Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 60 Glades Horne Gets Jealous_1
Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Glades Horne Gets Jealous_1
Edo Hanley was stunned, while Glades Horne was triumphant.
The others burst into hearty laughter.
"No wonder they can be a couple; birds of a feather flock together. Both are masters of pranking," Helen Griffin giggled merrily.
"Let’s take a break; I’ll treat you to afternoon tea," Edo Hanley said with a smile, having regained his composure.
Everyone agreed to his proposal, wrapped up their game, and left the court.
It was already afternoon, and the sun wasn’t as intense as it had been at noon.
Glades Horne held Julia Bluen’s hand tightly, as if he feared someone would steal her away.
His buddies couldn’t help but chuckle at his domineering behavior. The look on his face suggested they might snatch Julia from him. He had never shown such assertiveness when he had been with Ruby Bluen.
These people were not fools. Even if they didn’t ask and Glades offered no explanation, they could guess the real reason behind his possessiveness and the barely concealed affection he displayed for Julia.
They also began to understand why the Horne and Bluen families had revoked so many guests’ invitations. It must have been Glades Horne protecting Julia Bluen, not wanting her to be the subject of whispers during the wedding.
Glades Horne didn’t care what his friends thought or guessed. Turning his head to gaze lovingly at Julia Bluen, he asked, "Tired?"
Julia Bluen slightly freed her hand from his firm grasp, stretched her arms, and shook her head with a smile, saying, "I’m not tired at all." She wasn’t new to exercise; her height of 170 centimeters was not just natural but also the result of her athletic endeavors.
"Glades, I’m tired," Helen Griffin said, moving up to Glades Horne and wrapping her arm around his shoulder with a playful giggle, upon hearing his affectionate inquiry.
"Hanley, your partner is tired. Pick her up and carry her to the car," Glades said with a light chuckle, pulling Helen’s hand away and addressing Edo Hanley.
Edo Hanley’s handsome face instantly fell. He made a face at Julia Bluen, saying, "Julia, your man loves to bully me. When you get home, help me get back at him, will you?"
Julia Bluen chuckled.
The group of eight, chatting and laughing, piled into their respective cars and left the stadium.
Along the way, Julia Bluen occasionally burst into giggles.
Glades Horne would throw her a sidelong glance now and then, his tone tinged with sourness as he asked, "So, this is our dynamic? Hanley always deserves a beating, and he’s the one who makes you laugh so much?"
Julia Bluen nodded honestly.
Glades Horne fell silent.
And pursed his lips.
Julia Bluen initially paid no attention to his pursed lips and kept talking about how interesting their group dynamics were. It wasn’t until he gave no response, and she noticed his tight face and pursed lips, radiating sullenness from head to toe, that she realized something.
He was jealous!
"Glades?" Julia Bluen called out, her beautiful eyes blinking.
"Hm?"
"Are you upset?" freēwēbnovel.com
"Not at all," Glades Horne replied deeply, his voice muffled by a touch of irritation.
Julia Bluen watched him for a minute. He was clearly upset but denied it; every fiber of his being exuded jealousy. Why on earth would he be jealous?
"It’s a bit sour."
"What did you eat?" Glades Horne turned to look at her, noticing she wasn’t eating anything.
"You smell sour; why is that?" Julia Bluen asked, her bright eyes fixed intently on Glades Horne.
"’Do I? You must have a problem with your sense of smell. HAHA!" Glades Horne chuckled lowly, swiftly changing the subject to divert from Julia’s question.
He didn’t want to talk about it, which was fine. Sooner or later, she would clear up whatever she felt was off about him.
Without further inquiry, Julia Bluen leaned back in her seat, beginning to enjoy the street view outside the car.
The car fell into silence.
Meanwhile, in the CEO’s Office at Cosmos Group, Dio Powell sat on the sofa, his face wreathed in smiles as he watched Rachel Bailey. A woman sat intimately across from him, her arm around Rachel’s shoulders.
"Rachel, you’ve been with our company for over three years now, right? You’re used to it, aren’t you? Starting in a new place would mean starting from scratch—adapting to new colleagues, making your abilities known to a new boss, everything beginning anew. You’ve worked at Cosmos for so long, always giving it your all, and I think you would be better off remaining with us. Regarding your salary, I’ll double it as an apology for the other day. That day I... ah, it was the alcohol’s fault. I had just a bit to drink and got a bit too aggressive; that’s why I treated you that way. Let bygones be bygones, right? Don’t be mad at me."
Dio Powell spoke to Rachel Bailey with a gentle smile, setting aside his CEO’s pride and speaking softly in an attempt to persuade her to return to work at Cosmos Group.
After learning that Valence Group had ceased all business dealings with Cosmos, he had become anxious.
If this is Glades Horne’s way of avenging his little sister-in-law, it’s only the beginning.
And just the beginning was enough to cause him deep distress—all that money was no longer flowing into his wallet.
A short while ago, he had called Julia Bluen to ask her to intercede with Glades Horne on his behalf, but Julia refused him. With no alternative, he swallowed his pride and approached Rachel Bailey. After all, Glades had announced that Valence Group would negotiate business with anyone who could offer Rachel Bailey a job as an accountant.
Rachel Bailey didn’t even want to deal with him. He had forcibly taken her from her rented apartment, bringing her back to the company along with his mistress, who was also his secretary.
"Mr. Powell, isn’t this like slapping me and then offering me candy?" Rachel Bailey forcefully shrugged off the hand of the woman who was feigning closeness and sneered, "I’m not a three-year-old child anymore."
A flicker of anger crossed Dio Powell’s eyes, but he maintained his smiling facade and said, "Rachel, that day I really didn’t mean to... Come back to work, okay? I will double your salary, you’ll have eight days off each month, and no more overtime in the evenings. How about that? If you’re still not satisfied, you can state your conditions. As long as you’re willing to come back, I’ll do my best to meet them."
"So if I come back, you’re willing to agree to whatever conditions I propose?" Rachel Bailey huffed coldly, flicking away the secretary’s hand as the woman again tried to feign familiarity and reach for her shoulder.
