Primordial God Of Time-Chapter 46: Killing The Mastermind... Truly Immortal...
Chapter 46: Killing The Mastermind... Truly Immortal...
Upon witnessing the devastating attack, Ming felt a surge of pride. She had accomplished what no one in her generation could—unleashing a monarch-level strike without actually being a monarch. Even though she could only do so while borrowing the lifespan of others, she felt immense satisfaction. If death were to come now, she could accept it with a smile.
Meanwhile, around the battlefield, everywhere was chaotic. Kranos could already predict the outcome of the battle, which was a disastrous defeat.
The enemies the ordinary cultivators faced were nearly immortal, and he hadn’t shared with them the method he used to kill the corrupted man earlier.
He was cautious of the fact that they might probably have a way to change the locations of the Gu worms in their bodies, but seeing the situation on the battlefield he realized that if he didn’t intervene, everyone would likely perish which would be very disadvantageous for him, by then it will be very difficult to escape while preserving my life.
With this in mind, Kranos activated Space Flash, rapidly teleporting across the battlefield, and informing the others of the corrupted creatures’ weaknesses. Since he had slain a couple more including tree demons and corrupted animals, he practically knew all their weakness and could make a rough estimate.
Once he finished relaying the information, Kranos attempted to quietly slip away from the battlefield. His mana reserves were depleting, and if the cultivators couldn’t handle the situation now, there was little more he could do. After all, he hadn’t even reached the Golden Core Realm—this battle was far beyond his current level.
However, just as he made that decision, the laws of heaven and earth twisted unnaturally. His thoughts slowed drastically, and even taking a single step felt as arduous as climbing to the heavens. Kranos froze in his steps, both stunned and... horrified?
What’s happening? This was the first thing that came to Kranos’ mind.
Suddenly, a terrifying pressure surged from a distant section of the battlefield—the area where Ming and the others were engaged with the corrupted creature. Kranos struggled for a bit before slowly raising his head to look in their direction, the next moment he was terrified.
That attack... That attack! He mumbled internally as he was in a panic, he knew there was no way he could defend against that attack, it was so terrifying that the sheer power emanating from it was overwhelming him
A thick bolt of lightning tore through the sky, aimed straight at the demon worm. The worm demon struggled fiercely but to no avail, the attack was more than it could handle, It knew—there was no bridging the gap between a monarch and a Dao Palace Realm expert.
In desperation, it poured all its power into the Gu worm embedded within its heart, roaring internally for the Gu worm to survive the destruction.
Its true body was not the massive worm visible on the battlefield, but the Gu worm hidden inside the huge worm it appeared as was merely a fake body used to deceive others, it was once a weak gu worm until it awakened its demonic ability to split, it could also control those split with it’s will, obtaining all sorts of information.
It continued living like that until a refined middle-aged man who was faceless appeared to it and became its master. The faceless man taught it a demonic art it never knew existed—with this demonic art, it could unlock a new ability every time it transcended a new realm. With that, its abilities were constantly evolving and it could feel itself becoming stronger.
No, I can’t die like this! Fortunately, I broke through to the nascent soul realm and awakened a new gu ability, since all hope is lost I will have to use that ability, I can also use that move to call one of my seniors but it should take a little time before my seniors would respond, by then I will probably be dead. All these thoughts flashed through the demon worm’s mind in an instant.
After channelling all its demonic energy into the Gu worm, it thrashed violently in an attempt to escape the attack. But it had underestimated the might of a monarch-level strike.
Although the attack appeared to move slowly, that illusion came from the overwhelming force of the attack distorting everyone’s perception of space.
In reality, the lightning attack arrived in the blink of an eye and before the creature could react, immediately a piercing shriek resounded in the surroundings causing lower cultivators to bleed from all seven orifices including Kranos, after he wasn’t even close to their level yet.
Similarly, a resounding explosion occurred, and the ground caved in for several meters, spiderweb cracks spreading in all directions.
The cultivators in the surroundings of the attack had already been destroyed by the blast. There was silence on the battlefield, Kranos abandoned the idea of fleeing since he guessed the battle had most likely ended.
He stared at the spot where the colossal lightning bolt had struck. Dust still hung in the air, obscuring the view. As it slowly settled, the shattered remnants of the demon creature came into sight. Its body had been blown into countless pieces which looked utterly unrecognisable.
Then, Kranos noticed something important.
The worm wasn’t regenerating.
Could it be...?
Kranos guessed faintly in his heart but he didn’t dare get too close after all he could recall that this worm demon seemed to be extremely smart and had a lot of tricks up its sleeve.
He also saw Ming standing not too far away, she seemed extremely frail as as though a light breeze could carry her away, Her complexion was ghostly pale, and Kranos quickly realized that she had drastically overdrawn her lifespan and would probably die in a couple of hours.
Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by a whooshing sound.
"Human!!!" a furious voice roared. "You destroyed the body I spent decades cultivating!"
Kranos turned toward the source of the voice and saw the demon worm’s broken corpse. But it wasn’t regenerating—so where was the voice coming from?
Amid the lingering dust, he could barely make out a shadowy figure speaking.
Then, a gust of wind swept through, revealing the figure clearly.
