of flickering streetlights, the beast emerged.
It was at least three times the size of a normal human, its skin stretched and torn over grotesquely swollen muscles. Thick veins pulsed with something black and unnatural. Its face was a nightmare—a gaping maw filled with jagged, uneven teeth, and sunken, empty eyes that locked onto them with terrifying intelligence.
One of its arms was grossly elongated, dragging against the pavement, fingers thick as steel pipes. The other arm, shorter but just as deadly, gripped a crumpled car door like a weapon. It moved with a horrific, unsteady gait, but each step sent a tremor through the ground.
And it was fast.
Faster than something that size had any right to be.
Jai gripped Yunfeng’s shoulder, voice an octave too high. "FASTER, YUNFENG! DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!"
Yunfeng twisted the throttle. The bike roared, speeding down the cracked road, dodging debris and overturned cars.
The mutated zombie let out a bone-rattling howl.
Then, with terrifying strength, it hurled the car door straight at them.
"SHIT—!" Yunfeng swerved at the last second. The door slammed into the ground where they had been a moment ago, the impact sending shockwaves through the street.
Jai clutched his chest. "I think I just had a heart attack."
"Save it for later!" Yunfeng hissed. "Warehouse—how far?!"
Jai checked the map, hands shaking. "Two minutes! Just—DON’T CRASH!"
Yunfeng gritted his teeth and pushed the bike even harder.
Jai clung to him like a lifeline. "Warehouse! It’s right there!"
The large doors were shut, but there was a side entrance—slightly ajar with zombies crawling in. He made a split-second decision.
"Hold on!"
Jai barely had time to scream before Yunfeng yanked the bike to the side and aimed straight for the gap. The bike skidded, tires screeching against the pavement, sparks flying. Yunfeng kicked off the seat at the last second, dragging Jai with him as they tumbled through the narrow opening.
The bike crashed Into a pile of crates, sending dust flying.
Yunfeng hit the ground hard, rolling to his feet. Jai groaned beside him. "Oh my god—remind me never to ride with you again!"
No time for jokes.
A deafening BOOM shook the walls.
The massive zombie had reached the warehouse. Its hulking frame slammed into the metal doors, denting them inward.
Jai paled. "That thing is gonna get in!"
Yunfeng scanned the darkened warehouse, heart pounding.
Another BOOM. The doors buckled. A twisted claw forced its way through the metal, peeling it back like foil.
Yunfeng grabbed Jai’s wrist. "run!!!!!" he pulled him deeper in. Strangely a few zombies were piled up in a distant shelf pounding on it.
The shelf collapsed in the distance and a few shadows were seen jumping off it. "Hana!!"
