Chapter 109: Chapter 109

~Woo min~

The apartment reeked of heat, thick, sweet, and desperate. Junho’s scent was everywhere, mixed with Jae’s softer mated one. My rut snarled in my chest the second I stepped in.

I asked Jae to take him to my new home. I wasn’t living in Park Min’s penthouse anymore, I wasn’t some sort of stray.

Jae was on the couch, elbows on knees, looking wrecked. He stood up fast when he saw us.

"He’s sleeping," he said quickly, eyes on me. "Finally. Suppressants kicked in hard about twenty minutes ago. He fought them like hell, kept calling for you."

My throat closed up.

Yu Jin made a soft noise and headed straight for the bedroom, Rin still in his arms.

I started after him, but Park Min caught my arm. Not hard, just enough.

"Let them," he said. "Yu Jin needs this."

I yanked free but didn’t argue. Because yeah, he did.

From the bedroom I heard Yu Jin’s voice crack again, then Rin’s higher one saying "Father I want to skeep sleeping, shh," like he was the parent.

Then silence.

Jae rubbed the back of his neck. "I should go."

"Yeah," I muttered. "Thanks for... staying."

He nodded, grabbed his bag, and slipped out without another word.

Park Min leaned against the wall, arms folded, watching the bedroom door.

I couldn’t stand still. I started pacing. "So talk. Who wants your kid?"

"Not my kid," he said quietly. "Our kind. There’s only a handful left. Early presenters are... valuable."

"Valuable how?"

He didn’t answer right away. Then: "Breeding. Control. Weapons. Depends who’s asking."

I stopped pacing. "You’re shitting me."

"I wish I was."

"So what, some old creep wants to, what steal him? Raise him? Use him?"

"All three, probably."

I dragged both hands through my hair. "And you didn’t think to mention this when he was born?"

"I thought we were safe, I didn’t even know he was going to inherit this oft from me." His voice stayed even, but I heard the edge. "It’s actually been a lot. ."

"So tell me, what’s been going on with your life?"

He met my eyes. "They’re not coming anymore, my dad was somehow able to stabilize me for now but we’re working on finding the enigma from 1999."

I exhaled hard. "Great. So now there’s more reasons to come cuz of your kid."

"One, at least. The one tonight."

Yu Jin came out then, alone, eyes red. He shut the bedroom door soft behind him.

"He won’t let go of Junho," he whispered. "Curled up right against his neck like it’s the safest place in the world. His pheromones calmed the second he touched him."

I swallowed thick. "Yeah. He loves his big omega right now."

Yu Jin looked at Park Min, then me. "We can’t take him tonight. He’ll scream. He’ll spike again."

Park Min nodded slowly. "Then let’s stay."

I barked a laugh. "Here? In my apartment? With my mate in heat and your kid glued to him?"

Yu Jin flinched.

Park Min didn’t. "We’ll sleep somewhere else . I’ll keep Rin’s scent locked down. You keep your rut locked down. We won’t touch your omega."

I stared at him. "You think I’m gonna leave you alone with Junho?"

"I think," he said, "you don’t have much choice. Unless you want Rin broadcasting to every alpha in a ten-mile radius again."

I wanted to hit him. I wanted to scream. Wanted to go into that bedroom and crawl in bed with both of them and pretend the world wasn’t fucked.

Instead I just stood there breathing hard.

Yu Jin touched my arm softly. "Woo Min. Please. Just one night. I can’t lose him again."

His voice broke on the last word, and it hit me like a punch. Because I knew that sound. I’d heard it in Junho’s voice earlier when I walked out.

I rubbed my face again. "Fine. One night. Couch. No wandering. No touching Junho. I wake up and you’re anywhere near that bed, I swear to God... "

"I won’t," Park Min cut in. "You have my word."

I laughed again, no humor in it. "Your word. Cute."

He didn’t answer.

We stood there in the quiet for a minute, all three of us, listening to nothing from the bedroom.

Then Yu Jin said, voice small, "Can I... can I see Junho? Just for a second? Make sure he’s okay?"

I wanted to say no. Wanted to snarl mine and slam the door.

But I thought about Junho waking up alone again, thinking I’d ditched him for good this time.

I nodded once. "Quiet. Don’t wake him."

Yu Jin slipped past me, opened the door carefully.

I followed, couldn’t help it.

The room was dark except for the streetlight leaking through the blinds. Junho was on his side, sheet tangled low on his hips, face flushed and damp, breathing deep and even from the drugs finally winning.

Rin was smashed against him, one tiny arm thrown over Junho’s waist, face buried in his neck, thumb in mouth like he was two again instead of five.

Junho’s arm was curled around him protective, fingers tangled in Rin’s hair even in sleep.

They looked... peaceful. Like they belonged.

My chest hurt so bad I couldn’t breathe right. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Yu Jin made this soft hiccup sound, covered his mouth quick.

I reached past him and pulled the door almost shut, leaving it open a crack.

Then I turned to Park Min in the hallway.

"Tomorrow," I said low, "you tell me everything. Who’s coming, how we stop them, all of it."

He nodded.

"And if you ever," I stepped closer, voice dropping, "ever let anything happen to that kid again because you’re keeping secrets, I will end you myself. Enigma or not."

He didn’t blink. "Understood."

I walked past him to the kitchen, grabbed a beer I didn’t even want, and chugged half of it standing at the sink.

Behind me I heard Yu Jin whispering to Park Min, heard the couch creak as they settled in.

I stared out the window at nothing.

One night.

One fucking night with the people who broke my family once already, sleeping ten feet from my mate and the kid who was starting to feel way too much like mine.

I finished the beer, crushed the can in my fist, and didn’t sleep at all.
